erskatedoc Posted April 23, 2010 Posted April 23, 2010 (edited) After shooting last week, I came home and took apart the M4. The barrel was a bear to remove. No obvious dents or trauma. Even after cleaning and lube, its really tough to reinstall. Any suggestions. I'm tempted to use a little emory cloth. Thanks Edited April 23, 2010 by erskatedoc Quote
Grizzman Posted April 24, 2010 Posted April 24, 2010 Is it brand new? Did it previously disassemble/assemble easily? I'd say it would take a serious impact to cause trauma worthy of binding the barrel in the action. Grizz Quote

tactical1 Posted April 24, 2010 Posted April 24, 2010 Perhaps an unfavorable stacking of tolerances? Don't think I'd try the emery route as it will remove the surface protection from the barrel. Without any obvious issues with the barrel or receiver, you might want to see what Benelli's CS has to say Quote

erskatedoc Posted July 6, 2010 Author Posted July 6, 2010 I had changed from a mesa tactical 4 shell carrier to a 6 shell carrier. The screws were a tad longer in the new Mesa kit and were rubbing against the breech extension (barely touched it) but it was enough to make it a pain in the butt to install and remove the barrel. I took the screws that hold the mesa shell carrier out and took off a tad on the threaded end (with the bench grinder) until I could no longer feel the tip inside the receiver assembly when the shell holder was installed. Works like new, and the barrel is easy to remove. Mike Quote
Hookster Posted July 6, 2010 Posted July 6, 2010 Congrats on the successful diagnosis and treatment doc Quote
tactical1 Posted July 6, 2010 Posted July 6, 2010 Mike - good news and thanks for the update. . . .and the barrel is still original! Quote
