  1. oh boi, it can get pretty spendy.

I stick with PB Swiss, but you get limited sizes. Brownells has a huge selection of sizes, but they aren't as nicely finished. Wera is also pretty good, they make hi-torque bits perfect for optics.

I recommend PB Swiss punches as well, especially since they have a extra long 2.5mm punch that nobody else makes (useful for the shell stop lever).

  2. So you are telling me all these new in the box M4s aren't made recently and just happen to be flooding the market at all these FFLs have been sitting around for a long time?

And I have a theory that the last two digits of the serial number might also indicate the year of the production. Because all these new guns just so happen to have the last two digits as 20.

  3. If you take a new barrel and cut it for chokes, the cut area loses the chrome lining. And you can't re line the barrel to the same factory standards, especially with the gas block...

I honestly think you are over thinking this. The M4 ships with one threaded choke, the M1014 nothing at all; one barrel length*. You are better off buying better ammo. Feed it shit-tier ammo; you will get shit patterns. Federal flightcontrol wad is pretty much the best for buckshot. Having owned both guns, I prefer the barrel without chokes.

  4. Yes. All M4s and M1014 that arrive into our glorious country are identical in capacity and length. Anything that is so-called "Law Enforcement" is modified in the USA. You can see they just slap a sticker with the new SKU and description that is different than the original sticker.

The only exception is the first run of M4 H2Os, that was sold to consumers with both the full capacity and collapsing stock. The second run of M4 H2Os are just coated but no different.

  5. Looky what I found.1348086174_benellipuma.jpg.a937a1c87ecb0d0a4f034ebdb4dbdd12.jpgpuma.jpg.d9846b11387c01127fa41e0d0bec9ef4.jpg

Not exactly for your M4, but now I fathom what you wanted. It would fit on a Supernova or M2. What we are looking at is an adjustable stock without a pistol grip for a modernized MR1, the Benelli Puma.

You can see the distinct design element of the recoil tube rotated 180° and the ability to take all 3 types of Comfortech pads. Sadly records show this was not manufactured. I do have a heavy interest in this because this would be California compliant...?
