RajunCajun Posted June 29, 2007 Posted June 29, 2007 Do any of you have any experience using the earplugs with a valve in them, that are suppose to let you hear normally until a loud noise such as a shotgun blast goes off; and then the valve closes? ( Not the electronic ones) Quote
tucker301 Posted June 29, 2007 Posted June 29, 2007 I've never used the plugs, but the Caldwell electronic muffs work well at the rifle range. Quote
gaowlpoop Posted June 29, 2007 Posted June 29, 2007 The earplugs with the valve in them do not work. The valve requires to much energy to close and is way to slow and when that peak has been reched, it has also reached your inner ear. The electronic one do work however. The clamp the volume at a preset, safe level. Quote
Matt D Posted June 29, 2007 Posted June 29, 2007 I have and use custom fit in-ear plugs from E.A.R. and just this week used SureFires EP3 Sonic Defender. They are very comfortable and muffled / not blocked the shot sound, and allowed me to hear normal conversation. Quote
M3X2 Posted June 30, 2007 Posted June 30, 2007 I have used Sonic Ear and other valve type ear plugs and find them very useful. From 12 ga to .50 cal they work very well. Full size ear muffs get in the way of shouldered weapons and don't allow a good cheek rest to be accomplished. Quote
