Pudmullet Posted March 13, 2013 Posted March 13, 2013 I just picked up my new M4 the other day and have shot abot 40 rounds throught it. It will only cycle high brass ammo. Will that change as it breaks in, or is that just the way it is? Quote
M4Whore Posted March 13, 2013 Posted March 13, 2013 First 200 rounds were 00Buck and Slugs. Next 100+ rounds were low brass at 1300fps. After trying different lubes after each cleaning, now it eats anything with 300+ rounds through it. Hope your's won't take as long... Quote

Just means I need to shoot it alot....I can do that! Quote

M4Whore Posted March 13, 2013 Posted March 13, 2013 Tried the oil that came with the gun. Also tried Break Free CLP, various types of grease, Remington Oil and finally Slip 2000 EWL. Can't say it was the last oil used, the number of rounds fired or a combination of both. Last outing I shot a couple of box's of Winchester Universal (aka walmart specials) with the low steel brass. Do not have any problems with them now Quote
KB Fab Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 Run it wet and shoot HP loads for the first 100 or so. Then clean, re lube and try some cheap target stuff. I have a 1oz handload I use in both my M4's with no issues. Quote
M4Whore Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 KB Fab, what hull are you using and what’s your recipe? Powder/grains, wad, primer? Quote
KB Fab Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 KB Fab, what hull are you using and what’s your recipe? Powder/grains, wad, primer? Remmy Hull (STS, Nitro 27, Premier RXP and Gun Club), 21 gr of Red Dot, Remmy TGT-12 wad, Remmy 209 SS primer, 1oz of shot. This is from the on-line Alliant guide. http://www.alliantpowder.com/reloaders/index.aspx Quote
M4Whore Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 (edited) Thanks KB Fab, I see that specs out to 1310FPS. I have to load 1290FPS or higher so that my Remington CTI will function properly. Currently loading Winchester AA hulls, 26 grains of Unique, WW12 wad, Win 209 primer 1 1/8oz shot rated for 1310FPS also. Have purchased a case of STS and after I empty them will load with your recipe. Great quote by "Al". Deadwood is my 2nd favorite series right after Lonesome Dove!
