  1. Yes you can buy the nova with the slug barrel. But if you need a field barrel down the road, you might have a hard time finding one. You will have a better chance buying a nova with a field barrel and buying separate slug barrel. You have find them easiler.

  2. I did pattern the choke that came with it!

I need to know before I buy and waste money wether to buy more chokes and if they matter.

For instance, the gentleman above stated that the IC choke patterned the same at 10 yards.

Now I need to know if a cylinder choke will make a diff at ten yards before I waste money buying it.

If not, then I'm won't buy it.

It will not make that much of a differance. What loads are you shooting

  3. They might not stop with a slug in the wrong place ether. I think the point people are missing is shot placement. Thats the most important thing. IF the shot is is the right place, a well placed shot will slow them down to think about what your going to do next. Shoot again maybe backup and lock yourself in a room with your family and what for the police.

I don't know. I"ve never shot anyone. Don't want to. If that time comes I will do what it takes to protect my family.

  4. first, The shells are fine. 7 1/2 or 8's.

Chokes: You say the beginner range so I think you mean the 16 yard line. The stock modifed choke will be the best for you. When you get better, the full choke might be better(you might step back).

Sights: can you see the sight that is on the gun now? Does or eye pick up red well?

Sight picture: how are you "aiming" the gun? Do you see the rib, or just the front site. Nova's are made to "stack" the middle bead on top of the front site. (like a figure 8).

Patterning: have you patterned your gun at the range with a pattern board? This will show you where your gun is shooting (high or low). It also helps with what choke you should use.

Try and think about these thing before going to the trap field.

What kind of loads are you using for your problem? (yotes, dogs, etc)

  5. I have a SPR 310 O/U 12 gauge. I put about 2000 rounds a year though it and zero problems. the gun cost me 399.00 and I put about 150.00 in it after two year owning the gun. So your looking 550 for an O/U. Is it a browning or Franchi or Beretta. NO!! But I'm averaging 23 on the skeet field and I can limit 15 dove with 20 shells.

  7. I've kinda done the math and I can't justify reloading 12 gauge. walmart sells them almost as cheap. My ruff math is on 1 1/8 loads. Walmart sell 100 rounds of 1 1/8 3 dram for 20.89. Is my math wrong? I reload all my pistol and rifle ammo and there is a big price differance.

    little help please

  8. You talking about this post?

I bought 2 flashlights that were involved in the email only sale. I just wished I would have bought more. They were listed as $18 and some change each. They are excellent lights for what they are. They have a glass lens, a switch (no twist on or off), came with batteries, rubberized camo coating, double o-rings, and a more even light distribution than the Surefire. I tested both bulbs against each other and the Cabela's won with a brighter light and better, more even distribution.

    Here are some pictures:

  9. I was looking on Gunbroker.com tonight out sheer curiosity to see what shotguns were the most listed. what i found was interesting to say the least.this is what i found. Browning-7 pages, Benelli-7 pages, Charles Daly-4 pages, Remington-8 pages, Winchester-9 pages, Stoeger-only18 listings, Franchi-only 5 listings. Odd isnt it. so many expensive guns that are supposed to be so great, are for sale. i want to find a Franchi AL-48 12ga. and i cant find one . it seems that most people that have them are hanging on to them. i would think if all the others were that grand, there wouldnt be that many for sale.

maybe there are selling for money reasons
