Anyone running a non-railed Mesa Tactical shell holder on a M1 or M2?

I have only found one review on the non railed 6 shell holder from Mesa Tactical. I am looking for a little more first hand experience before buying.

Mainly, the only review I read commented on a poor fit to the receiver. I have an older HK marked version of the M1. Can anyone comment?

Any pics would be wildly appreciated.

Thanks in advance-

If you read it on Brownell's website it was my review. I may have posted the same info somewhere else but I don't remember. Anyway:

Here are some pics of the Mesa. As you can see, the contour of the plate doesn't match the contour of the shotgun receiver. The plate hits along the top and bottom portions and doesn't allow it to come flush with the side of the receiver. The Mesa comes with a rubber backing that goes between the plate and the flat side of the receiver but the plate isn't able to get close enough to the receiver for that to touch.

By comparison, here's the old standard, the Side Saddle. Much better fit. Backing plate is flush against the side of the receiver

Hope this helps. I made the offer somewhere else - I'll sell you a 6 round and a 4 round Mesa cheap!

Here are a few pics of mine, sorry for the quality! It appears to fit pretty closely in the rear, but not as much in the front. It is rock solid and I haven't had any usage issues with it at all. I also included a pic of the clearance that I had to dremel out.

Interesting, still doesn't seem like a great fit, but you have had no issues?

Also what does the other side of the reciever look like? I am assuming they use a bolt in the trigger group pin hole?

Thanks in advance-

No problem, always glad to help out.

I haven't had any issues with the gun cycling anything at all. Low brass cheap stuff from walmart, remington bird shot, buck shot, slugs... it just eats whatever you put in it whether I have had the side saddle on it or not. I also have the surefire forend on it which im sure adds a little bit of weight.

I bought my 14" entry model as a police trade in that had been fired, but is in great condition, so I am fairly confident that it is well worn in and I think that it being loosened up helps it to cycle so well. Not totally sure on that, just a theory!
