FISH-ON
Hey guys, just ramping up for turkey opener up in Ontario...was thinking of buying a box call, are there any out there that are better then others...was leaning towards Primos Wet Box $24.99, is it any good? any others out there better??? thoughts
hognutz
I have a Primos Cutter. It is a single sided box. It plays great. I only use a box call to locate or when it is windy, but I would definitely buy another if this one got lost..It is a fairly inexpensive call, but it really screams..Good luck, Mike
fikester
Only box call I have used is a Quaker Boy yelper......I really like the glass and slate call (Hookbuster 3) by Bully's game calls.
ntlchamp
I have one of the Wet Boxes and it's not a bad sounding call to have in your arsenal. May also come in handy during this really wet Spring we are having.
mudhen
I use box calls from Albert Paul & SS Calls. Used properly, I think box calls are maybe the most effective turkey calls. I often use them all the way to the shot…
drenalinld
I also prefer a custom box call from Paul's calls. There are a few factory calls that sound pretty good. The key is I would want to try several and pick the one that sounds the best and that is not possible at Wal Mart. It is likely you can get one that is junk in a plastic package. I think you can locate to some degree with almost any box call, but for soft clucks and purrs and actually working a bird, there is a huge difference with a custom call. Lord Qwack
I agree with Mudhen. They can be very effective. Somethings to consider though. When "ole fat boy" is in sight and you want to minimize movement I go to the mouth call. Also try wrapping your box call in a small piece of cloth to where it is between the box and the handle that way it doesn't make any noise when walking. Good luck
