Cbigldj25 Posted April 30, 2020 Posted April 30, 2020 I have a m4 in FDE thinking about getting the NP3 coating and a few upgrade where should I start any info would be awesome thanks Quote
StrangerDanger Posted April 30, 2020 Posted April 30, 2020 I have done a few of these for clients. With Robar out of business, I sourced a new place that does NP3 finishing at Wright Armory in Mesa Arizona. They offer basic gunsmithing and disassembly services. They laser engrave all the parts and do an excellent job finishing the parts. Now I’m not sure how well their general gunsmith knows the Benelli M4. For mine and others I did the full tear downs to make sure as much of the parts were plated. I would recommend using Np3 vs. NP3+. Regular Np3 costs less and the surface hardness is harder. Cost is very high for the plating. With shipping we are seeing costs around 1100. Quote
Cbigldj25 Posted April 30, 2020 Author Posted April 30, 2020 Thanks SD I really appreciate the info an you pm me your contact info if your still doing the tear down Quote
DFWSFO Posted May 2, 2020 Posted May 2, 2020 Is there a way to get the benefits of NP3 while preserving a darker color? Quote
StrangerDanger Posted May 2, 2020 Posted May 2, 2020 You could have it plated, then have the surface blasted and Cerakoted whatever color you want. It’ll just add to the cost. 1 Quote
DFWSFO Posted May 2, 2020 Posted May 2, 2020 Thanks SD. I was reading up about ArmorLube as well. Seems like an interesting NP3 alternative. Quote
StrangerDanger Posted May 2, 2020 Posted May 2, 2020 There are a bunch of good options out there. Sometimes they have tolerance stacking issues if it is applied thick. I did a M4 in nickel boron with WMD Guns back around 2013. I had a hell of a time fitting all those parts back together. Quote
TorchRedTulsan Posted May 4, 2020 Posted May 4, 2020 It's going to break my heart if you color over that FDE. I was trying to find one for quite a while when I finally settled for my M1014. I'd be tempted to offer to buy yours so you could buy a plain jane one Quote
