    6/7 shot kit

Meanwhile in January 2022...I too have an M2 Tactical with the Comfortech stock. Magazine holds 5+1 in the chamber plus capable of a ghost round. Look it up on YouTube. That will give you 7 rds. without an extension kit, unless you really need more. Good shootin' to ya...
  2. I realize this is an old post, but mebbe, someone will read it...I have an M2 Tactical with a Nordic bolt handle and a Taran carrier/lifter. Love both. I presume your M2 is 12 ga. and an 18" barrel. Other than an FN SLP which some consider, basically the same thing, for home defense what else could you ask for? It can hold 5+1 plus a ghost round which totals to 7 rounds.

    Benelli M2

Meanwhile in January 2022...I have not used my M2 often, but after I cleaned and lubed it the first time (disassembly-reassemble) I had no problems, nor after shooting it, cleaning it, etc. Recently, I took it out and shot a box of birdshot with it. It worked flawlessly. So, to clean it again, I took off the fore end cap, took out the parts inside the magazine tube, pulled the bolt open and I got stuck. The fore grip refused to slide out. I followed the manual exactly. Gotten very frustrated. Any suggestions?
  4. Sorry, I goofed again. It is Taran and not Tartan. I think I might have said Tartan because of all the Scotch in me. <hic>
  5. CORRECTION: I got the description of the OEM and Tartan Carrier reversed. The OEM is flat with a cutout/notch on the tip. The Tartan Carrier has a slight bend in it on the tip and there is not a cutout/notch on the tip. So, it did not pinch my thumb. Sorry about that.
  6. It finally got warm enough and a bright sun shiny day to go out shooting. I took my Benelli M2 Tactical as I wanted to try out my new Tartan Carrier. The original carrier had a slight bend to it and when loading shells it pinched my thumb. The Tartan Carrier is flat and I had no problems. It was great to try out my shotgun again. I brought a box (25 shells) of bird shot. I loaded up 5 rds. at a time. The weather was still cold and I had a little difficulty in loading, but managed to do it. I fired across a stream to the embankment on the other side. The shotgun performed flawlessly and each time I loaded a shell, it was a lot easier with the new carrier than with the OEM carrier. So I recommend a flat Tartan Carrier. The one thing I forgot was, I have been carrying three large pumpkins in my truck bed and I forgot all about them. I so wanted to shoot them. Have you ever been on a pumpkin shoot? Oh, well. Good excuse to go out again. Now if the weather here in Sparks, NV would just cooperate! ...and yes, I picked up my spent shells and a few others that were there to keep the area clean. GOOD SHOOTIN' to you all.
  7. I thought about getting an ext. tube, but when I found out about 5 + 1 + 1, I didn't think it necessary as my M2 is to be used for HD.
  8. My Benelli can hold 5 +1 +1. Five in the tube, one in the chamber and one is the ghost round. Look it up on YouTube
  9. On my M2 Tactical, I put a Tru Lock Crio Tactical Breeching Choke, not that I am going to be busting down any doors or impaling any zombies, just thought it looked bad-ass!
  10. I purchased my Benelli M2 in 2013 and it had this: Mfg. Date Code CI = 2012 I would think knowing when your firearm was manufactured would be of interest to everyone. Manufacturers change specs all the time and some afictionados are passionate about what they are purchasing. For example, ask anyone who craves a Winchester Lever action whether they would prefer a pre-1964 or a post-1964.

    M2 vs SBE3

While I have an M2 and love it, it is more of a HD firearm and I think the others mentioned above would be a better fit for your intended use. Good luck on your decision and with Benelli, I don't think you could go wrong with whatever you choose. Ignore prices, save up and get quality! Good shootin' to ya and above all, have fun and STAY SAFE!
  12. I have read in other threads/forums that the M2 Tactical may have problems cycling lighter loads. I hope this is not a problem as I bought a case of 1145 fps. shells. Have not had the opportunity to go out with it in a long time.

    My M2

I look for articles on the M2 and there are not a lot of them. Usually they are about the M4. So I am wondering, is it because the M4 just sold many more shotguns than the M2? Not as many people own the M2? I have had my M2 since 2-2013. It is a great shotgun and I have had a lot of fun shooting it. Would like to hear from others if they own an M2 and what they think about it. Comparisons with other models, and similar shotguns by other manufacturers, both good and bad are welcome as well...
  14. Consider a shooting vest that has pockets in front of your shoulder that you can place a "rubber" pad into. Got both at Cabelas. Both Remington and Winchester make light loads 2 3/4" @ 1145 fps velocity. Those Zombie Max were painful. I have an M2 which I bought last year and have never had a FTE.

    New M2

FYI: I bought an M2 18" bbl last year and it was already drilled and tapped. I went to Scheels and bought a Picatinny rail and I just looked at my SG and there are four screws holding it down to the receiver. My SG came with Ghost Ring sights which have proven to be highly accurate.
  16. Nordic BFB on my M2. Made for people who wear gloves!
  17. I will NOT be taking my vacation in CO this year. Their loss...$$,$$$.$$
  18. Resurrected this old post. After reading many old post, I have found that Benelli (and other manufacturers) are offering less and charging more due to economics. In regards for a Picatinny rail, for the M2 Tactical that did not have any rail at all...Weaver rails are available for about $10. For those who want a Picatinny rail (I do, should arrive tomorrow), I got one at Brownells, made by Mesa Tactical for $45. The Weaver rail has only two slots across the rail. You all know what a Picatinny looks like... I am going to remove the Ghost Ring sights as it is difficult for these eyes to use them, despite how they are popular.
  19. Changing out the bolt handle is verily EZ. If you lay the M2 on it's left side, you simply pull straight up on the original handle. Make sure you have the oval slot where the bolt handle goes into. After my bolt handle was worked on by a gunsmith (apparently it was slightly oversized...In my reading on diff websites, nobody mentioned this problem)and installed. It worked great! Sorry, unable to attach the pics that I have as I am missing something on how to attach them.
  20. Recently purchased the M2 Tactical over the FN SLP primarily because of it's lower weight. First thing, I got a Nordic Components BFB (Big Fat Benelli) Bolt Handle. After installing, It would hang up when I pushed the bolt button. Took it to my dealer who said the new bolt needed to be fixed (filed/sanded?). Just got it back and it works smoother then with the original bolt handle.
