In this first photo, what is the light mounted to? Also holds a shell? Thanks.

Light is mounted on the IWC front QD and light mount. I don’t understand: “ Also holds a shell?”. You need to ask the second question in a complete sentence.

My M4 has the lightest recoil of any 12 ga. that I have ever tried.  How much lighter can it get?

If one of you gets one, please let us know how it goes.  I might look into getting the one for the Hellcat, that little gun has some recoil.

I run one on my Steyr pistol and it does make a difference on handguns.

Have you tried shooting it left handed? I’m wondering if the bigger side saddle causes issues at all.

I have not but could easily try it next time I take it to the range.

I am trying to get a hold of the Breacher/brake. I am not having much luck as it is "Sold Out" on Benelli's site and I'm having no luck on the Web. Any help would be much appreciated. Benelli M4 Muzzle Brake W/ non Choke Adapter

I got mine on eBay. Otherwise you’re just going to have to be patient. It’s the name of the game with rare quality foreign guns.

How do you like the sight picture with that Hensoldt? Doesn't appear to co-witness with your irons, but assuming that's a non-issue for you?

I like it because it’s simple, light, rugged, runs on both battery and solar, plus it has a quick release if all that fails and need to go to irons. I raised my cheek riser to match it. I prefer the more relaxed head up position. That’s why I didn’t try to get anything that actually cowitnessed.

I have always wondered what the philosophy was behind running the rear on the opposite side. I have tried both and just found that way more comfy when shouldering but could have easily gone the other way with more slack or a softer strap.

No clue what the philosophy behind it. Just know it works great. :D

    Sigma!

Awesome field report!!  Glad to hear your Briley worked to perfection.  300 rounds and only dropped 2 shells on reloads.  Awesome dude.  But anyone can tell that by your excitement and pics!  Do you load 2 or 4?  Happy for you!

I only load two. I have very small hands and haven’t done any work to the port. I can do four but generally with a much lower success rate. I’ll get there eventually. :D

  9. Took the M4 out to run the Briley handguard through its paces. Burned through 300 shells nonstop. The handguard didn’t even budge. I must have gotten one of the updated ones. No wiggle or looseness whatsoever. Another great thing is that it doesn’t transfer the heat to the handguard like most aluminum handguards do, and the barrel was scorching hot! Got a bunch of reload drills in and only dropped two shells. All in all in was a great range session.

  10. I have been contemplating designing my own adapter in my 3D printer, similar to what they did with the Beretta. The first step is to find out if there is the space inside the Magpul stock that allows for the M4 extension, and then see if the angle matches that of the available space. Unfortunately I’m too busy with many other things to even start going down that route.

Now much recoil reduction do you feel with the comp? Any chance in how loud the shotgun is perceived to the shooter?

If I had an entry length barrel, I’d be tempted to get the muzzle threaded and add one along with the +1 cap.

There is some perceived reduction. If that was the only reason for getting it, I wouldn’t have bothered, but since it included the choke and the possibility of increased capacity, then to me, that made it worth it.

I pay no attention to the loudness so I couldn’t tell you if there’s any difference. I normally shoot an 8” G36C as well as a 300 win mag, so I don’t notice any noise  difference from an 18” shotgun with or without the brake.

How do you like that muzzle brake/compensator? Worth the investment?

It has more than one advantage. It not just a brake. It’s also a choke. Plus it allows you to run the +1 extension. Not that you can’t run the extension without it, but this way you get more than one benefit out of the whole setup.

I checked out their website, looks like a great place to train.  My Best Man and his family are all moving from DPRC to N.C.  Two of his adult kids and their families are already settled in Burnsville and Asheville areas and they love it.  They just can't take Cali anymore.., it's bad and getting worse.  Don't worry, they won't bring any of that liberal mindset with them!

I moved from Cali too. I hated it. Was there for work and stayed way too long. Once my son was born that’s when I definitively made my mind up to get out. Didn’t want to raise my child around those clueless people. Every day I’m here in NC, the happier and grateful I am. Best move ever. Unfortunately way too many New Yorkers and Californians are moving here too and messing everything up. Why the hell do they move somewhere just to try to make it the same as where you just moved away from? :(

Interesting.  Where do you train?  I'm in the Democratic People's Republic of California (DPRC).

North Carolina. I have access to the shoothouse at Range 37, The Range Complex and a few others.

Yup, we just keep tinkering until we die.  It's all very good!!

Good to hear you have no problems reaching the tape switch.  So, if you had to shoot lefty, you'd just wrap your right hand over the top and engage with your thumb?  An over-the-top grip like many use with an AR in CQB.  I like your thinking.  You never know when your clearing the house and slicing the pie around a corner when it might be better to do it left handed.  Depends on your house layout.  Come to think of it...that's how I would need to come down the hallway and into the living room.  Thanks for making me think....again!

Exactly. I do a lot of shoothouse training and shoot ambidextrous, except under night vision. That’s why I also don’t run the stock fully extended.

    Sigma -

Saw this posted under your "My Final Build" thread and had to chuckle.  What's the definition of "final"?  I'd say, It Depends!  Kind'a like, "never say never!"

The set-up looks sweet.  Am curious to hear what you think about the location of your remote tape switch once you get a chance to run it through its paces.  It looks pretty high to me (above the barrel) but without getting a chance to "fondle" it, I merit no opinion!

How much does that rig weigh fully loaded?  Around 10lbs.?

That’s why I started my last post with it’s never done. :D

The tape switch is there intentionally because I can also reach it if I have to shoot it lefty. I have no problems engaging it there.

Fully loaded (10 round ghost load) plus the 8 side saddle, it’s at 12 pounds.

  17. Like the saying says: you’re never really done. Swapped the Hayl handguard for the Briley 13” Mlok one. Love this thing! Especially because I can now run my light much further forward. Unlike others have mentioned, mine has absolutely zero wiggle to it. I must have gotten one of the updated ones. Unfortunately I won’t be able to take it out to the range till next week to give a good test run.
