  1. Shotgun tactics and usage are much different than pistol or rifle tactics and usage imo. I've never seen the benefit of a detachable mag fed shotgun, only liability, as least for stand alone use with no backup or support. I like to be able to top off the magazine on a shotgun on the fly. IMO detachable mag fed shottys are not nearly as versatile as tube fed mag, if for nothing other than to be able to immediately switch loads.

  3. First prototype came in. Don’t worry about the green, that’s just for prototyping. It will be black. Will need to make some fitting adjustments since I had to fiddle with it to make things fit and wasn’t a nice experience. In the process of doing this, I came up with a better handguard that will be more ergonomic and all polymer. Doing the mlok rail part might not be a good idea due to potential sales vs cost. Still need to run some numbers. Enjoy the pics.

  4. I have a 9mm pistol on both sides of the bed, but if something goes bump in the night, I go for the Benelli M4 with tactical light which is 3' away from the bed. I have a Remington 870 stashed downstairs. If I have to pull the trigger, I want the most lead on target as fast as possible. Maybe I'm just naive or presupposing most scenarios are best solved with a shotgun. One scenario I can think of where I'd prefer a pistol or an AR ... is a hostage situation where a more precise shot is required (over a shotgun).

  5. Or maybe it's an M-60 sling, lol

  6. I use a surplus M-243 sling, lots of padding, $20.

  8. At the heart of the M3 is still the inertial system so it certainly can affect it. That said, I've found it to be MUCH more critical of having a firm shoulder mount than anything else. If I "free hand" where I let it swing freely my M3 or SBE's, they will fire and eject the empty. But, because they don't have any real resistance, they don't go back far enough to hit the cartridge release and thus never picks up the next cartridge. So, back to your question, you can overcome this issue of lack of resistance (in my case) or extra weight added (in your case) by shooting a higher DRAM-EQ shell. For the 3.5" capable SBE's, I end up shooting the 1 1/8 oz load and it has solved all short cycling issues on both guns. They are still available as el-cheapo loads from Wal-Mart.
