  1. I would just visit the local gunsmith and go from there. No sense messing with "quick" or "do it yourself" fixes unless you truly know what you are doing. In terms of a used assembly, best way to find one is just to start doing the Google thing.
  2. Not sure if this is anything near what you are looking for, but its at least a starting point. Of course, I wound up using this setup due to limited sling choices for my SuperNova. The "M" series guns such as yours are not so limited. But still, check it out. They have some cool stuff. Below is the thread link where you will find several links to the ERT sling. They make 1 point, 2 point and 3 point slings. They also have "Hybrid" slings which convert from 1 pt. to 2 pt. and back. http://www.benelliusa.com/forum/showthread.php?t=17205
  3. Im just curious...why no side saddle(s), pistol grips or lights? Now granted, these can be fairly expensive add-ons and come with their own set of probs, but they usually prove quite useful. For instance, side saddles are nice for the obvious reasons although, due to the aluminum receiver, can become a pain in the a**. Still..useful nonetheless. Pistol grip stocks, I believe, allow for greater versatility and frankly, better control. The weapon mounted light thing is subjective, to say the least. However, given a "home defense" situation, Id rather have one on the gun than not...just in case. Ever try to manipulate a shotgun while holding a flashlight? It can be done, but its not easy. However, if I had to boil it down, I would go with a mag extension first, followed by a weapon mounted light and last but not least, a high quality sling (preferably a 1 point/2 point). For these I use Nordic Components, InSight and E.R.T. Oh, and since I do have an ammo carrier/side saddle....Mesa Tactical. I have a receiver mounted unit for now and if things go bad and the screws/threads strip out..I have a stock mountable carrier as backup.
  4. Im not sure if this will help much. I have a +2, not a +1 like yours, mag extension (Nordic Components) for my SuperNova and I believe the spring that came with it was around 45" or so. Way too long for my needs. So, I had to cut it down to around 38", give or take. I still have a helluva lot of spring hanging out of the tube upon disassembly. But, everything seems to feed properly and allows for at least 6 in the chamber. Now, that Benelli spring you mentioned. Is this a spare or one that you would feel comfortable modifying? If so, I would just take measurements from the spring you are currently using and cut the Benelli spring down to that length. This, of course, assumes that you have had no issues with the given length of the current spring you are using. If you just choose to buy another spring, I would think about contacting Benelli and find out what spring length would work best for your configuration or at least which spring they tend to use for their weapons equipped with a mag extension. If all else fails and you just want to buy a spring somewhere else, I would probably start with at least 40". It seems better to err on the side of "too long" than "too short." Thats what wire cutters are for!! If my answers/suggestions seem confusing, dont worry...I think I have just confused myself.

  6. Thanks for the replies. Now that I know this truly is "normal", I will probably just keep a decent coat of lubricant on these areas and forget about it. Thanks again!!
  7. Just took these photos to give you guys a better idea of what Im dealing with here. Again, Benelli considers this "normal" and not worthy of a warranty claim. Sorry about the image quality. I couldnt find my good camera, so the cell phone had to do. Either way, you get the idea. So, are these odd looking areas going to pose a problem or not? I understand that, due to the chamber/receiver being aluminum, rust isnt as big of an issue. However, better to be safe than sorry I suppose. Thoughts?
  8. I have this on my SN tactical. I love it. I discovered this set-up after MANY hours of trying to find the right solution for my shotgun (ie. two point AND 1 point capability), as adapters available for shottys such as the "M" series just arent readily available for the SN tactical. The vids below dont show the additional accessory needed for this to work on the SN tactical. If you are interested and have any questions on what is needed, PM me. Either way, it seems like and has been, a cool and very useful sling. (Links posted in earlier thread) http://www.urbanertslings.com/twopotasesl.html http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RvCkFnfUCqI (Installation) (Configurations) BTW- Sgt. Matthew Murray, President/CEO of E.R.T was one of the most helpful, courteous guys I have encountered concerning info on configs and options. This is truly, in my opinion, an A+ company.
  9. Its a smoothbore shotgun. You can fire almost anything with "12g" stamped on it. As for the slugs, use rifled ones...not Sabots.
  10. Hopefully Obama will let the firearm thing go...who knows. But that is another issue all-together!! Anyway, I agree about the accessories costing so much. Not to mention factory replacement parts, particularly the barrel(s), are VERY expensive. For this reason, my next shotgun will be a Remington 870 Police. However, I still like my Benelli even though it will probably become a safe queen once I grab a Remington.
  11. Any good local gunsmiths around? Maybe run it by them and see if they spot any immediately noticeable issues. Hopefully this will at least begin the process of elimination w/out having to send it off to Benelli.
  12. Ordering the clamp, eh? LOL. I have that one as well. I bought it so I could mount this InSight M3X light I have. And no, my Nordic items do not have the lettering. From what I understand, it is somewhat of a crapshoot as to whether or not this lettering will end up on the hardware you buy.
