Unobtanium Posted October 26, 2008 Posted October 26, 2008 The safety works so hard that I have to use my thumb rather than my index finger to take it off. Is there a fix? Hide it's foodstamps under it's workboots. Oh wait, that is if it's lazy, not has a good work ethic Oil it up and work it back and forth while watching TV (that always makes things better for me anyways). Quote
tucker301 Posted October 27, 2008 Posted October 27, 2008 The safety uses a rounded ball fitting into a set of impressions in the crossbolt. Spring pressure above the detent keeps the crossbolt in position. Option 1 - Shorten the Spring CAUTION!: Reduced safety spring tension may result in an unsafe gun. Option 2 - Disassemble the safety mechanism and polish the mating surfaces to facilitate smoother operation. Focus on the impressions in the crossbolt. Option 3 - Exercise your fingers. Quote
Drake34 Posted October 28, 2008 Author Posted October 28, 2008 Thanks to both for the information.....and the chuckle. After 5 hours of back and forth while watching the outdoor channel, there is no improvement. The SBEII is at least 10 times as stiff as my Montefeltro. Quote
shotgunNoob Posted October 29, 2008 Posted October 29, 2008 A "stiff" safety mechanism may not be a bad thing. Particularly if small ones are around! If it works, I wouldnt worry about it too much. I certainly wouldnt start throwing any "voodoo" methods at it. A stiff safety beats an inoperable safety!! Quote
Skybroom Posted October 29, 2008 Posted October 29, 2008 I had the same problem three or four years ago. I sent the trigger assembly to customer service and they fixed it and had it back to me in a few days. My safety was so stiff I could not operate it when my hands got cold. Quote
