  1. There are two holes on my SBE locking head, one above the extractor, one below.

The top hole is the tap hole. It is offset so the pin stays put.

The pin itself sits in the the bottom hole and holds the extractor in place.

I tapped from the top until the pin came out of the bottom hole.

Then I grabbed the pin with a pliers and pulled out.

I think the rolled pin is pretty much a single use pin.

  2. I too will call for the new wrench.

I didn't use my original one for many years until I noticed the tubes getting kinda scratchy.

Then I found out how well it cuts the crud out of the threads.

Arrgh.... the boycott is just killin' me.... 28.5 days left.....

  3. Hey BenelliGirl,

You have repeatedly told us this was our sandbox to play in!

"The forums are hosted compliments of Benelli USA to post questions and comments.

I was just havin' a little fun in the ol' Benelli Forums cat pan smile.gif

Does anyone know what choke tube wrench Benelli sends if I were to call that number and speak with a human?

Is it the neat one with the thread cleaner or just another piece of sheet metal?

    btw - $1190, 29 days and counting......

  4. I had an M1 in factory camo a few years back.

It held up fine, but did start to turn white as the finish got worn. Some small chipping did occur.

I carry all my guns on a sling and that really accelerates the wear factor on any film type finish.

I bought my new SBE II in camo because it was only slightly higher in price than the matte black version. Aftermarket camo dipping is around $200, so I thought the factory finish would be fine for a couple of seasons.

I'll just redip at some point in the future....

  5. Tested my new SBE II this last weekend.

Shot 20 3.5" turkey loads  - not real fun.

Sadly, I must report there were no major malfuntions.

    No butt pad falling off.

    The safety was perfect.

The camo film was perfect right from the box.

The instructions were fine, but I would prefer a DVD and/or a representative of Benelli to visit my home and assemble the gun for me. For $1600 I deserve better

I do love the composite trigger assembly - especially how they snugged the cartridge drop lever closer to the trigger guard. I just wonder how long the cheap plastic will last

The point of aim was dead on - no need to adjust drop and/or cast.

BUT, I still have Benelli nailed  My choke tube wrench does not fit the full choke. I had to use one of my 6 other choke tube wrenches. I've got them now. They better reply to my 8 e-mails  I want a whole new gun

I can't believe a $1600 gun has such a crappy choke tube wrench! Sheesh - sheet metal? I paid $1600 for sheet metal?

I can't even use the gun now - I have to wait for a new wrench.

    Anyone know a good lawyer?

I have been wronged - they owe me big time.

I am going to boycott Benelli - no new Benellis for me for at least 30 days - I'm not kidding - I'm hopping mad.....

  6. Well Scott, if we all only bought what we needed, what fun would that be?

First off, this guy already owns 2 SBE II's and a SS. So obviously $$ is no object. I'm guessing he wanted essentially a matte black SS that he could bang around a bit and not be concerned about the finish. The Cordoba is a matte black SS less $70.

Second, he bought the Cordoba in the 30" bbl, so maybe he just likes 30", which is not available in the SBE II. I hunt with a guy that insists on 30" bbls and bought the S II just for that reason.

Third, he states the primary reason for buying the Cordoba was to hunt with and for clays. Every S II owner I know that hunts dux wished it came in a dark matte finish. Now it essentially does.

Fourth, he had no way of knowing, prior to purchase, that the Cordoba would not cycle 7/8 (although Benelli told him so expressly in the catalog!).

Fifth, portin' for dux is common. Not too nice huntin' next to one, but common....

    Just my thoughts....

  7. This website is not a substitute for their instruction manual and/or customer service department.

If you want to glean useful info from this website, read all the old posts and/or use the search feature for cleaning advice.

Page 16 & 17 of my SBE II manual covers all I will ever need to know about trouble shooting, breaking in, ammunition, and maintenance.

    Pretty much common sense....

  8. Matte finish Benellis like BreakFree CLP - it keeps mine nice and dark - reapply every so often.

The rattle is indeed the spring behind the locking head. It's jsut how the gun works. I've gone 15 years without noticing it - maybe after 30 years it will bother me?

Bolt handle is always a biatch when new. I sometimes buy an oversize bolt handle. It gets better with time.

Yeah, that forearm thing is kinda funky, not like the older Benellis that were easier to snap into place.

  9. I have only done a few on my Benellis.

I recall changing one on an SBE at 15,000 rounds of magnum waterfowl loads.

Might just be dirty, who knows....

Hrmfrghtyhsdyt....$3 spring......15,000 rounds.... seems kinda 'spensive to me.....

  10. The extractor assembly certainly gets lazy over time. Could be just gummed up or a dead spring.

Quick and easy fix from www.brownells.com for about $27.

Order a new extractor, extractor spring, and while you're at it, get a new extractor pin.

Push the pin down with a small nail or punch. Remove the spring and extractor. Clean out all the crud, and replace with all new parts.

At very least, order a new extractor spring.

  11. No, the new Benelli gel pad fits in Type 2 SBE II/M2 stocks via a retention groove inside the stock.

Simms L-Savr Pad # 10401 fits both SBE synthetic and wood stocks perfectly. Don't overtighten the screws - I have broken 2 Simms that way.

  12. Did someone sleep through "Proper Analogies 101" at Molson U?

I'm to friggin tired too discuss this anymore,

Where can I order a solid steel stock and forearm for my SBE II?.....

  13. Plastic parts?

OMG - I'll get a memo off to Benelli right away!

They must have lost their minds.

I demand a reply to my e-mail and/or phone call.

    It's a conspiracy I say.

Don't they know we know what's best?.....

  14. Almost every major choke co. now has a turkey choke for the SBE II;

    Kicks

    Comp-n-Choke

    Briley

    Cabelas

    Terror

    Wad Wizard

    Pure Gold

    etc....

Terror is getting good reviews - .655

I think the tap plugs are plastic or epoxy or something. I won't pull them out unless I need to.

The trap/skeet figure 8 would make my gun shoot high - I block out the red with the silver and the gun shoots where I aim....

    mudhen - CA

  15. On my SBE's, I block out the red with the silver, aim at the base of the neck, and do my best to squeeze that wonderful Benelli trigger!

I think that the figure 8 is good for trap, but it would make my guns shoot high on turkeys.

My patterns seems to center right where I aim.

    Good luck,

  16. I have heard of no early rumors about an M2 20 guage.

Any official release would be likely this time next year or just before the SHOT Show in Feb.

If they don't sell that many M1 20's, I would think a M2 20 is unlikely, but who knows?

Everyone I know who shoots/owns a M1 20 or Monte 20 loves them, so I don't think you can go wrong.

  17. Not all are advertised, but I have found these so far;

    Comp-n-Choke

    Kicks

    Terror

    Wad Wizard

    Briley

    Rhino

    Cabelas

    Pure Gold

And I'm sure there are many, many, more...

  18. Benelli does not sell to traditional wholesalers.

They go direct to approved Benelli dealers.

There are some legitimate Benelli dealers at the above listed sites.

    mudhen - CA

  19. Wood guns just don't appeal to the average Benelli buyer. Most want camo or black.

Most of our duck hunting is from tanks, and they are heck on wood stocks.

Nice wood SBE II's would just collect dust here.

Maybe they should have a special order one?...
