  1. Thanks for the reply. Actually, I currently have the Mesa Tactical unit installed. However, due to various reasons, I might be taking it off. Not sure yet. Either way, I was just looking for other reliable alternatives for storing ammo on the weapon itself. Thanks again.
  2. I took a look at the Sig forum and from what I can tell, regarding the P220s anyway, was that most people were having issues with the carry version or those models with an internal extractor. Its weird...my P220 is only 8 months old or so, yet it has an external extractor. Based upon the latest entries in the Sig forum and also, the images Sig has up on their website...the new guns all seem to have internal extractors!! This seems like and has obviously been shown, a BAD idea on their part. I guess I was lucky enough to get one of the last batches of properly equipped models. Man, I hope Sig changes their current direction. Its a shame..they are such sweet guns..or at least, were.
  3. I will check it out. Havent had any rust issues yet. So, when did this "Kimber" guy become Sig Sauer exec? My Sig P220 was manufactured in Feb of this year. So far, it seems up to the usual Sig standards. Now, as far as the newer/trendier Sig models, I cant say. Seems like the P220 line has ALWAYS been a cut above. Most forums I have read indicate this... in regards to the P220, that is. BTW, isnt the slide assembly made in the US, with the frame being manufactured outside of the US...Germany, maybe? Or is it Switzerland..I can never remember. I think the gun is Swiss in design, but actually made in Germany. Well, at least the frame anyway. Either way, if what you say is true, its a damn shame. Sigs have been top class for quite a while, with the P220, I believe, being their "flagship" model. Regardless, I still love my Sig and as I mentioned b4, have no real need to try other calibers in the Sig line. Hopefully, if you are right about QA issues, they will do whatever is necessary to move back to "first in line"...so to speak. Since you seem like an opinionated sort, what do you think of the Springfield Armory .45's? So far, I havent heard too many complaints and it has been said, these guns are one helluva good bargain. Thoughts?
  4. Basically, I was just wanting to find out if anybody knows whether or not a SpeedFeed pistol grip style stock is available for the Benelli SuperNova tactical? Thanks.
  5. No luck with the Sig, eh? Weird...they have such a strong reputation for quality. As with any man-made product, there is bound to be a lemon every now and then. Personally, I am a huge fan of the P220. Based on what I know, the P220 is the most reliable pistol Sig Sauer sells. I will probably purchase roughly 3 or 4 more over my lifetime as I love the .45 and really have no use for any other caliber. I also think a Springfield Armory .45 will be among my future considerations.
  6. Hey Spoolup...may I ask where you acquired your Remington 870 Police? This will, more than likely, be my next shotgun purchase. However, Im not sure if these shotguns are available to the general public or if I need to have one of my police officer buds hook me up w/ one. Any suggestions? Oh, and what do these generally cost and how would I go about getting ghost ring sights on one of these? I have heard the Remington ghost ring sights are substandard....not sure. Thanks.
  7. I understand what you mean. BTW- $2200+ on a defense shotty? I guess that makes my $420+ supernova tame by comparison! I am hoping the only "compromise" I have made relates to price/practicality!! After all, in comparison, a Glock is no Sig Sauer (which I happen to own), but even at half the price, a Glock will do just as much damage as any Sig. However, like you, I didnt feel like compromising. Unfortunately, I chose to spend the $$$$ on a high end pistol, thus sacrificing the necessary funds for a comparable shotgun. But, from what I understand, the supernova tactical is no slouch!! Either way, I will try to work on my slang phrases!!
  8. Sounds good. Well, I really can offer no more advice other than to recommend getting in touch with Cactus Tactical. Whether or not you go with the +3 or +4, I think you will like the Nordic setup. Now, as I mentioned before, if your Benelli has a plastic follower, you might consider the Nordic Components aluminum/teflon coated follower. Again, just tell them what you need and what you want. I dont believe you will be disappointed. If nothing else, if you dont like what you receive, they will take that stuff back. But, I dont think you will feel that way. Keep us posted!! Take care man.
