Jeffrey Strother Posted February 24, 2006 Posted February 24, 2006 What is a good choke for the Super Black Eagle 2? Last year I used a comp-n-choke XXX-Full in my Remington 870 and I loved it! Is the comp-n-choke a good choke for the SBEII? I also like the Winchester Supreme Xtended Range #6s. Quote
hooftrimmer 1 Posted February 24, 2006 Posted February 24, 2006 I use a trulock .665 with winchester #5s 3.5" This patterns well. Kicks is also making a choke for the sbeII I have one for my sbe I and it patterns awsome 35-40 hits in the kill zone at 40 yards. the kicks choke I have is .660. hope this will help. Quote
mudhen Posted February 24, 2006 Posted February 24, 2006 The difference between a Kicks .660 for the SBE I & Kicks .660 for the SBE II is like night & day for me. Kicks .660 for the SBE I is simply deadly. Kicks .660 for the SBE II sucked in my gun. I tested 7-8 different choke & load combos in my SBE II, and the only acceptable pattern was from a Rhino .660 using Win XR's #6's. mudhen - CA Quote
Jeffrey Strother Posted February 24, 2006 Author Posted February 24, 2006 Thanks! What kind of pattern was you getting will this combo? After I posted this last night I found were you was praising that combo! I already love the XR #6s so that is good to hear. Quote
mudhen Posted February 25, 2006 Posted February 25, 2006 I'll try to post some photos after this weekend. All the chokes I tested were fine up to 30-35. Only the Rhino held up out to 40. mudhen - CA Quote
hooftrimmer 1 Posted February 25, 2006 Posted February 25, 2006 I was told that is was not good for a kicks choke to shoot XR shells or hevi shot or HD shells. That they are meant for lead or copper plated shot only. is this true Quote
tucker301 Posted February 25, 2006 Posted February 25, 2006 The website states lead shot only. [ 02-25-2006, 08:31 AM: Message edited by: tucker301 ] Quote

But, I read somewhere that XR is ok for some older guns. If I can find the link, I'll post it. mudhen - CA Quote
69beers Posted February 28, 2006 Posted February 28, 2006 I called Kick's and asked. They said it's okay to shoot XR through their chokes but not hevi-shot or steel. They suggest #6 through a .660. Quote
Turkeykilr Posted March 25, 2006 Posted March 25, 2006 I need some help! I have a new SBEII, and Turkey season is here! What is the best choke for my gun? I i have been shooting Winchester High Velocity 3 1/2" #6 Quote
