Mine arrived in the mail today. What info (besides pics) are you looking for? I could be wrong, but it's my understanding that the optional coating was not intended to "match" the factory color of the receiver, but to simply be subdued compared to the shiny Titanium of the non-coated part. As you can see in my photos, carriercomp's knob is not as dark as the factory part (which matches the factory color of the receiver and bolt carrier). Does this matter to me.......nope, not at all. The checkering of the carriercomp part gives more reliable purchase than the simple grooves of the standard part. The cylindrical shape of the carriercomp part also makes it feel more natural and, dare I say, comfortable to use. All in all, I'm very satisfied with the design and execution of the carriercomp knob. Grizz

Before I buy a hammer, I've got a few questions. When the full fire control group has been completed and is available, will the trigger and disconnector be available without a hammer, since I'd already have one? Will the replacement hammer address the heavy 7+ pound trigger pull my M4 currently has (with some creep and over travel)? Is it simply a direct, though very high quality, replacement for the stock part for 922r compliance purposes with no tangible improvements realized? Grizz

I'm also a firm believer in the K.I.S.S. principle, especially for a home defense shotgun. I use the factory sights and have absolutely no regrets that I didn't "upgrade" to an optic. Grizz

That is great news. It'll be nice to get my M4 to the point where it no longer has the worst trigger pull of all my rifles and shottys. Since I'm running a Mesa stock the compliance isn't necessary, but I may end up with a C-Stock some day. Grizz

I would welcome an additional 1/4" in length, especially for offhand manipulation or for those of us with extended bolt releases. Grizz

I don't recall in which thread the statement was made, but it did happen. I believe the approval is for the upcoming hammer and disconnector. Carriercomp wants to send them all out to be coated at once to reduce the cost. He did say that if the wait time for the letter ends up being too long, he'd ship the knobs out separately. Grizz

The difference in feel is most noticeable at the upper part of the grip, in the web area between thumb and forefinger. The Urbino's grip doesn't feel uncomfortable, just not comfy as the Benelli's. Grizz

The LOP of the Mesa with the Limbsaver recoil pad is 12 1/2 inches. I just installed the Benelli grip cover onto the Mesa stock. It took more effort to install than the Benelli unit, but it did go on. The Benelli grip sleeve is about 1/8 inch longer than the Mesa unit at the beavertail area, but it lays flat and works fine. Here's a photo of the gap between the trigger guard and the Mesa stock. In my opinion, this gap is a non-issue. The pistol grip covers doesn't affect the gap. Grizz

The adhesive that Mesa uses is weak, and I easily removed the rubber sleeve. The inner cores of the Mesa is pretty much identical to Benelli's (the ridges are slightly different). I did notice that the Mesa grip is more blocky than the Benelli, but it feels fine. I had planned to swap them if the Mesa proved to be definitely inferior, but it's still installed. Yes, it is possible to swap them.....I had it on 95% of the way before removing it. Grizz

That's cool that you found one in a store. Did you pick up the P238? I like mine quite a bit. I also somewhat prefer the Benelli rubber grip cover, and was able to slide it onto the Mesa grip stud. I didn't put it all the way on, just far enough to prove that it's an option. Grizz

I'm also looking for a clean QD mount, so it'll be either this or a pocket push button sling mount (probable). Edited to add: I read on Mesa's forum that this design will be modified to eliminate loop to jaw contact, which would naturally be very bad. Is the Urbino an equal to the factory Benelli pistol grip stock from a quality perspective? Not quite, but for $109, I'm not complaining. Does the Urbino stock have a far superior length of pull? Yes. Does the Urbino offer numerous options for QD sling attachment? Yes Does the Urbino require a flat screwdriver to remove? Yes, but big ******* deal. So does the A1 and A2 stock of the AR platform, and I've never heard anyone complain about it. Is the Urbino an option to allow those desiring to achieve 922R compliance without adding an uncomfortable (and expensive) forearm quad rail system? Yes. You don't like it, don't buy it. Grizz

The day after I received it, I removed and re-installed the stock to show a friend how it was attached. It came off and went on without any difficulty. As a test, I also installed the stock with the trigger group removed, then installed the trigger group with only a slight amount of extra pressure required. Grizz

Since I don't use optics on my M4, I didn't get the cheek riser. I just removed the rubber hand grip wrap and the rubber grip and stub on the stock is designed very much like that of the Benelli unit. Grizz

My Urbino stock with Limbsaver pad also arrived today. I too was amazed at the difference the 2" reduction makes in the handling of the M4. The recoil pad is quite a bit softer than I was expecting. I'm pretty recoil proof, so I sure didn't need the Limbsaver pad, but I thought I'd give it a try. I hope it holds up well, but if it doesn't, then replacing it with the standard one is really easy. My installation worked out just fine. I pulled off the standard pistol grip stock, put on the Urbino stock, and had no issues. After the Urbino was installed, I removed the trigger group and reinstalled it with no problems. It took a little extra rearward pressure to get the trigger group into position, but it was not a big deal at all. I then removed it again, and reinstalled it. I can't explain why my experience was so different from babob's. Overall, I'm completely satisfied with it. Grizz

I personally don't consider stock parts removed from rifles or shotguns "junk". I have a drawer into which these parts go....just in case the aftermarket part fails or is damaged and unusable. Do I plan to ever use it.....hopefully won't need to, but I'm not going to immediately throw it in the trash. In this case, the box or tube that it's in is simply hiding behind other things that are in my storage area......not sitting out in a shed rusting like junk. Thanks for the generous offer of $20 shipped, but the $$ received will need to at least cover the time it'll take to locate it.....and that won't come close. Good luck in your search. Grizz

The only blemishes mine has came from a Mesa barrel/mag tube clamp, and as I recall, they're very minor. The issue for me is finding the crazy thing. I've looked in both misc parts drawers.....no luck. Maybe it's hiding among my empty box collection. Found the M4 box, an AR upper box, scope boxes. I'll go back down with a flashlight for attempt #2. What'll you offer me for it? Grizz

I most likely used the same heat gun as you did. I used the low setting, and it took a lot longer (10 minutes +) to heat up than I was expecting, but it eventually loosened up. I didn't get to the point where the locktite was smoking, but it did get hot enough for me to pretty easily remove it. Good luck, and be patient. Grizz
