  1. thank you for this. i don't blame you. i'll probably do the same thing. i'm just glad it's not cockpit error
  2. one of the reasons americans feel so strongly about the right to bear arms is to keep the king of england out of our face. LOL. and it gives our own government something to think about as well. crime would be a LOT worse here if honest americans weren't allowed to defend themselves. btw, i keep two shotguns (a benelli M4 and a remington 870P), a Barrett Rec7 (6.8 caliber) and an H&K USP compact .45 under my bed. also, it seems that #1 buckshot might be the ideal choice for home defense according to http://www.firearmstactical.com/briefs10.htm The summary from this article states: Number 1 buck is the smallest diameter shot that reliably and consistently penetrates more than 12 inches of standard ordnance gelatin when fired at typical shotgun engagement distances. A standard 2 ¾-inch 12 gauge shotshell contains 16 pellets of #1 buck. The total combined cross sectional area of the 16 pellets is 1.13 square inches. Compared to the total combined cross sectional area of the nine pellets in a standard #00 (double-aught) buck shotshell (0.77 square inches), the # 1 buck shotshell has the capacity to produce over 30 percent more potentially effective wound trauma. In all shotshell loads, number 1 buckshot produces more potentially effective wound trauma than either #00 or #000 buck. In addition, number 1 buck is less likely to over-penetrate and exit an attacker's body.
  3. it's VERY easy to unload the magazine tube on my remington 870, so i just assumed that it would be equally easy on the benelli. one thing odd though is that it's the last shell in the tube that's VERY tough to release. intuitively, you'd think that shell would be the easiest. maybe the shell release will loosen up a bit after the gun is used a while
  4. i'm a proud new owner of a benelli M4, and i am learning a lot from reading this forum. i've been familiarizing myself with some of the basics (field stripping, cleaning, lube, loading, unloading, etc.). very nice. i love the feel and sound of cycling the action! but i'm having some problems emptying the magazine tube by depressing the front end of the shell stop. i've noticed that when the tube is full, the first few shells can be released fairly easily by depressing the front end of the shell stop. but releasing the last shell is very difficult (cussing and swearing difficult). am i doing something wrong? is there a trick to this? or maybe the gun is just new and the shell stop will loosen up after a few hundred rounds? any advise would be appreciated thank you.
  5. thanks for the quick reply. i was hoping they put marks like mine on all their guns. i was having nightmares that they only put these marks on "rejects" and some how i ended up with a reject
  6. i hope this isn't an obvious question. i tried searching through the archives, but i didn't see anything. i think these symbols are proof marks, but not sure. i read somewhere about a book titled ''Shotgun Encyclopedia'' by John Taylor, that reveals what the markings on a Benelli means. does anybody have this book, and does it explain these symbols? TIA
  7. i have the same issue. if you go with a non-collapsible tube this means that your c-stock will be locked at the fully extended length, right? i probably want my c-stock locked in the middle position. i spoke to a couple gunsmiths recently, and i told them i wanted to find a way to pin the stock to the tube. they said the way they like to approach this problem is to find a way to "pin the pin" so to speak. they prefer to find a way to lock the "adjustment mechanism" making it inoperable rather than actually locking the stock to the tube. sounds like a reasonable approach, but i'll feel better once i take them the Benelli M4 (11707) AND the Benelli c-stock so they can look things over closely.
  8. Sounds good to me. I'm in
  9. in northern california you'd be arrested for even carrying a picture of a loaded gun in your car http://www.benelliusa.com/forum/images/smilies/mad.gif
  10. sorry. i don't mean to hijack this thread. just a quick question. i am having problems posting pictures. does anybody know if you have to have a minimum number of posts before you are allowed to post pics?
  11. i'm planning on using a gear sector 2-point sling. jason suggested that i could use their optional H&K Snap Hook adapter to attach the sling to the small hole near the toe of the Benelli C-stock. i'm trying to attach a picture to this reply, but it won't let me or i haven't figured out how to do it??? but you can see what i mean at this link: http://www.gearsector.com/browse/category/adapters/hk-snap-hook-adapters/
  12. is it an older "pre-ban" M1 super 90 (i think it would say "heckker & Koch" on the receiver)? do you know approximately how old it is? it's my understanding the pre-ban M1 super 90's allowed ghost loading, and the newer models do not.
  13. thank you for this link. those are the pictures that i was looking for
  14. there's a small round hole near the toe of the benelli collapsible stock. is there a sling mount adapter specifically for this? i initially thought it was a mount point for a QD button, but it's not.
  15. maybe i missed it, but i've looked all over carriercomp.com for pictures. i stumbled into some pictures of a prototype, and i was surprised at how much "cleaner" it looked than the other after market tactical charging handles i've seen. if i can find the picture i'll post it in case others might enjoy seeing what's coming down the pike
  16. i saw a picture of a prototype recently (looked very well done), but i can't find it. does anybody have any pictures?
  17. any news on the carriercomp tactical charging handle? i stumbled into a picture of a prototype the other day, but now i can't find it. if someone has the picture please post it thanks!
  18. can you use the original sling mount bracket with the carriercomp FL magazine tube?
  19. but you are absolutely right about more useful pictures. if would be very helpful to see some pictures from different angles that show various finishes and/or colors of magazine tubes in context with the entire shotgun. maybe we'll get lucky and someone will post some pictures like this eventually.
  20. henry ford famously said something about customers being able to order a model T in any color they wanted as long as it was black.
  21. "zombie bears" i love it. i'm going to order OEM, but if kip offered colors like "FDE (flat dark earth)" i would jump on it.
  22. i'm in Commifornia also, so we both have the same problem. i want an M4 with a Benelli C stock so i spoke to a local gunsmith about the idea of locking down the stock. he told me it can be done, but the end result will be a pinned stock that cannot be adjusted. this may be an acceptable solution, and i am considering it. but i would prefer a solution that would allow the length of the stock to be adjusted if necessary (using tools of course so to keep within the law). i also spoke to another gunsmith about this same issue, and he said "i'm not going to look for a solution to "PIN THE STOCK". I usually come up with a solution that pins the "Stock Adjustment Release Mechanism" which is usually pretty simple." hmmmm. okay. this sounds good. but since he hasn't ever worked on a Benelli C stock before it may be that there just isn't a clean solution to "pin the pin" so to speak so it can be removed (with tools of course) for later adjustment and disassembly. it would be a lot easier to simply give up and go with a mesa tactical urbino stock, but if we do this then the terrorists win. LOL. let me know if you want contact info for the gunsmiths that i've talked to in case you want to pursue their Benelli c stock solutions.
  23. yes. probably the middle position would be ideal. there's a good gunsmith in town. i'll run this idea past him. then i need to double check to make sure that the politicians will agree that a "locked down" telescoping stock is just an expensive "fixed" stock and confirm that it's california legal. thanks for your help. i appreciate it.
  24. i just read your answer more carefully. when you say "won't allow the stock to collapse" does this mean that the skeletonized stock would be "fixed" at the "fully extended" length? i'm trying to accomplish the exact opposite. i want the skeletonized stock fixed at the shortest (most collapsed) position
  25. i'd like to pick your brains a bit more if you are willing but i'm so new that this forum won't allow me to send PMs or emails to other members. can you PM me or email me and we can talk more? thanks!
