Comb insert changing (Comfort Tech)

What's the correct procedure for changing the comb insert on the Comfort Tech stock? (Front, back, left, right, push, pull etc)

Never tried one, but I'd get it as warm as possible and then try get a small thin screwdriver under it at one end to get it started.

 

I've got an outbuilding. It was 115 in there the other day.

About an hour in there would get the rubber (or whatever that stuff is) about as pliable as it can get.

Problem is I don't want to ruin them 'cause they ain't cheap! The manual doesn't cover it.

There's actually 2 different compounds making them up, the softer one is where your cheek rests.

have you removed the recoil pad and looked inside?

I just checked mine and I'd go at it from that route, pushing the back end down and out from the inside with a dowel or other blunt tool.

 

If you've got a vise, you could pad the jaws with something rubbery and grippy like inner tube material or similar, then chuck it in there nice and snug and get after it.

 

If I get bored enough I may try mine tomorrow just for fun.

Just start taking parts out

 

I recall you remove the black clip (of sorts) and that is what holds the comb into place.

If you can get two or three fingernails under the top of it,it peels out upwards. To put it back in,just place it back over the hole,and press it back into place,working around the edges,so there are no little gaps. I can understand your hesitation,these little things are around $75:eek:
