  1. You might not need them, but Snap Ring Pliers are for the removal of your Magazine Spring Seal Ring. It retains the Follower and Magazine Spring under pressure, while you screw the Magazine Cap on the Magazine Tube.
  2. Benelli M4 Full Length Magazine Tube Installation Quick & Easy Installation Instructions 1. Ensure the work area is well ventilated and free of flammables, explosives and smoke alarms. 2. Review M4 disassembly instructions and refer to the spare parts list prior to field stripping the weapon. 3. Field strip the weapon down to the remains of the empty Magazine Tube (no spring or follower), Forearm Retaining Band, Receiver, Shell Stop, and Recoil Tube. 4. Place the Receiver on a non-combustible working surface like a rifle bench, with the Magazine Tube over the edge, Recoil Tube over the opposite end. 5. Set heat gun on 4, on high and aim the heat gun (e.g. Makita HG1100) to the region where the Magazine Tube is threaded into the receiver. While heating, maneuver heat a couple of times inside receiver, aiming heat toward the Magazine Tube and Receiver threaded area. 6. The adhesive compound should start to smoke (between 3-5 minutes, depending upon the temperature), indicating loss of adhesive properties. Once it starts smoking, heat for an additional minute. 7. Next, wearing a pair of work gloves (provides protection and grip), grab Receiver in one hand and Magazine Tube in the other hand, then twist off the Magazine Tube (counter-clockwise when facing the barrel). 8. If the magazine tube fails to budge at this point, apply additional heat around the threaded region. 9. If needed, add additional heat on the threaded area, and proceed to unscrew the Magazine Tube until off. A back and forth twisting motion may help to loosen the Magazine Tube. 10. Remove the Magazine Tube and Forearm Retaining Band. Allow to slightly cool before removing and sliding the Forearm Retaining Band from the Magazine Tube. 11. The remaining adhesive on the threads of the receiver will become brittle and flake as it cools. You may pick the Loctite remnants off with a dental tool or pick. 12. Cleanse the threaded area of the receiver, Forearm Retaining Band and threaded area of the Full-length Magazine tube with a brush and solvent or acetone. 13. Carefully thread the new Full-length Magazine Tube into the Receiver, examining the assembly for proper fit and/or obstructions within the threads. 14. If a proper fit is achieved, unthread the Full-length Magazine Tube; slide the Forearm Retaining Band over the Full-length Magazine Tube. Make sure the prongs on the Forearm Retaining Band fit into the notches of the Receiver, prior to screwing Full–length Magazine Tube tightly into the Receiver. 16. You may opt to use a threadlocking compound (e.g. Loctite 271) on the threads. It is not needed, due to the Magazine Cap secures the Magazine Tube. If Loctite is used, allow the compound to fully cure before use of the weapon. 17. Enjoy your newly assembled Full-length Magazine Tube. Tools Needed: Snap Ring Pliers, Rifle Bench Rest (Bricks wrapped with towels if you don't have anything else), Heat Gun, Work Gloves, dental pick, small brass brush or old tooth brush, Hoppes 9 or Acetone. Loctite 271 if you wish. Enjoy!
  3. Last pic....now just waiting for Freedom Fighter Tacticals forearm / forend to be released:D
  4. Kip, I too say…THANK YOU! Awesome job, color and finish. I just received my carriercomp Full Length Ti Tubes about 1 ½ hours ago. Just as you guys have been describing it, identical in color and easy installation. I stripped the M4 down to the remains of receiver and recoil spring tube. Placed the receiver upside down on my rifle bench (no vise necessary), took the heat gun, (Makita dial set on 4 and high) concentrating the majority of the heat where the mag tube screws into the receiver and every now and then I threw some heat down the inside the receiver toward the mag tube, all of about 3 minutes total. Once it started smoking I left the heat on for about one additional minute longer, then put my work gloves on, grabbed receiver in left hand and tube in right, then twisted the mag tube right off. Sweet! While it was still warm, I brushed the remaining green brittle Locktite off. Took a dental tool to pick off a few leftovers areas, hit it again with the old toothbrush & CLP, looks brand new. Screwed on Kips bad a$$ Ti Tube (no Loctite added) and reassembled it. One tube was a little tight, but fit very well. It took me about an hour from disassembly to assembly. NICE! I then moved to my second M4 and it went just as smooth. Thanks guys for all your input, you made this an easy project for me. I'll send a couple of pic's, here's one.
  5. Very well put StrangerDanger. Kip has GREAT after market parts and it's always better to be safe than sorry.
  6. Through our (BATFE & I) conversations, I also shared with him that I never heard of anyone being arrested, charged or imprisoned for the 922r or the (other reg number this affects). He stated they use this "Tack On" charge to make the criminal plea guilty to the initial charge. They don't have the man power to go all over the nation looking for this specific issue. If your a criminal, they'll find alternate charges for you, so you submit to a guilty plea. From reading all these posts on the M4, I would say "We All" are upstanding law abiding citizens, doing the right thing, Compliance. Criminals don't care.
  7. Thanks a Billion Rocketw19! So Cool...:Dthat's why I love this forum, individuals are willing to help!
  8. Oops, should have made that clearer, you are correct SD, replace with a "USA MADE" FULL length mag tube.. The BATFE attorney stated only 3 parts. If anyone else is at the show, stop by their booth, it's down stairs. And see what type of answer you get from them. Don't forget to switch badges with your friend
  9. Yes, the "USA" made Mag Tube is one part, a follower 2nd part and a Forearm / Forend is a 3rd. Kip from "carriercomp" makes followers and mag tubes and Freedom Fighter Tactical has proto-type of the Forearm / Forend as we speak. Should be completed between end of Shot-Show or end of February for $50 http://freedomfightertactical.com/products-page/forends-and-followers/the-freedom-fighter-tactical-922r-compliant-forearm-forend/
  10. I was at the Shot-Show today and stopped by the BATFE Booth. I struck up a conversation with the BATFE’s Attorney about the 922r compliance parts. BATFE stance is exactly what “carriercomp” and Freedom Fighter Tactical have been stating all along. An M4 with a Collapsible Stock needs 3 parts to be replaced and a Full Stock with Pistol Grips needs 2 parts replaced. After these parts are swapped out with USA Made Parts (which he stated they did NOT need to be stamped “MADE IN USA”) M4 owners are good to go. I also asked him if M4 owners needed to submit a letter to BATFE for the recognition of approved alternate parts. He stated “No”. He stated agents know the quality of an Italian made part vs a knock off version of American made. Then we all laughed. He did mention that the SL8 conversion to high cap mags falls under the same compliance issues. So don’t mess around unless you have alternate parts available. Is there anyone who is making aftermarket parts for the SL8? He did take my name off my badge; guess I’ll be hearing some knocks in the middle of the night, sooner than I think:D. So hurry up FFT, we’s in deep doo doo.
  11. AHH your right KB, d has a Super Nova and I have the Nova Tactical. If I’m not mistaken, and help me out here... the differences are the Nova is one piece stock, its recoil dampener system is the 14 oz. Mercury Cylinder & Bracket and able to interchange two barrels 18 ½ smooth bore & rifled. Now the Super Nova Differences are three interchangeable Stocks with the recoil built in them; Standard ComforTech Stock, Pistol Grip with LimbSaver Pad or Collapsible Stock with LimbSaver Pad. The Super Nova also comes in Desert Camo, Seven Stock Shims, Comb Inserts. Other differences are the Revised Trigger Guard, Receiver Drilled & Tapped for Scope Mount and the ability to interchange four barrels 18 ½, 24, 26, 28. Sounds like our differences are in the terminology of a “Recoil Tube”. There might be a tube in the stock of a Super Nova, I don’t know for I don’t own this weapon. I also can’t seem to find a schematic on this specific model. My question is, if there is a tube, is it really for recoil? I wouldn’t think so. As I look at the schematics on the Nova, which are the same internals in the Super Nova (I watched a few disassemblies of the SN on YouTube). I see no Link attached to the Bolt Carrier which would depress a recoil spring inside a tube. This tells me there is no Recoil Tube or Spring in either stock of these shotguns. Would you agree with that assessment? KB, with all due respect this is all for educational purposes, I’m not trying to be right for I have no problem stating I’m wrong. I’m very curious to know why this tube is back there. Is anyone able to take a few pictures of this or explain it's use?
  12. I regret to differ with you KB. Here is a schematic of the Nova's. This is part of the reason these kick so hard with shooting magnum rounds. It did take a little edge off of mine, but not much. See Bottom Left picture of stock and Recoil System.
