I guess the bottom line is if you are willing to pay $600 for the stock it's your individual decision.
-
I think you're right on both. I was able to get one shipped to me for $185.00 after providing Benelli with an employment verification letter. It is being direct shipped to me at the department. Benelli is billing the distributor that I went thru, and then I pay him. Kinda like going the long way around the barn if ya ask me.

I can only guess they were referring to a banned weapon if the expandable stock was installed on the weapon. For the record, I personally have not received any notifications from the ATF regarding this stock. I have a C&R license and the ATF usually sends out updates to license holders. All I can tell you is some people are making a lot of money.

Here is the latest from Benelli customer service. The model 70085 expandable stock has been declared illegal by the ATF. ( So Benelli says) They have been ordered to stop all civilian sales. The stock will still be available to Law Enforcement only with a verification letter on department letterhead and will only be direct shipped to the officers department. I know A dealer here in Ft Lauderdale who has one left. Ho won't sell his last one because he won't be able to get anymore and he wants one too. He called his Rep. from Benelli customer service on the speaker phone while I was listening. After 25 minutes of waiting, they finally answered. Benelli is doing it this way from now on because some unscrupulous type purchased about 12-15 of the stocks after he got word of the impending ban and drove the price outta sight. He's gettin over 6 bills for them and the poor person who buys one at that price will probably be ultimately installing them on what will end up being a banned weapon for civilian ownership.

Ya better check that dealer in NY. He has since raised his price on the stock. He is now asking over $600.00 a piece for them. I's like one too, but i'll stab myself in the eye with a hot stick before I pay that blood suckers price.

You may have hit on something here. I had a **** of a time getting the two piece forearm to seat in the flange area of the receiver. I read the book and tried for about an hour being real gentle with it because I didn't want to screw something up. When I was finally satisfied I wasn't gonna bugger anything up it just needed a little tap with a rubber mallet to get the plastic forend pieces into the recess on the receiver. I'm sure once I get some trigger time in, it may loosen everything up nicely. You don't think there is gonna be a problem when I got to put my extended mag tube and the collapsable stock on do you ?

Can anybody fill me in on this issue ? I just got my M4 today and I noticed that the serial number on the barrel and the receiver are different. The box says it is a 11707 model and it is brand new....One choke came with the gun. It has m4LE on the right side of the receiver below the ejection port. Is there something amiss here ? I saw an earlier post where someone was doing a survey ?????
-
I just picked my 11707 up today the serial number is Y009xxx. The barrel is TM182xx. It is also marked m4LE under the ejection port. It has the standard pistol grip stock......Why do you ask ?

That was a good one Tucker, I have to admit.

Here is what I said wiseguy. "Well I have good news and I have bad news. The bad news first. I went to my pick up my SBE barrel today and after two weeks the gunsmith and only drilled one hole. He said he started to tap it, but stopped for fear of breaking off the tap." If ya want to be a critic get your facts straight. You see anything in there that indicates I said he did, then didn't.
-
Hog Wild, Ya missed that one too. I never said he botched the job. He did get the first hole drilled and taped. He noticed condsiderable flex in his tool as he was taping, and I think he got scared a tap would break off and botch the job so he opted to quit before he ran into trouble with the second hole.. At least he had enough common sense to stop and recommend I use a tool and die shop.
-
He only got the back hole drilled and taped and must have gotten a little nervous, and he quit the job. Maybe his time was more tied up on other projects. I have a local Tool and Die shop that I am going to check with. I'll keep ya posted and thanks for the advice. I am definitely glad I didn't try it myself at this stage. As for the M4 11707. I purchased the last one from a small gunshop in Kansas. I got the last one they had of this model. I'm now looking for an extended tube and the retractable tube stock. Anybody have a source ? Not concerned about the LEO/Military-Govt issue just yet. I am a current LEO. If the ATF sends me a letter telling me I can't have it, I'll stop buying it, sell it, or buy a stamp to make it legal..

Well I have good news and I have bad news. The bad news first. I went to my pick up my SBE barrel today and after two weeks the gunsmith and only drilled one hole. He said he started to tap it but stopped for fear of breaking off the tap. I think maybe the job was a little more than his tools and abilities would allow but he did come highly recommended. Anybody got the name of a good smithy who canb finish this job for me ??????? Now, for the good news. I just ordered my M4 11707 this morning and it should be here by the end of the week...............
-
Ok, ok, so I chickened out. Got the drill, got the tap and some special drill oil. Got my drill press and chuck all ready and then I got to thinking about that Crio barrel.......Nah, I decided to let a real smithy do it. I pick it up this week.
-
What is that barrel length ? 18 "
-
I'm using the weaver #93 base as a hole guide. I'll dimple the drill site with a spring loaded punch. I will chuck the barrel in a padded vice block to keep it from moving around too much. I also have a special drill oil.
-
Did a little extra homework. A friend who owns a gunshop told me I need a Cobolt drill bit and a tungsten tap. Benelli CS told me it was an 8-40 tap. Thanks for the info. I have the padded clamps a drill press, and drill bit guides.
-
I have a spare barrel for my SBE that is not drilled and tapped for a weaver base. Can anyone tell me what the proper drill and tap size are to complete this job ? Any special preparations that would need to be followed prior to drilling the barrel ?

Great story, I too had a need to use Benelli customer service recently. Not a problem. They gave me excellent service and told me where I could locate the item I was looking for. Mudhen, your definitely are the "Big Toe !"

Remington BuckHammers are also excellent.

Atta Boy Tuck ! Give'em a shot. Put the Christ back in Christmas.
-
Hey Tuck, is that a live flower or did you kill it alll by yourself ?

I was looking for their Forum but could seem to find it. Thanks for the info.
