  1. Thanks for the good information. #StrangerDanger - is that the GG&G-provided spring, or the OEM spring in your picture?
  2. Yesterday, after installing several updates, I took the M4 out for a session of spirited shooting with its' brothers. Everything went well, with a few TBD items cropping up (mostly Loctite-related), but one issue has me perplexed so, before I screw something up, I figured I'd ask your opinion here. The issue is around my recently-installed GG&G Tactical Bolt Release. After about 50 shots when I switched from bird shot to slugs (limited availability of 12 Ga. here), I began to notice that the bolt release pad was getting progressively more difficult to depress. After shooting all 5 slugs, I examined the gun and noticed that the spring is now sideways (see attached picture)! It was normally positioned before I left, and the M4 was able to perfectly cycle 12 Ga Snap Caps with no problem. So - question 1: what holds that spring in place? I must have messed up something, but was careful and didn't lose any parts/pieces when I installed it. And, question 2: best recommended way to put the spring properly back in without removing the bolt release? I don't have any more roll pins and was hoping to be able to put it in there with minimal disassembly. Thanks for any guidance or advice you can provide. 20210408_171309285_iOS.heic
  3. Thanks for the pointer! Going to warm-up the You Tube machine for some good 'ol fashioned flannel-daddy watching now...
  4. I went with the GG&G “Tactical Bolt Release Pad” for about $124, and it works perfectly for my needs: https://www.gggaz.com/benelli-m4-tactical-bolt-release-pad.html Of course, because it’s ‘Tactical’, it’s way better...right?
  5. I went with a BFG looped through the outboard stock slot in the rear, with a QD to the IWS light mount in the front. Works great for me...
  6. I compared the Modlite to the REIN and, while I *slightly* preferred the REIN’s beam and light color temperature, the Modlite’s 21.8% lower weight won my business. Modlite PLHv2-18650: 5.4oz with tailcap and battery (https://modlite.com/collections/weapon-mounted-lights/products/modlite-plhv2-18650-light-package) Cloud Defensive REIN: 6.91oz with tailcap and battery (https://www.clouddefensive.com/rein-weapon-light/) Compared to my rifle-mounted Surefire 600, this thing is a flamethrower. Now, if I could just get IWC to ship the mount I ordered three (3) weeks ago, I’d be in business!
  7. Stupid question here: what’s the reason for machining the tailcaps on your weapon light? Do you do this because of a clearance issue, or to speed/improve access to the light control?
  8. To follow up on the initial question, were you (or anyone else) able to mount the REIN light (either full-size or micro) directly on the IWC mount? I’m assuming that, if the answer is yes, there is an easy way to remove the included Picatinny mount and attach directly to the Scout screw holes on the IWC mount...right?
  9. After a few hundred rounds through my M4 with the Syncworks/RMR 3.25MOA, I’m back to report that the combo is just about perfect for me. Because of my height (I’m very tall) and arm length, the way the fixed stock positions the M4 when shooting puts the RMR dot in the perfect place for me - it’s just a natural fit. I’m glad I disregarded my initial desire for an Aimpoint T-2, listened to the opinions here (esp.StrangerDanger), and went with the RMR. That said, I can imagine if you had different proportions, another combo would work better. BTW - I went with the 3.25MOA dot because, when I ordered the mount/RMR combo, I wasn’t 100% certain that it was going to work for me. That way, I could detatch the RMR and use it on somthing else (it’s my chosen optic and MOA size for my pistols). I briefly flirted with the idea of mouting my Aimpoint EXPS3 on the M4, but it was not exactly what I was looking for.
  10. I bought the Wolff magazine spring from FFT, which can be seen here: https://freedomfightertactical.com/collections/m4/products/the-freedom-fighter-tactical-wolff-gunsprings-premium-shotgun-spring Seems to work fine - so far, it’s fed both a few hundred A-Zoom snap caps and 200 “real” shells perfectly. ?
  11. About a month or so ago, I bought one of SOCOMguy’s 7-round steel magazine tubes. It arrived quickly, looked to be equal to the quality of any of the OEM Benelli M4 parts, fits and looks great on the gun, and works perfectly. I’ve showed it to another M4 owner, who was also impressed with the quality. Based on my first-hand experience, I’d say this 7-round magazine tube complements the M4 perfectly. Highly recommended.
  12. Scalarworks is sending out the missing 4 parts today. They were very helpful and responsive. You know, any company can hit a bump in the road - it's how they respond that shows their character. In this instance, I could not ask for anything more.
  13. Thanks for the excellent instructions! I just finished installing one of SOCOMguy’s high quality 7-shot magazine tubes (and a new spring and 922(r) follower - and these instructions were invaluable. I wish everything in life went as smoothly...
  14. Thanks for that, Redwingsfansfc. Since posting, I’ve reviewed the listing on the Scalarworks website, and it appears that the two screws shoul have come with the mount are missing. I do have all the stickers, a hex tool, a lens pen, mount and optic, foam and packing material, but no screws. I’ll call Scalarworks first thing Monday and report back here with my results.
