  8. Got up this morning at about 4:30 a.m. got things cituated for tha hour and a half drive south for my turkey hunt down here in Ardmore Ok,as soon as I got out of tha vehicle owls and crows where going CRAZY not only that tha Gobblers were to I mean in each direction they were going OFF, with me nervous and getting shells in tha ole black eagle I was about to go crazy not knowing where to set up,so I did at the enbankment of my buddies cow tank as I got my decoys(3 position hen and aggressive jack) out and set up tha ole faithfull ground blind it being ole faithfull because I have killed eight BIG bucks from behind it,it wasn't 30 min and I had a ole tom and jake RIGHT up on me SCARED tha MESS outta me when he gobbled,as I got tha ole black eagle in position, got tha bead on tha tom pulled tha trigger BOOM where he lay was where he stayed, man tha Winchester # 6 HV's with the Kick's Gobblin Thunder .655 choke did the trick. This is my first big tom with 9 inch beard at 20 pounds MAN!!!!!!!!!! it made my weekend, you best BELIEVE I'll be out in the morning trying to get another one;) [ 04-16-2004, 04:42 PM: Message edited by: popapi ]

  12. Groundhog I called Chuck at kick's and he told me to use the .655 G/T with the Winchester HV #6 3" shot, and .660 G/T with the Winchester HV#6 3 1/2" I got pretty good results at 30 yards with the .655,but didn't try the #6 3 1/2 with the .660 being that the 3" whipped my tail. I will be trying the wadwizard choke after I do some research.
  13. I have to agree the 3 inch do kick like H;LL,got me scared TOO DEATH to shoot tha 3 1/2. I have not tried them with my SIMS pad yet but I will this weekend. [ 04-12-2004, 04:43 PM: Message edited by: popapi ]

  16. I'm just scared to shoot it because of reading this. http://www.hevishot.com/faq.html Can I use my current Remington shotgun/choke with new Hevi-Shot Turkey Loads? Yes. Remington has extensively tested Hevi-Shot through various Rem-Chokes. The top-selling choke, diameter and resulting Hevi-Shot pattern percentages are as follows: Ventilator (.655") 87% 30" circle, 40 yards Full - Lead Only (.691") 88% " Full - Lead or Steel (.691") 88% " Turkey Extra Full (.687") 92% " Turkey Super Full (.665") 93% " NEW Hevi-Shot (.675") 94% " Tighter chokes than .665" do not improve pattern percentages to any extent and in fact begin to produce more open patterns. Hevi-Shot can produce cosmetic rub marks in barrels and chokes, simply a change in surface finish. Over an equal number of rounds, this rubbing is similar to that experienced with steel shot. Both materials create more choke strain than lead shot due to a more solid payload. With the Remington wad column, the Hevi-Shot pellets rest on a cushioned pad in the shot container that allows the pellets to flow better through the choke. In addition, the Remington Hevi-Shot shot container is much thicker than previous Hevi-Shot loaded rounds and that thickness minimizes pellet contact with the barrel or choke.
