Rezarf
I have only found one review on the non railed 6 shell holder from Mesa Tactical. I am looking for a little more first hand experience before buying. Mainly, the only review I read commented on a poor fit to the receiver. I have an older HK marked version of the M1. Can anyone comment? Any pics would be wildly appreciated. Thanks in advance- Drew
truckcop
It was probably my review on the fit for my M1, which is also an older HK import. I'll try to put some pics together this weekend to try and better demonstrate the problem I had.
Rezarf
Thanks so much man... ...who knew I'd get to ask the one reviewer some more detailed questions! Gotta' love the www
truckcop
If you read it on Brownell's website it was my review. I may have posted the same info somewhere else but I don't remember. Anyway: Here are some pics of the Mesa. As you can see, the contour of the plate doesn't match the contour of the shotgun receiver. The plate hits along the top and bottom portions and doesn't allow it to come flush with the side of the receiver. The Mesa comes with a rubber backing that goes between the plate and the flat side of the receiver but the plate isn't able to get close enough to the receiver for that to touch. truckcop
By comparison, here's the old standard, the Side Saddle. Much better fit. Backing plate is flush against the side of the receiver Hope this helps. I made the offer somewhere else - I'll sell you a 6 round and a 4 round Mesa cheap! === Edited June 13, 2010 by truckcop
truckcop
This has prompted me to contact Mesa with the pics and find out if they have corrected the problem, or at least comment on it. Will keep you advised.
Rezarf
truckcop- Thanks so much for taking the time. I will hold off until I hear if Mesa clears things up. I really appreciate you taking the time.
Ilintner
I have one of these on my HK m1 entry and I don't think that I have the same problem, I did however have to dremel clearance for the rear sight, Ill take a look and post up pictures tonight. Ilintner
Here are a few pics of mine, sorry for the quality! It appears to fit pretty closely in the rear, but not as much in the front. It is rock solid and I haven't had any usage issues with it at all. I also included a pic of the clearance that I had to dremel out.

Rezarf
Interesting, still doesn't seem like a great fit, but you have had no issues? Also what does the other side of the reciever look like? I am assuming they use a bolt in the trigger group pin hole? Thanks in advance- Drew
Ilintner
Ill take out my camera when I get home and get some better pics for you rather than these cell phone shots. Overall I am happy with it, and I am pretty picky when it comes to things like that.

ApexinM3
Anybody ever try one of these on an M3S90? I hate the set up I have now (Blackhawk stock cheakpad/shell carrier).
Rezarf
Ilinter, thanks for taking all the time to snap the pics. I appreciate it bud. Have you experienced any issues with the cycling with the added weight? I think I am going to add one to my HK/Benelli!
Ilintner
No problem, always glad to help out. I haven't had any issues with the gun cycling anything at all. Low brass cheap stuff from walmart, remington bird shot, buck shot, slugs... it just eats whatever you put in it whether I have had the side saddle on it or not. I also have the surefire forend on it which im sure adds a little bit of weight. I bought my 14" entry model as a police trade in that had been fired, but is in great condition, so I am fairly confident that it is well worn in and I think that it being loosened up helps it to cycle so well. Not totally sure on that, just a theory!
