  1. Keep in mind, I have been drinking a bit and am somewhat bored. Hence, this worthless post. However, based on my experience(s) with my new supernova tactical, these things are on my mind. For any of you thinking about buying one of these shotguns..think twice!! Not because they are junk, based on my limited experience with shottys, but because they are too damn hard to accessorize! This doesnt seem quite as true with the "M" series Benellis, but it is still a problem. Most gunsmiths seems to be intimately familiar with only two brands of shotguns...Remington and Mossberg. And, once again, all sorts of "ninja" accessories are easily available for brands other than Benelli. I wish I had known this or had at least considered it. You should too... Now, I think my supernova tactical is SWEET. But, then again, this is my first shotgun...ever. I have yet to test its durability and reliability. These issues remain to be seen. If you must own a Benelli, I guess you should save up and get one of the prestigious "M" series special purpose guns. Most places I have seen seem to cater to these more than any other Benelli sold. Im guessing its a military/police issue. Either way, something to consider when purchasing your next or first shotgun. BTW- In terms of Remington, from what I understand, its best to go with the 870 police or marine magnum. Possibly the 870 XCS as well. For the Mossberg..the military style configurations. I welcome any thoughts regarding the comparison of these models vs the supernova tactical. I certainly dont mind "being informed" or hit with constructive criticism. And for those of you lucky enough to own one of the "M" series Benellis, please refrain from commenting. You own a state-of-the-art weapon..this I already know.
  2. Try this website..I recently ordered a +2 mag extension for my supernova. Great service...had it within 3 days after ordering. Also, might I suggest the Nordic Components follower and possibly the rail equipped barrel clamp. Now, I realize this isnt "factory Benelli", but from what I have heard, Nordic sells the best tubes out there. Also, I believe, the Benelli tubes are almost impossible to come by...Either way, it couldnt hurt to check the NC setup. If you just HAVE to have Benelli, try calling this place. Mann & Son (Since 1945) is a full line dealer for several makes, including the Benelli line of shotguns. You can reach them at 618.357.2911. http://www.cactustactical.com/osc/nordic-components-benelli-sbe-magazine-extensions-p-1169.html?osCsid=e1f81cfb01340ef92aae00352c8ea0c9
  3. I currently have the MesaTactical SureShell 4-shot carrier on my SuperNova tactical. I love the looks of it and it seems very well made. But, according to them, this isn't designed for long term storage of shells. Also, as mentioned in other posts, I am having issues with the way the mounting screws mate with the aluminum receiver. I think one has already stripped out. Not sure... Either way, to avoid making things worse, I have been looking at various stock mounted shell carriers. I like the Blackhawk cheek pad/ammo carrier setup, but it seems too bulky. The shell carrier Cabelas sells also seems ok, but Ive heard it tends to slip...not good. This is a home defense shotty and I need better than that! Now, even though I own the Comfortech stock, I currently have the Steadygrip stock installed. This will, more than likely, be the one I stick with. So, any advice and/or opinions on who makes the best fitting/most durable shell carrier for this setup? Thanks.
  4. -BUMP- Once more, I will bump this thread..after this, its customer service time! If that fails, I shall just live with these issues. Fortunately, for now, the chamber finish issue doesnt seem to have much effect on the reliable feeding/extracting of ammo. It just looks ugly!! I guess an expeditious use of Weapon Shield lubricant just might be necessary in order to keep the obviously exposed metal from rusting. Even though I love the looks/functionality of the Benelli, I just might be going with a Remington 870 Marine Magnum or XCS next time. Either that or one of the "military" style Mossbergs. If nothing else, I can be certain parts and/or mods will be FAR more obtainable with these models.
  5. I feel your pain. I have a MesaTactical shotshell attachment on my SuperNova tactical and wouldnt you know it, after shooting roughly 30 rounds or so, one of the screws now just rotates within the receiver mounting holes. It just rotates, but wont "grip" worth a darn. The Mesa unit seems fairly secure in spite of this, for now. I guess 3 secure screws are better than none. However, I am now just waiting for "the other shoe to drop" and expect the need to have the threaded holes re-threaded. Im not sure how you mate steel with aluminum, but I wish Benelli had done this with their tapped receiver mounting holes. Oh well, maybe its time to remove the sidesaddle and just go with a buttstock mounted ammo carrier. Meh..... BTW M1014.. how did you post that pic? I tried numerous times to embed a pic of my chamber coating probs (see my post), but it just wouldnt take. Im new here, so keep that in mind!
  6. Hey, you also might try Able Ammo. They seem to stock quite a few Benelli parts. Do a google search..just type in able ammo. When at their website, look for "Accessories". Then go to "Gun Accessories", then "Barrels and Frames". Once there, choose Benelli under Manufacturers. I saw several barrels for the nova/supernova. I would list the direct link, but apparently I am unable to given my few number of posts.
  7. Benelli parts seem hard to come by..period. Unless, of course, you are lucky enough to own one of their "M" series shotguns. Benelli should make things alot easier for those of us shelling out hard earned cash for their products. Anyway, I saw this post from another forum that may help you out. This post dealt with someone trying to purchase a Comfortech stock for their SuperNova. Maybe this will help you with your shotty. Keep us posted!! Quote: "There's a dealer in the small town of Pinckneyville, Illinois that was one of the first Benelli dealers. They still sell a ton of Benelli guns and parts. Mann & Son (Since 1945) is a full line dealer for several makes, including the Benelli line of shotguns. They're also an authroized Remington repair station. John Mann is the best gunsmith that I've met and is a very helpful guy. You can reach them at 618.357.2911." End Quote.
  8. -bump- Certainly someone has experienced these probs! If Im the only one, then I truly have some bad luck. After waiting for 2 months to receive this shotgun, I dread the idea of having to wait another month or so for Benelli warranty repair(s).
  9. Greetings all.. Well, after taking my new SuperNova Tactical out to the range the other day, I feel pleased with my purchase...so far. This is the first shotgun I have ever owned and to be honest, am not all that great at telling "good" from "bad" at this point. Anyway, I will get to my questions. First, I have noticed the fore-end rattle most people complained about with the Novas. I thought, based on what I have read, that Benelli was supposed to have corrected this for the SuperNovas. To be honest, it really doesnt bother me as I really have to shake the gun to get it rattling. Tightening the action bar retaining pins didnt really help. That just seemed to make it much more difficult to actuate the pump. So, for now, I will live with it. More importantly is my second issue. When cleaning the gun after shooting, I noticed that several spots, near the barrel end of the receiver, seemed to be un-coated. Instead of factory black coating, I found 3 somewhat symmetrical spots that were gold..certainly un-coated. These were located, roughly, at the following locations: 6 o'clock, 10 o'clock and 2 o'clock. Now, when I fit the barrel into the receiver, the barrel extension seemed to cover these spots. So, with everything assembled, looking into the receiver/chamber, you would never notice it. It is only when the barrel is off that these fairly rough, unsightly spots are seen. So, is this intentional for some reason or would this be considered a major defect in the coating? Any help on these matters would be appreciated. Sorry about the long post...but Im new here. Thanks.
