  1. I agree with NCswamp13, heat. It works for rusted nuts and bolts. Of course I am not talking about a torch. I'd start with a hair dryer. Then move up to a heat gun. I think I'd stop there though. I doubt the metal is thick enough to try to chill the choke then heat the outside of the barrel (cold shrinks the choke, heat swells the barrel). It's probably so thin it'd be nearly instantaneous. I assume you've looked at Numrich, Brownell's and Midway for the firing pin?

  3. A little heat might work....but be easy with the heat.

  4. Rose Action Sports cut the barrel down to 14" exactly for a perfect fit with the mag tube end cap (no threads on this particular barrel). 14.5" would have extended a bit past, as I wanted everything flush for tight quarters w/ stock fully collapsed. Very nice cut & crowning work by RAS might I add... We tried to heat up the original front sight to "un-solder" it for re-use, but that was a no-go. At the time, no Vang-Comp sights were in stock/on hand, so we went with a LPA front sight w/ tritium insert from Fusion Firearms: https://fusionfirearms.com/lpa-front-shotgun-sight-low-solder-on-tritium Since the sight is "adjustable", co-witness with original rear sight was no problem. Let me know if you have any additional questions or concerns. Semper Fi!

  5. Sorry I'm a bit late to the party on this, but there is an alternative. Jeff Cockrum of C-Rums gunsmithing can shorten HK M1 (and other model) stocks. I had him shorten the LOP of mine to 12" to make it easier to maneuver and shoulder. Jeff then topped it off with a Kick-Eez pad. The workmanship is absolutely wonderful. It could easily pass for factory original (if the factory was having a good day). He's done three of these for me so far. I found the price fair (less than buying another stock) and the turn-around time very reasonable. Plus he's pleasant to work with. Ed

  6. The most current pics of this M3 SBS project: For those curious, it runs & shoots just as well as it's full-sized brother but has a bit more "kick" to it. Planning Vang Comp barrel work and loading port opening next...
