  1. Hey SD, Did you use the blue Loc-tite per the instructions when you installed your Troys? BTW I received the Bassett scope mount today! Hookster
  2. Hey SD, I picked up the tritium folding HK style front and the tritium folding rear (the regular style not the new DOA aperture) I also recently picked up one of the Aimpoint flip up cover with the integrated flip up flash kill for the Socom-16 http://dynamicarmament.com/items/mounts-optics~scopes/aimpoint/aimpoint-m4-m4s-flip-open-lens-cover-w-Killflash-12462-aimpoint-m4-flip-open-ard-cover-front-12462-detail.htm Later, Hookster
  3. .......and do things to them... I shall! Yeah Madison....You got that one right! I'm already looking at a whole lot more spending to get it dialed in how I want. I just ordered a bunch of different 168gr loads to see what it likes to eat best. My Troy tritium sights just arrived today too for my LMT MRP setup....Yea! Btw...Welcome to the forum! 4. Hi Matt, Welcome to the forum! There are a couple used VG condition ones on Gunbroker right now. Here's one: http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=164319621 Do you live in Iowa? I lived in Ames for a few years when my GF went to Veterinary School at ISU. Back in Kalifornia now. You might also try Brownell''s and Numrich. You may sometimes see the stocks listed as for M3. The M1 and M3 interchange. Later, Hookster
  5. Hi Prime and welcome to the forum! I don't have a Supernova but I think the older ones weren't tapped but the newer ones are. Did you buy yours used? I imagine as long as you drill and tap in the same positions as the newer ones, you should have no problem or you could pick up the Sidearmor and use it to locate the holes. Sidearmor has been good with me about answering questions quickly if you have any. I have a Sidearmor rail on my M4 Later, Hookster
  6. Si Senor Skeeter! Tejas es muy bueno! El Hookestro
  7. You won't be getting the rail on without some tapped holes but you might want to take a look at the Sidearmor rail too if you haven't checked it out already http://www.sidearmor.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=7&products_id=62&zenid=j8krtgo15kvra1th7fscbdh2r1 Later, Hookster
  8. I was thinking the same thing when I was driving to the gun shop.... Thank you restrictive Kalifornia laws!!! You helped me score an M1A upgrade!! Hookster
  9. Yeah, I'm definitely stoked on this one! It was hard to sleep last night!! I got an e-mail that the Bassett shipped out yesterday too!!......Life is Good! Later, Hookster
  10. I like magic!! Maybe he can do the trick with the Chinese linking rings!
  11. Hey All, I got a call from the gun shop that the guy that had beat me to the punch picking up the M1A "Loaded" model had backed out of the deal. I have now upgraded my purchase from the Standard to the Loaded with the stainless match barrel! Later, Hookster
  12. Yeah, That's irksome, I'm sorry I can't tell you if it's a fit or not. Good Luck on your Quest Hookster
  13. Here's a black one for $160 http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=163827448 Later, Hookster
  14. Yeah.... I've had the same thoughts about putting a high dollar scope on a 2-3 moa setup but I'm going to view it as a investment that I could enjoy now on the M1A and use on other platforms in the future and with my eyes getting close to being 49......magnification is my friend Later, Hookster
  15. Congrats on the iPad .......I wonder what flavors the jelly comes in Maybe I'll order some in Infidel flavor so we don't get bombed
  16. Where's your compassion Skeeter? He's just trying to make a meager living selling Viagra and Kamagra Oral Jelly on the internet. Maybe Obama will force us to buy these things from him in the near future! _OO_K_T_R
  17. There are so many choices/options to sift through with just Leupold Mark 4 scopes alone it will take me a while to choose but It may end up being something like this http://www.leupold.com/tactical/products/scopes/mark-4-lrt-riflescopes/mark-4-6-5-20x50mm-lrt-m1-illum-reticle/ or maybe the 8.5x-25x?....I still have a lot of agonizing ahead regarding magnification range and options I want it to be something nice I could use on other rifles later if I want. (like a LWRC REPR ) Hehe http://www.lwrci.com/p-120-repr.aspx I am however going to move ahead with the Bassett scope mount. Here's a demo video of how easy it goes back on, supposedly within 1/2 moa of where you had it It seems way more straight forward then the Sadlak mounting instructions Later, Hookster