  13. Below is a list of definitions from the Federal Firearm Regs. Also keep in mind, if the shotgun being sold has a pistol grip on it, the transfree (buyer) must be 21 yrs of age. The definition of a shotgun under the GCA, 18 U.S.C. § 921(a)(5), is “a weapon designed or redesigned, made or remade, and intended to be fired from the shoulder and designed or redesigned and made or remade to use the energy of an explosives to fire through a smooth bore either a number of ball shot or single projectile for each single pull of the trigger. Under the GCA, 18 U.S.C. § 921(a)(29)(A), handgun means “a firearm which has a short stock and is designed to be held and fired by the use of a single hand.” Federal law provides under 18 U.S.C. 922(b)(1), that if the firearm to be transferred is “other than a rifle or shotgun,” the purchaser must be 21 years of age or older. Certain commercially produced firearms do not fall within the definition of shotgun under the GCA even though they utilize a shotgun shell for ammunition. For example, firearms that come equipped with a pistol grip in place of the buttstock are not shotguns as defined by the GCA. A firearm with a pistol grip in lieu of the shoulder stock is not designed to be fired from the shoulder and, therefore, is not a shotgun. Since it is a firearm “other than a rifle or shotgun,” the purchaser must be 21 years of age or older. Additionally, interstate controls apply. The licensee and transferee must be residents of the same State. TITLE 18, UNITED STATE CODE, CHAPTER 44 Short-barreled shotgun. A shotgun having one or more barrels less than 18 inches in length, and any weapon made from a shotgun, whether by alteration, modification, or otherwise, if such weapon as modified has an overall length of less than 26 inches. THE NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT TITLE 26, UNITED STATES CODE, CHAPTER 53 INTERNAL REVENUE CODE (d) Shotgun. The term 'shotgun' means a weapon designed or redesigned, made or remade, and intended to be fired from the shoulder and designed or redesigned and made or remade to use the energy of the explosive in a fixed shotgun shell to fire through a smooth bore either a number of projectiles (ball shot) or a single projectile for each pull of the trigger, and shall include any such weapon which may be readily restored to fire a fixed shotgun shell. (e) Any other weapon. The term 'any other weapon' means any weapon or device capable of being concealed on the person from which a shot can be discharged through the energy of an explosive, a pistol or revolver having a barrel with a smooth bore designed or redesigned to fire a fixed shotgun shell, weapons with combination shotgun and rifle barrels 12 inches or more, less than 18 inches in length, from which only a single discharge can be made from either barrel without manual reloading, and shall include any such weapon which may be readily restored to fire. Such term shall not include a pistol or a revolver having a rifled bore, or rifled bores, or weapons designed, made, or intended to be fired from the shoulder and not capable of firing fixed ammunition.
  14. Last Pic! And guess what guys.......Dang it, my wife seen the charge. Now I don't know how long it will I'll have to wait, until I purchase the GG&G Bolt Release Pad. As of now, she still don't know I have two of Kips FL Ti OEM Tubes coming. I can feel the hurt now, but I'm gonna feel good when they arrive. and of course the Forearm from FFT.
  15. You we're soooo RIGHT! BigHat FFT's 1/2" Ti Charging Handles are awesome. Here are some Pics
  16. Don't know if you guys missed this link, KB Fab found an "Ample Stock" of these Super Nova Collapsible Stocks for $445. So, just incase you missed this, I started a new thread. http://www.ratworxusa.com/ratworxusa.com/pagDetail.aspx?SKU=Super-Nova-Collapsable-Stock
  17. Here is a Pic & Quote from FFT’s website…. “Here is a picture we took of the first batch of forends that came out. For fun, we tested the first run with a high grade glass-filled nylon. We are not going to use this material in our final run for various reasons, but we thought we’d share the picture anyway. The flash really brings out the texture and coloring of the material, making the forends look like they are a cloudy-yellow color. That’s just the flash, but they do have a cloudy-dark grey/black coloring. Note that the barrel even takes on a gold or yellow hue. But again, we are not using this material, we just sampled it for consideration.” “Just in case you were wondering why the Benelli used in this picture does not have magazine modifications, or any other modifications – this is one of our stock guns for R & D purposes – we don’t play with this one in the field…” http://freedomfightertactical.com/the-fft-922r-compliant-forends-update/
  18. FFT say's any day! As for being notified; "Most of you are asking about being put on a “list” so you get a notification when they are ready. Well, we have started an informal list and if you would like to be put on it, please let us know." Here's the list link..... http://freedomfightertactical.com/freedom-fighter-tactical-922r-compliant-forends-due-any-day/
  19. From what I've read and the pics I've seen +1 KB Fab!
