  1. Briley’s gunsmith fit their hammer, trigger and disconnector to your trigger housing. All the others are just parts you stick in your gun.
  2. The thought of drilling and tapping a hole in such a small component and then hanging a lever off it never appealed to me. Not that I couldn’t do it, it just seems a recipe for disaster. Catch that lever on something and tear it off and what do you have? I went with Dave’s Speedbar. Offers the same ease of operation but is supported by the receiver and handguard, not the release button. If I catch it on something and dick it up, I just loosen the barrel nut, remove the lever and stay in the game. Your milage may vary. http://www.davesmetalworks.com/m4.html
  3. No, you did not. You are still entitled to the due process of law.
  4. Yes. Although not necessary, if you’re selling it to another, it may not be a bad idea. ATF would only need notice if that buyer planned to SBS that serial number. The serial number is never removed from the registry, it’s just noted as no longer a title 2.
  5. This would only prove the ignorance of the gun shop that may be interested in buying that receiver. It would not prove that any laws were broken. Read the link I provided above and learn. That thread relates to the situation you are arguing. Many who responded are current class 3 licenses. None has put forward the argument you are making.
  6. Your statement “You cannot put the 18 back on and sell the weapon” is incorrect. “Once a machine gun always a machine gun” is correct. That is not true with short barreled rifles or shotguns. How can it be a short barreled shotgun if it doesn’t have a short barrel? It is what it is as it is configured at that moment. A form 1 is the form used to make and register a title 2 firearm. A form 4 is the form to transfer a title 2 from one individual or organization to another. I make this statement not to be a dick, but to correct an inaccurate statement for those who may be interested in title 2 firearms. https://www.ar15.com/forums/Armory/Deregistering-a-SBR-lower/17-522768/
  7. ATF has the right to audit any dealer’s records to confirm they are correctly processing the paperwork and keeping the records required. I had a class 3 FFL some 20 years ago. While they can show up at your place of business unannounced for that audit, they always made an appointment. They are not free to wander the premises, they’d need probable cause and a warrant to root through your property. Bad record keeping could be a cause for that warrant. They will see a gun in the bound book and will ask you to provide it to them, confirm it matches the description on the form 4, and then ask for the next. They had a policy of auditing class 3 dealers on an annual basis. But this process, although more often then “regular” dealers, is the same for both. When I sold my last title 2 and noted its disposal in my bound book I did not renew my Special Occupational Tax. Then ATF came for their annual audit they stated I had not renewed my SOT. I indicated I no longer had title 2s on the books and that was the end of that. I kept my “standard” FFL for a few more years and then closed that as well and shipped the bound book off to the FFL out of business address. As an individual or non-licensee who happens to own a title 2 firearm, your rights are the same as any other gun owning individual. Probable cause is required to search your home.
  8. Switch back and forth as you wish. If an SBS is illegal in a state where you wish to take the shotgun, then put an 18 on it. I’ve never thought to go back to an 18 on mine, but if I did, I figured I’d just put a +2 extension on.
  9. The misinformation with title 2 firearms never ceases to amaze me. It is only a short barreled shotgun when it has a short barrel. Put an 18 on it and it is not a short barreled shotgun. Take it anywhere a shotgun is legal, even sell it with the 18 if you like. NFA would like to know it’s been “converted” back to a title 1, but that isn’t even necessary. Unlike machine guns and NFA’s “once a machine gun always a machine gun” position, an SBS or SBR is only a title 2 when configured as a title 2. You do not give up any rights. .gov can’t come into your home anytime they wish. Still America folks, probable cause and a warrant is necessary to enter your home.
  10. I thought I was quite fair with this offer. arfcom add All the desirable aftermarket/922r compliant parts assembled by Briley’s professional gunsmiths, ready to drop into your gun. Sell your original trigger pack for $125 and you just broke even without the wait. But no one bit. It’s back on my shelf, I have pleanty of room.
  11. Have you ever been named the defendant in a lawsuit? Even when you win, you loose. The plaintiff's lawyer will name every person and organization even remotely connected. They do this to maximize the available purse. I was told "They will let the court determine who is responsible." No judge will make a summary judgement. The judge will let the suit wander through the court system to it's final conclusion. This modus operandi maximizes the fees for lawyers on both sides. My firm was named defendant in a $25,000.00 lawsuit. My Errors and Omissions insurance paid for my defense team. I never saw their bill. I am sure it was substantial. After arbitration my defense team settled at $617.00. This to make it go away and close it out. I was angry the plaintiff received any money from me or my insurance company. But I also understand this was a monetary decision to stop my insurance company from paying any more in my defense. My lawyer told me the arbitrator was a professor at UC'S College of Law. He presented the case to his students. They had a hard time accepting the plaintiff's claim. A case that should never been made ran up lawyer fees on both side to a substantial amount. Would you like to buy into all this for a mere $240.00? Knock yourself out. There are some gun parts I do not mind selling. These parts will sit on the shelf and in a year likely land in the trash. A damn shame. I know there are folks who would like the parts. Blame the lawyers. Matt
  12. I just got mine back today. While I have not installed it yet, I squeezed the trigger and trigger guard loop has hard as I could with two fingers and it did not release. I also tried multiple times, still no release. Do you have a plastic trigger housing? Flex in the housing? Matt
  13. With the lost trigger group, I had to buy another to replace it. The replacement from Numrich Arms was an early alloy housing trigger assembly. I had already purchased a second A&S trigger housing, so I am going to build a spare on the Benelli alloy housing using these fire control parts. Matt
  14. Actually it has, but at my end not the other. Someone pointed out to me that being in the distribution of firearm parts, particularly triggers and hammers, incurs liability. At the $240 sale price, it wasn’t worth the risk. The items are no longer for sale, but I am unable to edit the original post and thread title. my apologies to the gentlemen who contacted me, I really did not wish to back out from the deal, but this was too serious a matter to go forward with the transaction. Matt
  15. Funny, I have the Midwest Industries QD mount on the tailstock as well. Also placing it on the side opposite my body so the sling will cause the gun to roll into rather than away from your body. Opposite side also keeps the sling from getting trapped between your body and the gun when shouldered. The only thing that makes it problematic is the rubber buttpad grabs the sling and it doesn’t naturally rotate out of the way when you shoulder the firearm. The same mount on an AR doesn’t have that problem. For the front mount I used the Mesa Tactical magazine tube extension ring. With a QD sling swivel on one end and an HK hook on the other end of the sling I can readily switch from single to two point sling attachment. https://freedomfightertactical.com/collections/benelli-m4-tactical-shotgun-parts-and-accessories/products/mesa-tactical-hook-loop-for-magazine-extension-for-the-benelli-m4-and-m2-shotgun-90750 https://www.midwestindustriesinc.com/QD-Rear-Sling-Adapter-for-6-position-CAR-M4-Stock-p/mctar-10.htm Matt