  18. Yeah, I'm looking at the regular Picatinny (not the low) it says you should be able to use the irons with most scopes http://www.bassettmachine.com/prod_smpr.htm I think the "should" part in there is CYA in case someone had a scope with a huge bell end. Being able to use the irons with the scope in place is a big draw for me too! I haven't picked a scope yet but I think I'm leaning towards a Leupold. I'll keep you posted when I narrow things down. Later, Hookster
  19. Hey Taylaboy, Have you looked into or formed any opinions on the Bassett mounts? http://www.bassettmachine.com/ The general consensus seems to be they are easy on/easy off and holds zero. They claim within 1/2 MOA. I've been hard pressed to find a bad word about them by anyone who has tried them. Later, Hookster
  20. Hey Taylaboy, Skeeter and Nemesis! I just got back from the gun shop. Their supply of M1As had been significantly reduced since last week including the Loaded model that I had looked at. They had sold the Loaded, a Standard with a synthetic stock, a Socom-16 and a Socom II since I was there Saturday. Apparently, it was a great week to be selling M1As! I did however pick up a Standard M1A with a Walnut stock Taylaboy, I still think that I will proceed along the route you suggested and do my old build. But I want to take my time and I still have some knowledge to aquire. I'm pretty sure when I do move ahead with the high end parts build it will end up in a JAE stock and I really also want to have a scoped M1A in a nice wood stock just to play with....hence today's purchase! I'm really getting into these guns which is funny for me since they are a little more old school and I'm usually more into the latest and greatest. Whatever it is about them, I've definitely fallen for their charm. Actually.... I had been on the verge of picking one up in 1999 but ended up picking up a 7.62 Galil instead. I had been thinking that I'd probably go with a Sadlak scope mount (the titanium or the Airborne Steel) and have them do their custom fit work for $45 to make sure I got a good fit with the out of spec SA receiver but I think I'm going to give the Bassett picatinny mount a try based some recommendations and a lot of good feedback about them that I've seen on M14TFL. I'll keep you guys posted and I'll get some pics up after the 10 waiting period is over (like Homer Simpson says.....10 DAYS!!!...BUT I'M MAD NOW!!!!!) Later, Hookster
  21. Hey Taylaboy! I have been considerating the do it yourself route. I should probably pick up the "Complete Assembly Guide" book and read it before I went that direction. If I do move ahead with picking up the SA M1A Loaded I don't think I'd be viewing it as my last M14 type rifle purchase by any means. quick question: With all the changes you've made to your Scout were most of them motivated by actual problems/malfunctions that you experienced, trying to improve accuracy or just wanting to know that you had the best quality parts on board? There are so many opinions on everything at M14TFL it can sometimes be a lot to sift through Take Care, Hookster
  22. It would probably be easiest to just buy a Springfield rifle and start from there but you aren't limited to Springfield Armory. The M14 platforms are like ARs in the respect that you can build or have built whatever you want or have the budget for. Some of the real nice stuff is put together by LRB http://www.lrbarms.com/ M14TFL.com is a great source for info Later, Hookster
  23. Ah Yes! My mind control experiments are still going exceedingly well.......... Soon..... I'll have you sending me all your goodies! If your going to scope it and put it in the JAE stock you are paying for a couple extras with the Super Match that you don't need (glass bedding in the stock and finer .5 moa adjustment on the rear sight elevation etc.) Also, If you want the JAE make sure they have it to fit the Super Match's heavy barrel. They probably do but I'm not sure (the Loaded and the National Match are medium weight) Later Bro' Hookster
