Milspec Posted August 25, 2020 Posted August 25, 2020 Am I losing it or did Benelli do away with the notches on their branded chokes? I just picked up a new Benelli Imp Cyl choke for another shotgun from Midwest. It’s marked improved cylinder On the side of the choke so no issue there. After installing I realized it didn’t have the notches on the end. I have the same choke for my M4 and I’m 95% sure it has the notches. I can’t check it because it’s not with me at the moment. These Benelli brand chokes appear to be made by Trulock. I know for a fact that the mod choke which came with the M4 has the notches. It also has a black finish as opposed to the stainless appearance of the Benelli/Trulock version. It’s just throwing me for a loop. I started to think nutty things like I defaced the choke using my Briley speed wrench for the first time lol. Quote
Milspec Posted September 2, 2020 Author Posted September 2, 2020 (edited) Thanks for letting me know. I don’t thing my Briley wrench could have worn them off. I was awfully careful both were brand new. Mine isn’t black either. I‘ve always wondered why the ones that come with the M4s are but the Benelli chokes sold separately aren’t. Weird. Milspec Posted September 2, 2020 Author Posted September 2, 2020 Just got my M4 back in hand. No notches on that choke either. Weird....again. Quote
Milspec Posted September 3, 2020 Author Posted September 3, 2020 Yes, the choke tube that comes installed with it does. However, I've purchased 2 Benelli brand Improved Cylinder chokes and they didn't have the notches. Quote
Vertigofirearms Posted September 3, 2020 Posted September 3, 2020 The Benelli (or Beretta) chokes made in Italy will always have the notches. Should be laser marked BENELLI ARMI. The only one that wouldn't would be the one for the muzzle brake thingy. Quote
Milspec Posted September 3, 2020 Author Posted September 3, 2020 The ones that I have, I ordered from MWG. They cam in the Benelli packaging. I think they are made by Trulock. Quote
SSGRetired Posted June 14, 2025 Posted June 14, 2025 I just got my new Tactical M4. How do I get the choke out without? Quote

All of my Carson chokes have notches so you can use their tool to unscrew them. The Benelli came with a flat/flush ended cylinder choke but the specs said it was changeable. Quote