  9. "If your shotgun currently has a short tube extension that extends past the fixed magazine tube, the round capacity of that extension would be lost as it is removed and replaced. Magazine tube length is the length of the tube and nut". This is a quote from the website I mentioned. So, I guess you are right. Again, I am coming from the supernova end of things, where I have a 4 shot stock capacity w/o extension tubes. A +3 would give me 7. Apparently, you need +4. To put this thing to rest, however, just contact Cactus Tactical tomorrow and tell them what you want and they will tell you what you definately need. BTW..do you really need 7 in the tube? Why not go with a +3, if applicable, and stick with 6? Itll look better. Besides, if you cant do what is needed with 6 rounds from a shotty, then youd better have a backup weapon!!! Just my 2 cents.
  10. Lucky SOB. The only thing I have ever won is a free order of fries.
  11. Try Cactus Tactical...Unless you just have to have a stock Benelli clamp, see if the Nordic Components 12g clamp might work for you. It can be purchased with an accessory rail, if needed. Im assuming these clamps will work w/o having to buy an NC extension mag tube. Check it out.
  12. NS guns there spool...overkill to say the least, but nice. In comparison, my SuperNova tactical has the "pistol grip" stock, MesaTactical sidesaddle (for now), ghost ring sights, a Nordic Components +2 mag extension tube and soon to follow, an Insight tactical light and tritium night sights. This is all wrapped up in "bad ass" black. Now, my gun may seem like a "toy" to some, but it will blow holes as good as any 12g out there!! This is all backed up by a Sig Sauer P220 w/laser sighting.
  13. I think he is wanting a +3, at least. He seems to want a 7-shot capacity, assuming his shotty has a 4-shot max (2 3/4" shells).
  14. It basically means "that'll do" or "I get what you are saying".
  15. Nobody here has a buttstock mounted shotshell carrier? I thought this item might be a fairly popular one. Well, hopefully one of you guys/gals will be able to help me out!! Thanks again.
  16. I believe that Nordic Components bases the overall length of the tube PLUS the nut. For instance..my +2 unit is just shy of reaching the end of the barrel. Because, minus the mag plug, the stock supernova can take 4 2 3/4" shells..my capacity has now increased to 6 overall. Assuming that your shotgun holds 4 2 3/4" shells, I would think a +3 would give you a 7 shell capacity. I believe that anything over +2 will reach beyond the barrel. Its kind of a give and take thing....capacity vs looks. I chose looks as I really see no need for more than 6 shells in the tube. Most of the time, from what I gather, more than 2 or 3 blasts from a shotgun are all that is necessary to end a violent confrontation. This is unless, of course, you are military or police. Anyway, if your shotty, like mine, can already hold 4 2 3/4" shells, just go with the +2. Otherwise, it will stick way beyond the barrel. I believe this would be the case regardless of what brand you choose. To get a rough idea, just take a ruler and measure from the rear of the mag nut out to whatever Nordic lists as the length for +4, +3 or whatever you choose. This should give you a decent approximation of where the tube will eventually end.
  17. "Had a nova, felt like a toy, and had issues out the box with chambering 2 3/4" rounds". I have heard this before. However, I am speaking of the SuperNova. So far, it eats 2 3/4 rounds as if they were nothing. Im assuming you werent "short stroking" the fore-end? Of course, I have no experience with other shotguns, so...Either way, if a shotty looks good, functions well and is hella reliable (not accounting for short stroking or poor maintenance), then what more could one ask for? Once I get my rig all together, I will try to post pics. Although, I cant for the life of me figure out how to upload quality pics to this forum. Regardless, whether its a Remington, Mossy, or Benelli 12g..if someone enters your home un-invited, you have in your possession a very real "cause for concern" on the criminals behalf!! Take care of your shotgun and I believe it may someday take care of you. If not..then go for your pistol!!!
  18. Heh...you should. Ill bet they will say " Who gives a s*** about the color!!! Just quit trying to shoot me, dammit!!!!".
  19. Good enough!! As I mentioned before, it seems as if Benelli has take more care with their high end weapons than those such as my supernova. But, for $420 I guess I cant complain.
