Only about three months left in our season

Duck and goose calls, what are you using?
mudhen replied to Liberty or death Jr.'s topic in Waterfowling
About 20 different calls from Winglock + a few old style calls from Cecil & Glenn Welborn. -
Rice was nice again today. Only 95 days left in our season

My brand new Browning Silver broke on it's 3rd or 4th hunt. Had to wait two months for a replacement bolt handle. Luckily I paid the $13 to buy one before that. I had to work the gun with my car keys for the rest of the hunt. I think Browning should take me hunting for a day to make it up to me. Maybe buy me a new gun to sooth my hurt feelings. So, you are wrong, Brownings will "crap out like that"

JB Weld the groove and you can float an extra shell on the carrier.

Shot Ithaca Model 37 pumps from 1975 to 1986. Broke the 20 gauge often. Shot a BPS from 87-89 - broke it many times. Tried a Beretta A303 in 1989 - never worked despite three trips back to Beretta. In 1990, I heard about the SBE. I wanted a gun that would not jam 3" shells, so I bought one for $899 thinking at least it should cycle 3" shells. The rest is history Of course, I do own and shoot many other brands, but Benelli is still my go to brand...

Did you let your husband test the gun

No recipes here, just slap them on the George Foreman grill I keep in the trailer. Maybe just a bit of Lowry's Seasoned Salt. Got too many to eat to worry much about recipes

I live in Northern California. Only two things come from Northern California, and I don't have horns You really don't want to know what or who I 'do' with my 'Benelli' 'Super' 'Black' 'Eagle'......

No. I have shot 3.5 XR in maybe 12 different choke & gun combos, all have the identical POI. The density of the pattern varies though.

What Brand of calls does everyone use,and why?
mudhen replied to CH/QuakerBoyProstaff's topic in Turkey Hunting
Given that you posted this in the turkey forum, I am going to assume you are referring to turkey calls. I use exclusively Primos mouth calls - A-Frame Triple with bat cut, same call in a double. For slates I also use almost all Primos - Jackpot glass and slate. My paddle calls are also almost all Primos - Box Cuttter, Lil Heartbreaker, Heartbreaker. I'm adding at least one paddle from Albert Paul for next year. All of the above choices are based on response from birds in the field. -
The recoil pads on the several Novas I have owned did not attach with screws, they were slip fit. I think the CT Gel pad fits the Nova and the Super Nova. It also says this on the website and in the catalog. I would tend to agree that a $80-$90 pad does not really make sense on a $299 gun, but if it works well, what does the price matter? The LS pad will also work great, but the attachment is not slip fit and the pad is not easily removable.

It is: I think the M2 and SBE II are two totally different guns. They feel, shoot different, tear down and clean up different, etc. I like both, but the SBE II is the king for me, no doubt...

Lots of good early season reports on Black Cloud steel. Up to a certain price, I don't really care what shells cost, I care more how they work. But I'll admit, there is a limit on what I will spend for shells. I can, but will not, pay $100/25 for Kent Matrix. I have bought some Rem HD for $9/10, but I can only get so much at that price with the rebate. Hevi Steel just went to $36/25, but I might keep shooting that. Kent Fast Steel is up to $12/25 for 2007. So Federal Black Cloud at $19/25 is fine with me. I'll shoot that + some Federal Ultra Shok for this year.

It depends on the condition of either version at the time of sale. A heavily worn camo gun looks pretty bad and will not hold it's value as well as a perfectly kept black gun of the same age. I have cleaned up black guns with Breakfree CLP and they look almost new. I have seen one year old camo guns that look like crap. Fully functional, they just don't look that great. Just my take.

Use more powerful shells My M2 20 shot both days without a problem.
-
Did you ask C&H about their custom size reducers? I would think the Old Standby 5/8 x some short length would work in the SBE II stock where the space is limited.
-
Who are you referring to? This guy is great: http://www.bob-munden.com/ Is your gun an older SBE, newer SBE, or SBE II? http://www.nitrocompany.com/pattern.htm#recommended%20shells I don't shoot HS at turkeys and no, I've never tried the .673 Rhino choke.

Yes, a B + C will give you more drop. I need my B, so I didn't grind away at it. Yes, you will need to cut out or grind away the pegs, My SBE II has only one peg, but my new M2 20 gauge has two.
