  1. Makes me smile
  2. Do you mean "tornado brush"? I've been using a tornado brush on all my shotguns, and it does a GREAT job
  3. My M4 must have an issue. Even Ben Strainy would struggle to eject shells thank you for the detailed explanation of the process you use.
  4. the manual suggests using your index finger, and the associated instructional figure shows an index finger pressing the shell retaining lever. but i've tried thumb, middle finger, multiple fingers, etc., and it's almost impossible to unload shells from my M4. i can usually get a couple shells to unload, but by then i'm sweating, spitting, cussing, swearing, etc. and i finally give up and just unload the remaining shells by cycling them out. i know everybody struggles a bit with this issue, but mine seems 100 times worse. i installed a GG&G tactical bolt release pad (i don't think that would matter). as i recall i noticed the same difficulties unloading shells from the minute i first got the gun.
  5. I have a VERY hard time (cussing and swearing hard time) "unloading" shells from the magazine using the method described in the manual (press the cartridge retaining lever...aka "shell stop"...with index finger. You stated that your modification "option 2" made loading noticeably easier, but you didn't say if it also made "unloading" easier? Thanks
  6. I can ghost load my Benelli M4 no problem. Watch this video I found on youtube. Maybe it will help. http://youtu.be/lHKRsiJKJP4
  7. maybe I'm getting old, but I'm not familiar with the word "fudd". I checked the urban dictionary and I'm still laughing they give about 10 different definitions. I think I know, but which of these definitions is the one you prefer? http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=fudd
  8. consider Utah. There's a town here that's working on a law requiring every home to have a gun
  9. When I lived in Commifornia I pinned the stock. I removed the pin when I moved to Utah. I am very happy with the collapsible stock, but I have to say that my cheek felt like I got kicked by a mule after a long training day. I recommend a bit of padding (doesn't need mch to help) where you rest your cheek on the stock.
  10. The carriercomp charging handle works fine with the GG&G bolt release. I've had no issues at all. Btw, IMHO the gray colored Carriercomp charging handle looks great on the M4
  11. is it the slight movement itself that's causing issues? or is it the noise from the parts? i've never played around with liquid rubber, but i wonder if something like that would be worth trying?
  12. this is what i had in mind...more or less for my purposes. it's actually a Blackhawk cheek pad with a zippered side storage pouch for a rifle (about $30). it happens to fit over the benelli collapsible stock nicely, and the side pouch easily stores 7 shells. this cheek pad is very well made, and it should help reduce the "bite to the cheek" from the collapsible stock when shooting slugs all day. btw, i'm in commifornia so i had to pin the adjustable stock in place so it doesn't matter to me that this cheek pad covers the release button. i wanted to be able to carry extra shells on the butt stock, and i wanted a pad to reduce cheek pain. i'm anxious to try it out, but it looks like i found a good solution for the problem that i wanted to solve.
  13. thanks for this. yeah, that *might* work. hmmm. the collapsible stock is considerably more narrow than a traditional butt stock so i'm not sure if the fitted sleeve would work or not. but this is the type of idea i was looking for so thanks again. i think i saw a picture of a soft shell holder (canvas or nylon material) that looked like it used paracord to securely snug to the butt stock. but i can't seem to find it now that i'm looking for it
  14. i have a collapsible stock on my M4, and i'm curious if there are any products out there that will allow me to carry some extra shells on the stock? i could swear that i've seen pictures of some kind of extra shells contraption (might have been made of ballistic nylon or some such material) that you can tie or velcro to any stock?? anybody know of such a thing? any suggestions?? thank you.
  15. when i read your post i also thought you were itemizing 922 parts. it's a complicated and easily confusing topic so it's important to be as clear as possible when posting on this topic. not to argue, but go back and take a look at your post and you can see how it could be easily misunderstood glad it's cleared up now
  16. I also have carrier comp's charging handle, 7 round titanium tube, hammer and top rail. Im a Very happy customer.
  17. i went through a training session last month, and we did a lot of shooting drills (different loads, different positions, rapid fire, malfunction drills, etc.). i wasn't wearing gloves for the first few hours (shot about 300 rounds during that period) and the GG&G bolt release worked flawlessly. nothing negative about it whatsoever. best mod i've made to my M4. but it still bugs me that it costs so much!!! regardless, it's worth it. side note. the M4 barrel gets very hot so i'd definitely recommend that you wear gloves if you know you'll be doing a lot of shooting.
  18. i put a crap load (about 500) of rounds through my M4 over several hours the other day, and the barrel definitely gets hot. i was wearing gloves and if the barrel touched my hand (sometimes while reloading) it definitely got my attention. i never thought about pouring water on the barrel.
  19. i found a crappy pair of snap ring pliers at home depot. but still a semi-PITA. maybe better snap ring pliers would make the process easier. before and after
  20. Yes, thank you. I saw this also and it inspired me to try a variation that was easier for me. I bought a scotch brite scouring pad and a copper scouring pad. I cut a strip of the scouring pad and slipped it through the slot of a patch holder. Then I wrapped some of the material from the copper scouring pad around that and chucked the cleaning rod in a cordless drill. Five or 10 passes through the barrel and it was clean as a whistle. I think that I basically made a poor man's "tornado brush" so I'm going to buy a real tornado brush and try that next time.
  21. Put about 200 slugs through in an afternoon of training and then you'll see the problem. You'll see a lot of gunk (I initially thought it was plastic wad gunk, but it's actually lead). Not at all easy to remove...traditional bronze bore brush did almost nothing even when using a cordless drill. I tried a bore snake, but no luck. The senior guys here recognize the problem and say a tornado brush will solve the problem. I'm going to buy one and give it a whirl
  22. Great! Thank you for this information
  23. I'm going to definitely get one of those tornado brushes Kip's stuff is great. I have his 7 round tube, rail and hammer. Since the T1 is higher than the ghost ring sights, does this allow you to position your cheek a bit higher so it's not getting kicked so hard when shooting slugs? Thanks
