  1. Just got back for testing. Huge improvement in recoil management over the OEM buttpad. I shot around a 100 rounds of 2 3/4 high brass buckshot along with a couple hundred rounds of value pack birdshot. The Burnt Bronze M4 has the Limbsaver installed and the black M4 had OEM buttpad. The Limbsaver definitely takes the bite off of the heavy recoiling rounds. I didn't experience any reliability issues with the high brass rounds.

I didnt perceive any negative affects from drilling out the buttpad to allow the stock to fully collapse.

Overall, it was worth while upgrade. Just a real pita to install.

Thanx for doing this! I'll order some Noveske adapters tonight. That stock Benelli pad is pretty hard.

Looks like the hardest part is figuring out what to use to drill the Limbsaver

  2. FFT has made some and they seem like nice people, but....They do not accept the fact that their charging handle is manufactured improperly and does not properly fit (at least my) M4's. It falls out far too easily and rotates far too easily, it simply does not lock/latch properly with the roll pin. I'm using stock Benelli, I like it and that thing is impossible to accidentally fall out. One of the rare pieces that don't really need an upgrade

I wasn't planning on changing it either till I got it and it and it seemed a bit small and slippery.

  3. Your one of many who want one. I have asked them several times over the last few years and they say it is still on their list of things to produce. When they do i hope they make a bunch!

You would think the FFT people would jump on this deficit to corner this market.

  4. Congratulations. Nice Christmas present.

I hit some snags on the installation since none of the screws really fit the M4's collapsible stock. It's become a real PITA. I cut the Noveske mounting bracket already. That was relatively easy and should work fine. I need to get the thread size off of the existing screws and find some hardware that will actually work. Once that's done, I'll look into drilling out the Limbsaver to allow the receiver extension to pass thru the buttpad.

We're pullin' for ya! I ordered 2 Limbsavers yesterday for this Coon Hunt

  5. Good to hear no goo poured out of the Limbsaver. You going to trim the Noveske plate so the top and bottom mounting position has the Limbsaver compatible mounting hole? The heavy duty plastic base of the Limsaver should act as the support brace.

I should receive my Noveske plates today. I'll mount one up and see if it functions and causes any cycling failures tomorrow hopefully.

Howz it going with the C Stock and the Limbsaver? I just got my M4 LE today!

  6. That's how it always starts. Chasing what's the best. Then you find out the aftermarket options and double the cost of the already expensive platform. Then once you're done with it, you start considering a second. It's a sickness.

I also assumed at first I couldn't rely on an auto loader for defense of Life, and the more I read the more I thought I could use the Benelli in defense of Life. Now I'm thinking with Hardcast shotgun slugs I can use it as a Anti Bear gun in Alaska.

  7. Congratulations. You're going to like it.

I started out looking at Mossberg 930 SPX's. Read about them and said Ohhh Myyy, I don't want a Jam o matic. I also didn't want to spend the $$$ to get the Mossberg. Then I "discovered" the Beretta 1301. It was way more $$$ that I had started out as and it had a nasty habit of hitting a button at the wrong time and taking the gun out of action till the massive Jam was cleared. Then Versa Max, then while I'm reading all these reviews and reports are Benelli mentions about how everything was compared to the M4 and M2.

And that's how you start out not wanting to spend $500 or so and ending up where I am at here at today. Spend once, cry once. I was fearful of Auto loader reliability and that's how you end up here.

  8. Got my tracking slip from Noveske. Should get to do the assembly some time this weekend. I hope to find a day next week to take them out for trials.

My M4 shipped today so I should be a gun carrying club member in a few days and not just a wannabe!

  9. I did some more day/night testing on the Trijicon RMR R01, 3moa LED model. This is the constant on, no external buttons, no ability to turn it on or off other than pulling out the battery.

I'm liking it better than the Aimpoint T1 and the Trijicon RMR Adjustable LED model. The reason being is the auto adjusting LED. Moving from different lighting settings, the LED model adjusts automatically. So in the dark, you aren't overpowering the FOV. Then when you move into a lit area, the dot's power increases automatically. Rather than having to adjust it manually like the LED Adjustable model or the venerable Aimpoint T1.

Another plus is if you're storing the weapon in a safe, the dark safe will keep the power use pretty low.

The middle position is perfect height for the Scalarworks/RMR mount height.

The only reviews that complained about that version said, if you are shooting from cover onto a bright target that the Dot washed out. The video I saw was what a Sniper might do. The shooter was shooting from a heavily wooded area onto the side of a hill that was brightly lit with no cover. There is really no way for the electronic eye to cover that scenario. Absolute Sniper scenario.

