lorenzobryant Posted January 2, 2025 Posted January 2, 2025 Hello, I'm not sure if this is the right sub but I figure some users here will possess the knowledge I seek. So I just impulsively ordered a benelli m4. It's been a dream gun of mine for some time. Upon ordering I've started looking into the accessories I'm going to be adding. There's alot of +2 tube extensions and I'm not sure which would be appropriate. I see the vickers bfg sling recommended alot, would the typical rifle sling work or are any of their other offers a better option? Wanting to get a light. I've used streamlight with ARs and AKs without issue but with 12 gauge recoil I'm not entirely sure how much recoil punishment the hlx will take.. should I just cough up the extra 150ish for a surefire? My final question is on the collapsible stock, the one I ordered comes with a fixed stock and I'm really wanting that classic collapsible stock. Does anyone have experience with both? Is that $500+ price tag really worth it? I was honestly kind of shocked when I looked it up right after the purchase. 1 Quote
Sukhoi_fan Posted January 2, 2025 Posted January 2, 2025 Be advised that only a Benelli +2 extension can be counted on to get you two extra rounds, the American made +2 extensions are actually only +1 in some cases, plus using a mag extension doesn't count as a 'made in USA' part with respect to 922r if that matters to you. Regarding the C-stock - the reasons for having a C-stock are: the coolness factor, to have that USMC look, when wearing body armor for shorter LOP, and compactness especially on short barreled shotguns. When I buy a second hand M4 with the C-stock I remove it and sell it then use the money to go toward a quality red dot sight. I've had a C-stock or two over the years and I've found it's not a 'must have' item for me, I'd rather cash it out. I have no opinion for offer on your other two inquiries. 1 Quote

So, for the first question, IMO I would recommend you get an American Made full tube replacement. You will have much better experience than with the "plus 2". I 100% recommend CarrierComp for the 7 round tube. For the sling, it will be personal prefrence. I run a Vickers Blue Force and love it. Others use different slings to their liking. Slings are somewhat subjective to the end user. I love Streamlight lights and have a few, but like you, I was worried about recoil. I have seen many people run a Streamlight on their Benellis and have had no reported issues that I am aware of. Personally, I use a Surefire M640-Pro Duel Fuel Scout light. I love this light and have had zero issues with it. Again that will be up to you. I would recommend you try to stay away from chinese lights, like the O-Light or Nitecore lights. Nothing wrong with those lights and I own a few of them and love them but would not trust them on a shotgun. Some guys do and report they have had no issue with it but I suppose it would depend on your usage. I think a Streamlight will be just fine but come on, this is a Benelli M4, get the Surefire lol. I am not a big fan of Benellis C-Stocks. I personally do not like how they feel or look. I have a field stock on mine and got rid of the pistol grip but with that being said I am very tempted right now to pre-order the Chisel Machine stock they are about to release. It looks really good and I like the grip and mechanics of it. Now because I do not like the Benelli C-stocks does not mean I do not like c-stocks at all I just dont like Benellis lol. This will be up to you moving forward. Some guys love them some guys hate them. Maybe try to get your hands on one in your LGS and see how you like it. I hope this helps you moving forward. If you have any other questions, please do not hesitate to ask. Please keep us updated on what you go with. Quote

For slings I personally like milsurp M-240 slings and have several I bought years ago when they were just $10 - $15 each. They're meant to carry a much heavier weapon and are nicely padded and fat. They are harder to find now but I'm sure there are still some lurking in surplus stores. Hope you like black because that's what they come in. BFG has sling attachments down to a science. A gun sling is a must IMO. 1 Quote
bambihunter Posted January 6, 2025 Posted January 6, 2025 One thing I'd recommend when getting your M4, or really any new gun for that matter, is to use it as it is for a bit. This accomplishes a couple of things. First, it will give the gun a good break in and test "as made". That way, if you add accessories and it quits functioning reliably, you know it was an add-on that caused it. Second, after using it, you may change your mind on altering it or decide you want different things than you initially did. If you can borrow a gun in your desired configuration before you buy the items that is the ideal way. I've had a SureFire light on a M3 folder for many years (maybe 15+) and it is still working great. I would imagine the newer brighter models would hold up as well, but I don't have as much experience with those. I've got one of the rare NP3 11711 model M4's that was factory in the configuration you mentioned. It is a safe queen. I built a black version to be the shooting M4 with C-stock, 7 round mag, etc. If you are wanting to make a "cool" talking piece or range toy, then the collapsible stock is great for that. For shooting sports or hunting, many don't like it. The collapsible stock is nice for storage however. For me, it just doesn't fit right. I think I am going to change out the 3 position for a 6 position piece from RXArms (a fellow forum member): https://rxarms.com/product-category/benelli-m4-parts-and-accessories/ to see if that helps fitment any. They also sell one piece magazine tube or +2, though I absolutely agree the one-piece tube is the way to go. 1 Quote

bambihunter Posted January 17, 2025 Posted January 17, 2025 There's a gazillion of them on here. It looks just like the 11711 only all black. It's just a standard black M4 but swapped out recoil tube and put on collapsible stock, full length magazine, light mount, sling mount, etc. It's nothing special. They look just like this one that's available to buy already in that setup: https://www.gunbroker.com/item/1084134056 Quote
