  1. What? I ran through a 3-gun stage that had maybe 40 rounds and I got a blister on my hand when I flipped it upside down to load twins. I now use a fingerless leather glove on my left hand when I run the shottie in competition.

If it ain't gettin' hot with 200, you are reloading really slow :)

  2. I would worry about muzzle blast damaging the light. I have a magazine tube that extends past the muzzle and it gets lead splatter on it from shooting slugs and carbon residue from all rounds. The blast right there has to be terrible. It would take a tough light to survive there.

  3. Welcome back. The M4 is a great platform. You will enjoy it.

Waiting for parts is not isolated to M4 parts. If you are a firearms enthusiast, you will have things on backorder constantly. I have had backorders from Brownell's take over a year before I finally got my parts. It's just the nature of the firearms industry today. Which is good because it means more enthusiasts are discovering how fun the shooting sports can be.

  4. That definitely sounds like something I should keep an eye on. Do you recall how many rounds you had through it when you noticed it rattling?

Many hundreds, if not thousands. It had been rattling for a while. I could tell because it had worn the finish off the top of the receiver at all the high points.

  5. I rattled the rear sight loose on mine, so I don't think there was any Loctite on those screws. My magazine tube definitely had Loctite on it though. Luckily the screws on the rear sight are a special design that won't come out all the way on their own. If they had, they would have jammed up the internals nicely.

I applied Loctite to the rear sight screws when I tightened them back up.

  6. The Briley trigger is a definite improvement. No doubt about it. Trigger pull was lightened by 18% (6.7 to 5.5 pounds), but that does not tell the whole story. The break is much more crisp. There is practically no creep (very short trigger travel to break compared to stock), and the reset is shorter. Since having the Briley trigger installed, I have dry fire practiced with the shotgun quite a bit, ran about 50 rounds through it practicing, and have used it in a competition (another 50 rounds approximately). I have noticed that it is easier to anticipate when the trigger will break, meaning I can control the precise moment when it will. This has noticeably improved my ability to move from target to target quickly.

Overall I am impressed with it and would do it again. The only cons I can think of are the price (but it is still comparable to the FFT option), and a still relatively heavy 5.5 pound trigger pull. Ideally, I would have liked to see the trigger pull under 4 pounds, but that is just my preference.

    Hope that helps.
