Shootingsight S7 Rolled Plate Tool Steel is ALOT tougher than any hammer out there. I forget what FFT hammer is made of but I remember making note of the fact that it was less superior material and does tend to deform because it’s softer that S7, and S7 is extremely tough, durable and has a really high impact resistance. Only drawback is that you need to oil it for protection, unlike stainless. Although, the shootingsight hammer is NiB coated. Of course I could be wrong, and this my opinion, but from experience, this hammer is an absolute beast.

Got mine a few days ago, back in stock on PSA. Got one set standard grain and the other set had standard grain fore end/ grip but got lucky and has some nice cross grain/burl patterns in the butt stock. My fore end fits perfectly over the gas system by the way.

Probably sales, new options emerged and maybe they make more money doing their other thing. I never understood the hype, shootingsight makes a better hammer. But hey, it’s just a small piece of metal after all, not a rocket gimbal.

Why did we switch to polymer for the trigger guard? Cost, weight etc?
