Cloud 9 Posted December 27, 2013 Posted December 27, 2013 My Daughter needs to have a much shorter, about 13", stock. She's a lefty and I was thinking about a M2 Max-4 12 ga. It took the recoil pad off my Super Vinci and it looks like I cold cut almost an inch off and then carefully recut the recoil pad. might have to do a couple other small addition/modifications but I think it would work. Have any of you ever tried this? thanks Quote
truckcop Posted December 27, 2013 Posted December 27, 2013 (edited) I'm not sure I'd go chopping on a comfortec stock. They're now making "compact" versions of the 12 and 20 gauge M2 with the comfortec stocks. LOP is listed at 13 1/8 inches. I have a 20 ga. version. The stock itself is about a half inch shorter than the standard version and the recoil pad is very thin. It makes a tremendous difference if you need or prefer the shorter LOP. I suppose they'll eventually start making just the stocks available but I haven't seen them listed anywhere yet. If you don't yet have a gun for her yet you might look into one of the new compacts. When she gets bigger and needs a longer stock you can always buy a standard stock to replace the shorter one. Edited December 27, 2013 by truckcop Quote
Cloud 9 Posted December 27, 2013 Author Posted December 27, 2013 Thanks truckcop.......... the compact would be great but they only come in right handed. If I could buy just the compact stock and put it on a left handed M2........ I'd be in heaven!! But I'm hearing it won't fit. Thanks Quote
tucker301 Posted December 28, 2013 Posted December 28, 2013 I cannot imagine why it wouldn't fit. It's not likely that they are changing the receiver designs just for the compact models. Another option would be to find a wood stock and shorten it. RH and LH stocks are identical. Quote
4BFamily Posted December 30, 2013 Posted December 30, 2013 The stock should fit, but the issue might be a LH short recoil pad fitting. That soft snap-in pad would be a little difficult to modify. Shimming will also be an issue; cast will be opposite. Quote
