Correct ammo for M4 carbine

1)Was at reno gun show & purchased 500 rounds of Remington 5.56, 55gr,FMJ. When I got home & opened a box i noticed they were all reloads. The boxes did not say reloads. There is a little residue on most bullets. My Stag M4 is brand new. Will these cartridges damage my M4?

 

2) Are the Federal TRU .223 Tactical Rifle Urban 55gr. Ballistic Tip cartridges appropriate for my M4?

any 55g brass bullet should shoot fine in your AR ... Reman'd ammo is fine. Just be careful getting into 62g+ make sure the twist on your barrel is able to handle the 62g. A 1:9 twist (most common) can get away with the 62's

I'd be nervous if they are some guys personal reloads. I'd take them back if possible.

 

The 55gn should be fine. Your barrel twist rate will determine what matches.

So you paid for factory ammo and got home and you had reloads? I wouldn't be surprised of that guy get's killed by one of his own reloads one of these days. Wouldn't that be ironic?!

What tells you they're reloads?

 

Mil spec ammo is NOT shinny all over, the area at the neck is annealed and discolored.
