Here is the magazine tube #122 removed from the receiver. You need to recover the Forearm Retaining Band #69 (gigity). The Forearm Retaining Band #69 is a slip fit part that will simply pull off of the Magazine Tube #122.

I’m open to choke, ammo and any other suggestions. How is surplus shotgun ammo? Those of you that increase capacity, do you go with 7 round mag tubes etc? Or, do you prefer tube extensions? The questions could go on and on.
I picked my M1014 up on June 19th (pistol owner but was my first shotgun), this forum has been most helpful to Scout’s point.

As maybe the newest member to the M4 Club myself, welcome (and I hope you’ve set a budget for modifications that you’ll stick to).

Installed the Limbsaver 10403 on my M1014 today using zinc-plated M4 x 16mm hardware from HD. Fit and finish of the recoil pad was excellent- slightly larger than mating surface of c-stock but I was able to get the overhang uniform all the way around.
This M1014 came with the factory fixed c-stock so modifying the recoil pad to accommodate the stock tube when collapsed is unnecessary at this point. I’ll do that when I get around to modifying the stock to make collapsible.
Job was a breeze thanks to the information found here.

I comes with a choke that has thread on the end and you thread it to that. It’s specific for the M4. You’ll see when you look it up.
I would recommend a lower profile one. Mine had a thick base which makes it stick out a lot. Will eventually swap it out. There’s a ton out there. Look up “match saver”.

Does this require an adapter or anything? I’ve seen Limbsaver recommended previously and done research (all great recommendations) and only found comments on fit issues & that it doesn’t come with hardware, but it also seems like some of LS’s buttpads require adapters.

Yeah, I’ve read about/watched videos on ghost loading but came across folks warning against doing it due to potential for damaging the lifter/carrier/shell stop? Can’t speak 1st person but they seemed credible so I’ve not done it. Kind of a bummer because, due to the trigger, hammer & safety configuration I’m not comfortable storing it loaded so I’d love to sneak another shell in there if I’ve misdiagnosed the risk of “ghost loading”.
Thoughts others on this?

I believe Benelli’s product description says something like, “fixed modified choke” but my M1014 is just 18.5” of chrome-coated barrel. No threads on the business end, zero evidence of any modifications by Benelli, etc. Mine looks just like the barrel in the link Scout shared above
My first shotgun, certainly my first Benelli, so I might be missing something.

Nice.
I had BFG sew a QD into the front of the custom sling I ordered from them knowing it would be connecting to the IWC light mount and I left the back free. Just placed an order at IWC for the mount and at BFG for another 1.25” QD. The one I got on my sling seems solid, guess no reason to deviate from that. If this set up meets my need I just might ship the sling back to BFG to have the rear sewn in also.
Appreciate the suggested caution around connection of the QD. I’ll be sure to give them a tug test before putting weight on. Sounds like a lesson learned through experience...

What is your favorite male QD maker? IWC & BFG both offer them, in addition to the tens or hundreds of probably off-brand/foreign-made available on AMZN, eBay, etc.

Below the red mark is where it is currently attached, but both front & rear are attached on the left side of the weapon.
Are you saying keep the front mounted to the left side but run the rear to the right side?

The M4 is my first shotgun so I’m unsure if the way Benelli designed the sling mounts- specifically the orientation of them- is usual for SGs, but I don’t love how it results in the weapon laying on its side when slung.
I have a padded BFG sling mounted via QD to an IWC mount up front and the rear of the sling runs through the provided slot in the stock. When hung from my shoulder however, the weapon rotates clockwise and the pistol grip contacts my waist/hip area. I’m not so worried about comfort as when walking with this setup I have to use my right hand to stabilize/orient the M4 to keep it vertical, otherwise the grip contacting my hip sends it bouncing all over the place.
Is it logical to consider mounting the rear sling at the top of the stock rather than from the side?
Am I overthinking this or missing an obvious benefit of the current design?

New to this forum (found you after a recent first Benelli purchase, an M1014), and I’m extremely curious to learn this weapon system.
On this episode of “What does this feature of my Benelli M1014 do?”, the Cartridge Drop Lever is a mystery to me.
Disclaimer: I’ve read the 138 page M4 manual cover-to-cover- 5+ times- and it seems to disagree with my experience shooting the M4, specifically regarding the Cartridge Drop Lever.
I took it to the range today and fired 102 shells through it, 20 slug and 82 00B. Yes, my shoulder is bruised and it feels like Andre The Giant shoulder-checked me.
What I can’t figure out is, what the Cartridge Drop Lever is supposed to do.
Per various reading, it’s supposed to allow the user to switch rounds mid-mag, e.g., if you have 7 x 00Buck rounds in the mag tube and after the 3rd 00Buck round you need a slug, you use the Cartridge Drop Lever to do X to allow the operator to introduce a new shell mid-stream.
Today at the range I hit this Lever in 20 various situations throughout firing through the loaded mag tube and every single time the weapon reacted the same regardless. If I hit it before firing the chambered shell, the next shell in the mag tube is moved to under the carrier and the carrier locked. I couldn’t force another round into the tube because the carrier was locked and if I cycled the action before firing, the current shell would eject but the next shell currently on deck would chamber.
This an identical order of operations to not hitting the CDL: don’t touch the CDL and the next shell in the mag tube would be chambered upon firing and auto-cycling the current chambered shell.
There was seemingly nothing I could do to make use of this Benelli M4 feature.
I’m at a loss as to what I could be doing different, what differently the Cartridge Drop Lever is meant to do, or a combination of these.
Finally, I read this BUSAF thead multiple times prior to the range visit, kept it in mind during said visit and re-read following the visit and think either A) My weapon is operating differently than designed, B) Has been redesigned to deactivate the CDL, or C) Today is the day I discovered that I’m too old/stubborn/dim to understand what should be some really phenomenal capabilities.
Any input is appreciated

Bringing this one back from the dead...
Followed SD’s instruction above, installation of my newly acquired Carrier Comp 7-round tube (much appreciated @DailyEDC) went flawlessly. Damn does this thing look exceptional on my M4.
I ordered a gnarly powerful heat gun & had everything lined up for a fight -work gloves, infrared thermometer, pals on hand, etc.- and heated around the factory 5-round tube for literally less than a minute, gave it a twist and it threaded right off. How anti-climatic is that?
For context, I had no work gloves on yet and the last 2/3rds of the factory mag tube was still ambient temp. I’ve got forearms like footballs (dude earlier = LOL) but this was overly easy. As a note, I was hyper concerned about over torquing the receiver while twisting the stock tube so took it very easy on twisting.
There was clearly a red thread locker on the threads but was purely liquid when heated/removed. Easily wiped away and though I had also ordered thread locker red #242, I test fitted the CC tube and it locked in tight so I didn’t end up using the threadlocker.
Anyway, recognition to StrangerDanger for the start on this project and to DailyEDC for the good buy of a Carrier Comp mag tube and words of wisdom installing it.
