    SBE

I was thinking the same thing since I bought my SBE1 this spring but soon found out new stock did not fit and does not look like a simular stock will be offered for old SBEs. So to reduce the recoil (preceived recoil) I added a mercury recoil reducer in the stock and a prefitted limbsaver butt pad. This significantly reduced precieved recoil, I believe simular to SBE2 that has no add ons. I say this after shooting a round of skeet with a friends SBE2. I purchased a SBE last year prior to Benelli coming out with the SBE II. I was wondering if it was possible to mount the new comfortech stock on the older SBE. And if so where can you purchase just the stock.
  2. I take it by birddog's reply that he thinks it is possible to do some fitting on a synthetic stock. In that vane is there any after market shims for the SBE1 that would offer different fits like cast off, extra drop etc.? I notice on my SBE1 there is enough room between hole in stock and recoil spring tube to give me a little cast off if I had proper shims. I would guess that Benelli could not be responceible for any such modified gun, understandably so.
  3. threeshot, thanks for the information. Good hunting, Regg

    SBE Shell catcher

I am new with automatics and skeet. Are there any shell catchers that will catch two hulls for skeet doubles. I shoot a SBE1.
  5. Thanks for the reply, your conclusions sound logical to me. ATK ,ammunition section, has made some interesting moves in last few years such as the new Federal "Shok" shotshells, buying Estate, as well as associating with Benelli. Makes the company interesting. What do you guess (or know) was the reason to buy Estate. Was it just a marketing decision (increased market share), infrastructure expansion, or did Estate have some patents that were useful. I have become very pro-Benelli since I bought may SBE1 this spring, but have always been neutral on Federal. But must say I liked their new fast lead for phesants last year. I am eager to see if I start salivating when I pass Federal displays in the gun shop. Have a good day, Regg
  6. What is the relationship between Benelli and ATK (the owner of Federal Ammunition)? I see Federal's icon on Benelli-USA home page?
  7. It sounds that you have the same fitting problems I do. For that reason I bought a SBE1 this spring instead of waiting for the SBE2. SBE1's have a D shim available which gives me all the drop I need. One draw back is the SBE1 does not have the cast off option which would be sweet. I love my SBE1. Good luck and good hunting. Regg
  8. I have had a SBE1 for 6 months, and have used it for snow geese and skeet. I have not patterned it with steel but have been satisfied with the target load patterns. Am I missing something? What is the reason for getting aftermarket choke tubes? Not saying it is wrong, just interested in the reason.
  9. For a high velocity steel load we have been using Fiocchi 3 inch, number 2 shot , 1450 (or so) fps, for a couple years now and really like them. A big bonus is they are the least expensive steel load in our area, especially if you buy a case of them.

    SBE1 and Limbsaver

So, I bought a "prefit limbsaver" recoil pad for my SBE1 and it fit very nicely. It did significantly reduce felt recoil. I have a minor problem that I thought someone may have some solutions for. The regular BSE1 stock pad has the heel trimed down for smoother mounting and so stock does not catch on clothes. The limbsaver does not have this feature and it is effecting my mounting of the gun. Is the limbsaver made so I can grind off the heel of the stockpad without ruining the pad? Limbsaver has not responed to my e-mail as of yet. Also what would you recommend to make the edges of the limbsaver slippery so they won't catch on my shirt? I was thinking clear fingernail polish or black electrical tape or what do you think?
  11. A friend just bought a SBE2 and is liking it so far. He is interested in magazine extenders. We were told SBE1 extender will not fit the BSE2. I do not see any SBE2 marked magazine extenders on Benelli's website. What is available? A second question: I thought I heard once that clamping something on a barrel (such as a magazine extender)would effect the barrel in a negative way. Something about changing dynamics of barrel as it responds to firing. Anyone know something about this? Or is this just to do with rifles.

    SBE ejection

I have had my SBE1 only 5 months or so, but have put 4 cases plus of rounds thru it mostly skeet loads. The only I time I have had trouble with ejection/cycling I believe it was due to feeding too light of loads thru it. The 1 1/8 oz 1200fps loads don't cause me any trouble. I am not saying that this is your problem but it is the first thing that came to my mind.

    New Recoil Pad

Hank: Sorry for the last blank reply, seems I have done that before. Hank, do you know if the limbsaver for the SBE 1 is fitted so can just be apply to stock without grinding pad edges etc.? I know you were talking about a different gun but thought you might know or someone else listening. Thanks
  14. Just bought a mercury recoil reducer that fits in stock. When I was at the gun shop they showed me a weight (recoil reducer) that skrews on to the front of the magazine and looks like a 2 shot magazine extention. When I got home I tried to find it in benelli catalog and website with no success. So now I assume this is a after market product. Does anyone know what I am talking about and or have experience with this product. Looks like it should add weight to reduce recoil and reduce muzzle jump.
  15. I like that benelli lists the stock measurements in the catalog and online. But how do I know or find out which stock shim or butt were installed when they took the specs? Of real interest to me at this time are the SBE2 and the supersport.
  16. I really like my BSE 1, however is there available a barrel that is ported, and has long choke tubes that would fit my 2003 SBE 1 (benelli or after market)
  17. I have been useing the cylinder choke with my SBE 1 on skeet and having good results. I am not an expert, but for what it is worth.
  18. My first post did not work to well, but here I go again. I just bought a BSE 1 (pre 2004 model) this spring and love it , especially the stock fit. I use it with the C shim. Now I am looking at the 2004 BSE 2 and when I shoulder it it does not fit at all like my BSE 1. Does the BSE 2 come with shims that will duplicate the old BSE 1 with shim C fit? I am really excited to see a supersport (have not seen them in my area of SD yet)because the specs look simular to the old BSE 1 stock fit.