Combat situations at night would be pretty good mostly except for the same scenario where you are in real Darkness and are shooting into a very brightly lit area.

I'd be curious if you run up against those settings what your thoughts are.

Especially since I ain't bought mine yet...

  10. I'll run it on both M4's just to be sure. I have a wide range of ammunition I can try also. From anemic value pack to full house buck and slugs.

I want to try the slow motion video on the M4's ejection port.

    What Camera?

  11. Received my Limbsavers. Still waiting on Noveske to give up the mounting plates though.

I have three collapsible stocks, so I'll mount one Limbsaver and take a second with the OEM pad. I'll then try to get it to cause failures and determine it's value by swapping back and forth between the same weapon. I should be able to determine if there is any reduction in perceived recoil.

Wow, this should answer some questions for sure!

  12. It doesn't look like it. In this picture, it appears that the QD socket is external and doesn't actually enter the stock body.

I see what you are talking about, I can live with that.

Main reason it isn't ambi is the way the plate slides into the stock. One side has to be a regular sling loop side for the unit to pass through the stock body.

I see what you are talking about, I can live with that.

  13. Yes, I'm certain of it. Even Noveske specifies it is possible assuming you can get it all apart.

The only debate would be which side to put the QD mount on. I'm a proponent of putting the rear attachment point on the ejection port side of the weapon (assuming you're right handed.) I find it controls the rear of the weapon better. The pistol grip is less prone to want to dig into your back when carrier slung. It reduces the amount of roll exhibited by the weapon.

Does the stock need to be relieved a bit for that round hole?

I agree on the right side mount. Too bad there isn't a ambi mount plate.

  14. Awesome pictures. I didn't understand what the spring spacers did. Makes sense now.

I pulled a second one apart tonight and took some pictures for a tutorial. Probably throw it in it's own thread for longevity.

So do you think you can replace 063J with the Noveske part?

  15. I'm hearing six month wait times are the norm right now with carriercomp. I put three on order on 10/22/2015. I know Marcy (Kip's wife and business partner) is going through some rather serious medical issues right now. So their delay has increased. I'll send you a PM about an option.

Most end up doing all the components for the trigger pack at the same time considering how cheap they are. But you could certainly get away with not adding it.

Thanx, that was very nice of you!

I had to go look at myself in the mirror and ask if I would have done that, I'm still waitin' for an answer...

I need to do some more research on the trigger pack parts, I thought there wasn't a difference in trigger feel quality between them and the stock parts.

  16. There is also an oversized safety from X-Rail, I see it listed on Brownells. It's a little too much for me in terms of markings and so on. It appears to have a similar shaped head as the DMV one.

The disconnector won't affect the trigger pull at all since it is out of the picture by the time you are pulling the trigger again.

Which brand of titanium magazine tube are you going to do? If you're going to go carriercomp, you might want to get your order in ASAP. They take forever to have made.

That Safety could be fixed, thanx! I am going to order the Carriercomp next week. Any ideas how far behind they are presently? I sent a messgae last week and never heard anything back from them.

  17. Items ordered from Noveske and Amazon. So we'll see what happens in a week or so.

I'm running to the store to lay in a cache of Popcorn!

I saw your post about the RMR gaskets.

I just bought some. Trijicon wanted $10 to ship them!

I got them on Amazon with no shipping, so I snagged 3 of them.

  18. That's not a bad deal at that price point, I was thinking of when they were selling for 2200 - 2400 typically. I'd still replace the magazine tube with a titanium unit.

The trigger upgrades will get you a better trigger pull between the FFT trigger and disconnector. The Geissele hammer is a good upgrade. It is much tougher than the OEM or FFT one in my experience. Both the OEM and FFT hammer's showed some deformation along the face of the hammer from impacting the bolt carrier repeatedly. The Geissele just shows brunishing.

I'm definitely doing everything on your list above pretty much. The trigger stuff will be deferred till the end basically. I'm adding the Ti mag to get back the weight ate up by the AVAdirect and the Elzetta light.

I won't do the handguards, I would rather change a trigger part if I had to. Nice thing about the LE it seems to me is I don't have to do it if I don't want to, or I can do it on my own schedule. I may ask someone how to get an answer from BATF about it.

Is the disconnector that important to the pull quality? I was just gonna ignore that part?

After looking at the TTI safety, the DMW does look a little better, it's a mystery why he doesn't just mill a groove and drop some red paint in it. I'm sure he's losing some sales because of that.

When you are teaching people how to shoot, the Red is danger concept is a nice easy one to explain.
