  1. My rebate check arrived today. I bought the shotgun mid October and mailed the rebate documents the next day. The on-line status message said I didn't buy an eligible shotgun or other such nonsense. First real response I got was the check in today's mail. -- Chuck
  2. Not exactly "target" shooting, just pattern testing. This is Winchester Ranger "law enforcement" reduced recoil 00-Buck. (RA12005) All nine pellets in the 0-ring at 15 yards off-hand. Slug was in the same circle (not photographed). -- Chuck
  3. OK, the HK forum is awake this morning! Guess I better contact Mesa Tactical... -- Chuck
  4. Thanks, Google didn't hit it for me, hence the question. HK forum is server-overloaded (or something) at present... -- Chuck
  5. Is there a way to shorten the standard M4 fixed stock? This is at least an inch too long for me. I wouldn't mind sending it out for good work if necessary. -- Chuck
  6. Not sure where you're buying these, but the 8-shell Mesa side saddle for the M4/M1014 is $92 from Brownells. ... and the 6-shell model is $80. -- Chuck
  7. Not sure what you guys think of the MagPull videos, but the elastic shell carrier is one they recommend. Not The One, just One Of. -- Chuck
  8. Mesa Tactical side saddle installs easily. I don't have much experience with it though. The one with the rail is for the Benelli M4. -- Chuck
  9. How tight can the barrel be choked and still handle slugs? -- Chuck
  10. All slings suck but some suck less than others. They have a habit of getting in the way or otherwise wrapping around body parts. Single point slings look kool and have application if you're on a SWAT or military entry team but are otherwise (as noted) a Pendulum of Pain. You have no control of a single-slung weapon (shotgun or carbine) during movement unless you use your hand(s) which negates the major purpose of the sling which is to free your hands. Modern two-point slings have quick set/release buckles to secure the weapon tight to your body during movement or when using your pistol. Three-point slings like the Giles Sling (named after Giles Stock) offer superior retention in combat situations at the expense of complexity. My preference is a two point sling with the aft attachment between the receiver and stock and the forward attachment at the end of the forearm. Doesn't get in the way under most conditions. Secondary aft position toward the rear of the buttstock as the M4 Shotgun comes stock. Most training courses require a sling as they teach transition to the pistol and don't want you dropping your primary weapon too often. Since you need professional instruction you should see what sling they prefer and start with that. -- Chuck
  11. Not a whole lot to see, but here's a couple of shots. No sling yet. -- Chuck
  12. I'm happy to report the GG&G side sling loop is now on my M4 Shotgun (I knew you'd be worried! ) The stock bolt was heavily blue-Locktited (if that's a verb) and took a lot of torque to get off with the deep 13mm socket. Also happy to report the trigger group almost drops in with the extra space from the sling loop. Waiting for sling parts. -- Chuck
  13. Thanks very much for sharing these! Lots of disposable income for college boys! A bit different than us busting beer cans in a quarry in the olde days. Lots of practice is apparent, too, from the results shown. I may have to drag my short barrel M14 out again and see how she does in these scenarios. I'm curious: What bolt handle is on the Benelli shotgun? The stock handle is shocking small (I'm still shocked USMC accepted it). My other issue is the handle is so far forward I have to dismount the shotgun from my shoulder to work it. -- Chuck
  14. Is there a SOURCE for any of these parts? -- Chuck
  15. I mailed my rebate information in two weeks ago and I just received this message: I sent the extra labels that were inside. I'll try again cutting the labels off the box. Not happy. -- Chuck Update: Check received 13 Dec 10. No letter (as specified above), just the check. Happy.
  16. The weapon could care less if it's muzzle up, down, or sideways. I can get more long guns in my safe if some are muzzle down. None of them care. -- Chuck
  17. See my correction at the top of the page. (The stock does twist off.) I gave up fitting this part this afternoon as I need a deep 13mm socket. Off to the hardware store tomorrow. I've had trouble getting the trigger group back in all three times I've had it out. Any tips? I use the SOE bungee shing with my M4 Carbine. Has HK hooks, but these won't fit either the GGG or stock rear mounts. I prefer a two point sling but the SOE allows the flexibility of making it a single point. -- Chuck
  18. Not sure what your question might be. Check the specs. The MR1 is 5.56mm and will have the same "kick" as the US M4 Carbine. The R1 is a large caliber game rifle that Benelli claims has "half the kick" of the same caliber in other rifles because of proprietary recoil reduction. .30-06 kick is pretty stout, for example, especially without a butt pad. Any 12 guage shotgun, including the Benelli M4 Shotgun, has in my experience, more kick than a .30-06 rifle. Benelli makes some premium firearms, but there are better 5.56mm NATO and 7.62mm NATO weapons available from dozens of manufacturers all based on the ubiquitous M16 system . Not sure the niche of the R1 at all. The MR1 seems to be a high end hunting rifle and neither is a "tactical" weapon. -- Chuck
  19. You missing the fact that the only way to remove the fixed stock from the M4 is thru aft end of the stock. And that requires removing the butt plate. I'm betting the telestock is different. I just got the stock off and it does indeed just unscrew. The stock bolt, though has to be adjusted and that's accessed thru the aft end. Still not done mine. I'm blaming the end of DST for after work laziness... Since the mount loop isn't large enough for HK-type hooks I need to find a sling with a short, detachable fabric attachment for at the mount. Vickers Victory will work; the padded model will be more comfortable based on the weight of this shotgun. Standard M4 front sling mount will take a 1.25" sling, but the mount on the stock will only take 1". The GGG mount will take 1.25" slings. -- Chuck
  20. The Benenni will drop the hammer with the bolt out of battery, just like the M16. And just like the M16 the firing pin is too short to reach the primer unless the bolt has rotated and retracted itself fully back into the bolt carrier. If you're worried about beating up your firing pin when decocking: Clear the weapon, close the bolt to about an inch before fully closed, and and snap the trigger at that point. A cursory visual check of the angles indicates the hammer strikes he lower section of the bolt carrier and not the firing pin. Oh, yeah, the red dot doesn't show after this. Sua Sponte, -- Chuck
  21. The Marine Corps manual I have is probably horribly out of date (November 2000) but even it implies that no dot means not cocked or loaded. Not the case as just proven in Super 33's backyard life fire test (and mine moments ago with snap caps!). The red dot is a sure sign that the shotgun is cocked. But lack of that dot doesn't mean it ain't! The critical thing to remember is: There is no decocker! -- Chuck
  22. Did you get this mounted? I have the device on my desk and, like you, find the instructions confusing. The only way to remove the fixed stock is thru the rear and that require removing the buttpad. I may attempt this tonight... -- Chuck
  23. I found the link to the photos but can't see much. Do the muzzle brakes only have holes on the top (as I'd expect)? What keeps them indexed on the barrel? Thanks, -- Chuck
