Goose hunting.......with an M4?????????

OK, I have never been goose hunting, and an M4 is what I have. How important is barrel length?? Wouldn't the M4 work just as good with the right choke? Regular full choke or something else for steel goose shot?

I'm not sure if it is every state, but I think most states forbid the use of a tactical shotgun for bird hunting.

The gun will work fine. The hard part will be getting close enough to club the goose with it. Go buy a duck, they taste better.

Barrel length makes little difference with regard to velocity and pattern, but it does help with targeting in wingshooting.

 

If you're talking about Canada geese, then you'll need to be able to restrict the gun's capacity to 2 + 1.

If you're talking about snows, then you may not need to limit the capacity.

Check local regulations carefully.

If still in doubt, contact a local game officer for clarification.

Tucker, do you have a shooting restriction on Canada's in the states?

If so we are the reverse here, we've got squadrons of them. They have recently added them to the "Pest Species" list which allows unretricted shooting if they are causing a problem. They aren't the best tasting bird though I must admit.