  20. Interesting...from what I gather, BF CLP is a Fennel product... as is WS. I have heard conflicting reports on BF..some good, some not so good. Either way, they both seem to be better than average when it comes down to it. In terms of the salt-water test..again, interesting. However, all of my weapons are stored inside the home with very little exposure to harsh elements. Therefore, I certainly dont require the "against all odds" protection needed by those in the military, for instance. But, thanks for the info, nonetheless. Whether using Breakfree or WeaponShield..I think we can both feel relatively confident in our choice(s)!!
  21. I am not sure about the aluminum question. Frankly, I think Benelli made a mistake going with aluminum ANYTHING vs steel..regardless of weight/cost differential. Either way, the Nordic Components tube comes with its own nut. I dont think you would need to worry about this. Now, in terms of the "Nordic Components" lettering..I think they only use that for advertising. Nothing I have of theirs has any lettering...black finish only. Im betting it would be the same with yours. Installed, these components look stock..and slick. For additional info... unless you plan on running a +3 extension tube or greater, I believe the barrel clamp is unnecessary. I bought one (with rail) just in case I need an additional sling mount point or possibly an area for a tactical light. So, again, I dont think the "stenciling" will be on the final product(s). Besides, I can almost guarantee you will pay more for the Benelli tube, assuming you can get it, than you will for the Nordic tube. Dont worry, your shotty will look sweet either way.
  22. In all seriousness though, Duggan, I would just contact Benelli, send them the photos and take it from there. Now, Im sure the last thing they want to say is that "yes, our weapons wear out easily and therefore, tend to become inaccurate". However, it may be a good starting point for you in terms of defining how serious of a problem this is..or isnt, as the case may be. Course, for guys like me who have a shotty for encounters 10-12 yards or less, this kind of stuff isnt much of a concern. Either way, good luck man. It will be just fine.
  23. Oops, I keep forgetting these Benellis have the aluminum thing going. I apologize for that. In terms of WeaponShield not being a capable rust preventative, I must disagree. Now products like Militec-1, I choose to remain dubious! However, I shoot my guns regularly and keep them clean..so maybe I havent put this to the test yet. However, since I shy away from grease, WS simply seems to outperform everything else I have tried up to this point. Frankly, Im getting sick of trying new products, lol. Besides, if I plan on storing ANY weapon for more than 6 months w/o firing or cleaning it, I just stick it in a Z-Corr VCI bag!!
  24. I have to admit, Im new to shotguns and have a supernova, not an M4. First off, I noticed the area of the chamber you are speaking of is devoid of the triad "gold spots" I have at roughly the exact same area. Feel good about this. With the barrel removed on my shotty, I see 3 bare spots of gold colored metal..somewhat equalateral in location. According to Benelli, this is normal. Pfft. Now..on to your shotty. Once again, according to Benelli, this area tends to get worn away regardless. This, according to them, is due to the continual removal/re-insertion of the barrel. They say this is normal and should not effect accuracy nor reliability. I noticed you said that you use a CLP...have you considered WeaponShield? I use it, based on reputation, on all of my guns. In terms of using grease, I would think that, unless you attend to this area regularly, grease would tend to become "gummy" or slopped up with residue. Personally, Im not a big fan of grease as it tends to stick around (no pun intended) too long and accumulates way too much crap. If worse comes to worse, think about having this area re-coated. But, be forewarned, I have tried that route with Benelli for my shotgun issue and they do not consider it a defect of any sort. Again, Im no expert, but if the barrel is mating well with the receiver, I really cant see how your accuracy will suffer. It looks like the finish is wearing out..not the metal. If, once you securely reassemble the barrel to the receiver and you notice no "play", I wouldnt worry about it. After all, this isnt a $10,000+ sniper rifle we are talking about!! Just keep it lubed well in order to prevent the rust thing.
  25. My first thought is..why did you not just purchase a camo'd Benelli in the first place? I guess I can see the need for camo in a hunting type situation, assuming this is what you need it for, but otherwise...I just dont see the need. If this is a personal defense shotgun, dont waste your time. Black, in this case, is much better imho. Actually, come to think of it, the blacked out look is better..regardless. Much more ominous and militaristic. Besides, can birds really tell the difference?
