  1. The top built in rail will be for my EOTECH, hopefully that will fit better than the X300. The X300 and switch will either be mounted to the Brownells BLAM4 sling mount or the Briley tube mount rail. I have to see the ergonomic fit for everything once I have it all.

  2. No, under the X300 is a spring loaded tab that raises a lock bar that would drop down into the rail to hold it from sliding. The light slides on the rail but that "tab" won't raise far enough to clear the rail and allow the light to slide on all the way.

  3. The Benelli M4's top rail is a known out of spec item. They tend to tear up optic mounts. Carriercomp and FFT make a replacement rail that is true spec.

The Surefire x300 series can be adjusted by loosening the bottom hex screws and reinstalling the light onto the rail. Then remove the light and re-tighten the hex screws. On both my x300 ultra lights, I found that the light was extremely difficult to install on certain rails like the Noveske NSR. It was to the point that the rail was actually removing some of the plastic from the bottom of the light.

Also, I assume you're using the P rail insert, not the U rail.

Yup, I'm using the P rail insert. Not sure I understand your adjustment procedure. If I take the light back off and tighten the hex screws, I'll be back to where I started and not enough clearance.

  4. I just received my Surefire X300-U and I replaced the factory installed Universal Rail mount and installed the Picatinny Rail mount. The light comes with four mounting options, two for Universal Rail (lever-latch or rail-lock) and two for Picatinny Rail (lever-latch or rail-lock).

Now I don't plan on mounting the Surefire on the top rail but for grins I tried to slide it on. It seems the built in Picatinny rail is so tall (thick) it doesn't begin to clear the retractable lever-latch system when fully retracted. I double checked the surefire's picatinny mount and it's installed properly.

I don't plan on mounting the light here anyhow, that's reserved for the EOTECH EOLAD-1VG so it may not be an issue but I was wondering if there are any known issues with tolerance and the Benelli factory Picatinny rail.

  5. Hello, I'm new to the forum and it's been a long time since I shot shoguns. Last one was a 10guage side by side in the 80's.

I just got a new M4 for range and HD use. I've been trying to read as much as possible so I don't ask dumb questions. Unfortunately I'm probably more confused about the 922r law than I was before. If I just want to add sights and light to my M4, do I need to be concerned about 922r?

Also, the range here prefers you to have your gun in a case (which I want to have anyhow), I see the 42" soft case from Benelli is impossible to get (like most Benelli stuff it appears), can anyone recommend a nice soft case for the M4?

I do plan on getting a Pelican hard case down the road. Thanks and I'm glad to be a part of the community and a Benelli owner!
