Retired Posted January 6, 2015 Posted January 6, 2015 I did a forum search and couldn't find any threads that answer my question. I received a set of meprolight night sights as a Christmas present. Looking at the package, it says they are for M4's built before 2002. Is there a big difference between pre-2001 sights and post 2001 sights? i.e. can I (or a good gunsmith) make these work, or do they go into the parts bin? Quote
Retired Posted January 6, 2015 Author Posted January 6, 2015 Have the part number? Looks like it is ML-34301 Quote
M2_shootr Posted January 6, 2015 Posted January 6, 2015 What does the real sight look like,.......that part number is for the old "dovetail" mount rear sights. Quote
Vertigofirearms Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 The front sight on early M1014 retained the older design from the M1 and M3 Ghost ring; which is that it only contact the barrel on two thin legs. The newer style is a full profile contact which must use a shorter threaded sight. I have never seen a M4 that used the older dovetail usually on the HK imported Benellis. Quote

Retired Posted January 7, 2015 Author Posted January 7, 2015 http://forums.benelliusa.com/showthread.php/31424-Meprolight-Tritium-Sight-Review?highlight=meprolight I looked at that thread. I think this set has the dovetail mount, but can't pull the shotgun apart until Sunday. Will probably find who they were bought from and return for the correct set. Quote