  13. First off, I have the EXACT same configuration as you. This includes the Nordic Components +2 mag extension tube. Yes, it will fit and should end up roughly 1/4" or so behind the barrel. The part number you referenced seems to match. Just in case, if THIS (see below) is the one you ordered, I feel you should be good to go. http://www.cactustactical.com/osc/nordic-components-benelli-nova-beretta-extrema-magazine-extensions-p-1224.html Might I also suggest the Nordic Components follower ( the gold one). Its probably not a bad idea to replace the sh*tty plastic follower which came with the gun. I did. http://www.cactustactical.com/osc/nordic-components-gauge-shotgun-follower-p-1257.html Now, for the Meprolight thing, I cant say. But, from what I understand, sights arent that hard to deal with. However, if you dont want to mess with this, Im sure any competent gunsmith could install them for less than $20. And yes....you can shoot slugs through this gun. Keep in mind, since this is a smoothbore shotgun, use rifled slugs..not the Sabot type! Also, no recoil reducer comes standard on this gun, that I know of. Congrats on your purchase!! You will LOVE the pistol grip......
  14. How many rounds have you put through it? Have you considered a worn out or faulty extractor/ejector as the culprit?
  15. The SteadyGrip stock for the SuperNova fits the SBE ll and the M2, according to Benelli. Im not sure about the SBE though. Therefore, the listing is at least 75% correct. If you look at the SteadyGrip, it has 2 additional parts: a metal O-ring type spacer (?)/adapter and a rubber stop of some sort. I think these parts allow it to fit a weapon such as the M2, possibly the SBE ll. However, for the SuperNova (tactical anyway), these parts do not seem necessary. Part#: 60015
  16. Im not sure if this will help, but it may give you a starting point....or at least some ideas. http://www.tacticalshotgunner.com/pushbutton-sling-swivel-m4m1014-p-75.html http://www.tacticalshotgunner.com/ggg-benelli-single-point-sling-attachment-p-77.html Personally, Im using an ERT Urban-Sentry Hybrid sling as I have a SuperNova Tactical and this was the only solution I could find for my needs. Of course, for the 1-point adaptation, I had to buy an additional item. I dont think you would need to with the M4. Anyway, even if this doesnt suit you, its interesting nonetheless. Below are some links for this set-up. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RvCkFnfUCqI (Installation) (Configurations)
  17. Yeah, needle nose pliers would work best here. But as stated earlier, the retainer cap can be gently pryed out with a screwdriver. Not too much pressure is needed to release the tension. Either way, just keep a screwdriver centered/placed firmly on the plug/in the middle of the spring so that, when the retainer cap is released, the spring wont come flying out. Ive found that a thick, flathead screwdriver works best for this.
  18. To be honest, Im no pro at this stuff. But, based on what I have read, mainly from the owners manual, it really shouldnt matter which locking plate configuration you use as long as you make sure to use the proper shims. If the left hand position for the locking plate works for you, Id think it would be fine. Again, just make sure the shims/locking plate are of the correct letter format (ie. Z-ZSX-SX, A-ASX-SX, B-BSX-SX or C-CSX-SX, depending on your desired drop) and alignment/position. If you have an owners manual, thoroughly read the section regarding this topic before you start messing with configurations! One advantage of the SteadyGrip (pistol grip) Benelli stock is that this stuff is moot. No shims or locking plates needed. Just bolt one up and enjoy!! But seriously, read the owners manual. If you dont have one, download it from the Benelli website. From what I understand, if the locking plate/shim configs are not correct, you could deform the recoil spring tube (this is according to the Benelli owners manual, anyway).
  19. So, Im assuming you got it worked out? Let me know if you run into any more probs.
  20. K..That makes it easier. Just read my previous post. That should get you started. Any other questions, feel free to PM me. Oh..and to quote the owners manual about removing the buttpad...."Grasp the bottom of the buttpad and pull upwards." Do this while simultaneously pulling away from the stock. Yes..its tough. Be sure to have a FIRM grasp on your shotgun when doing this. Particularly when taking it off for the first time or so. Also, just thought of this, if you are having a very hard time with this, you might try warming the pad with a hair dryer. Just dont get it too hot. But, this should make the rubber more manageable.
  21. Of course, this guy didnt seem worried about WHY the plug was there, but rather HOW to remove it. If this is primarily a home defense shotgun, take that d*mn plug out!!!
  22. First, Im not sure how the recoil reduction is with the SureGrip vs ComforTech stock as I immediately installed the SureGrip (pistol grip) upon arrival. But, the pistol grip offers very good control and seems to allow you to really bury the stock into your shoulder. Plus, I feel like it places your wrist in a more "natural" position. Now, for the removal. I think you need to pull up or push down (cant remember which, offhand) on the pad as you are pulling it away from the stock. From there, just take off the bolt, bolt plate and the "shims" you find between the stock and the receiver. When installing the pistol grip stock, I believe you will, as I did, need to remove the metal "o-ring" that you should find installed at the front of the stock. Now, this is assuming this is going on a SuperNova tactical or the like. You will know whether or not you need it. I did not as I couldnt fit the stock onto the stock rod with this part installed. Also, the SureGrip stock should come with a small rubber spacer which fits into the lower base on the front part of the stock. This also, in my case, was not needed. Feel free to PM me if you need more help or have more questions!! BTW- What shotgun will this be going on? That would help. Good luck.
  23. Personally, I would just hang on to it if I were you. You never know when it might come in handy. Either way, you will love the SureGrip stock. It has a very nice feel and good balance.
  24. I cant speak about your gun, but with my SuperNova tactical, I had a "plug" as well. It resided within the spring and was resting up against the spring cap (not the same as mag cap). Anyway, I just removed it and gained and extra 2 rounds. For your gun, I would refer to the owners manual, if you have one. If not, go to the Benelli website and check out the PSD version for your shotgun. The plug is very easy to remove.
