Removing rust off the receiver cover?

I've got a question for you guys,

 

I have a Black Cordoba which got a bit wet during my last duck hunt. The receiver cover has a little rust on it now, and I'm wondering what's the best way to get rid of it and polish it up.

Use #0000, that is 4-0, steel wool and a light oil with gentle linear strokes directed along the long axis of the receiver, avoid circular motions.

I was reading about this stuff called Froglube. I'm pretty impressed about what I'm reading, it removes rust and basically is the next best thing in firearms cleaning and maintenance. I ordered some and I'm looking forward to trying it out. It's pretty cheap so IMO it's worth the try. http://www.froglube.com/roothome.htm

I ended up using some Flitz and a non abrasive glass cooktop pad. Polished up pretty nicely. I'll check out the froglube too.

Frankie, Your method (glass/ceramic glass cook-top pad) is the way I’ve removed rust. I also add a couple drops of glass/ceramic glass cook-top cleaner. The cleaner is mainly calcium carbonate and provides a nonabrasive polish. It works very well.
