Need Help Purchasing first M4

Sorry for the total newbie post, but i am new to the forum and the m4. I have been searching around and found quite a bit of info(some confusing), but i would just like to ask a few questions before i make my first purchase.

 

This purchase is NOT for the "Cool" factor or the collectability of owning an M4, i want the best working self defense shotgun i can purchase. Since i already own a benelli SBE II, i am pretty confident this is it.

 

So here goes.

1- Since i am not collecting or worried about getting myself a M1014. The 11707 is a better purchase for buying a "work" gun? The m1014 offers no benefit besides being a possible collector shotgun and having a collapsable stock.

 

2- If i want to get the magazine extension is it really better to get the factory benelli ? or are the aftermarket companies just as good? If so what companies.

 

3- Do i need the full length tube or just get the extension tube?

 

4- What companies do you guys reccomend buying aftermarket accesorries( charging handle or bolt release) and are these really worth the extra bucks to add on?

 

5- Best way for flashlight attachment? I would like to keep the forearm factory if possible.

11707 is best.

Full-length tube.

www.carriercomp.com has the tube, bolt-release, hammer (spring/follower come with tube).

http://www.tac2.com has a nice bolt-release, and then you buy a 1911 safety with a 4-40 threaded component, or if you want larger, ggg has the unit.

 

5- Best way for flashlight attachment? I would like to keep the forearm factory if possible.

Then get a simple mag-tube clamp setup. Many exist.

Become a "member", then call them and verify stock and order. I bought a 590a1 SPX from them last week and the deal went smoothly. Their current price for the M4S90 is the cheapest new I have seen.

Get a domestic full length tube here http://www.shop.carriercomp.com/product.sc?productId=3&categoryId=4 if 922r parts count matters. If not, save some dough & get a steel extender from FFT http://freedomfightertactical.com/products-page/magazine-tubes/the-freedom-fighter-tactical-steel-magazine-extension-tube-for-benelli-m4-shotgun/ or Benelli via Gunbroker, domestic or import, makes no difference.

For an SBS that is readily convertible to the standard barrel you need the extender.

Bolt release, the favored one seems to be GG&G. Not essential, but not a hinderance either.

One of my troops had the BN armorer mill a slot like an MOE handguard has, and used one of these to round it out
