  1. Benelli has a 10 year warranty on this model of shotgun.  I would suggest if you want to pursue this,  call in a RMA, but do not send in the gun until after your season is over.  This could be a extended wait time, it would be a challenge for Benelli to get another barrel for the gun.

  2. Great insight Steve:  Is it a 2 piece Barrel/Reciever or  1 Piece Barrel in which the barrel and portion of the barrel that covers the reciever is 1 piece, see photo of SBE 3.5"

The SBE 3" is a two piece design meaning the portion that covers the reciever is aloy.

A note for Steve: the newest models SBE 3 3":  coming from Italy have two taped hole near the rear of the aloy portion of the reciever.

If you have a 2 piece reciever your gun is a 3" gun.

Please reach out if you may need assistance, via PM.

  3. I will experiment with some 3.5" ammo, and report back.

    Three possibilities:

    Carrier latch as previously descibed

Shot shell overall length, if possible check this with other brands

Carrier could be bent, not allowing the shell to move to the correct position

  4. Could you clarify:  "round coming out of the magazine was stuck partially in the magazine".

Is your Carrier Latch not allowing the shells release from the magazine completely?  Here are two photo's looking down a magazine tube:  One photo shows a Carrier Latch that is out of adjustment, putting too much pressure on shells coming out of magazine, the other photo is properly adjusted Carrier Latch.

Did you have your OEM bolt handle?  Some asftermarket bolt handles are cut incorrectl, either making contact with the reciever or slidding through the bolt handle dent.  I have seen this far too many times.

    I would also get a box of 2 3/4" 3 Dram 1 1/8 oz ammo.

Are you shootting BB"s - if so many of these have OD greater than Benelli ID bore.  Attached.

Please reach out by PM if you need additional assistance.

At one time Benelli sent their Performance Shop guns to various stateside gunsmiths for the “enchantments” (and as far as I know they still do). The hunting guns go to a well known shop that advertises a lengthened forcing cone as part of the package. Your chamber looks like the FC reamer may have slightly touched the edge of the chamber while in use. The good new is that little scoring mark will have zero effect on the shotgun's operation.

The SBE 3 Turkey Performance Shop model goes to Rob Roberts for forcing cone lenghtening.

I’m experiencing a somewhat similar issue, but not exact. I’m also using SBE2.

Duck hunting, using 3” Hevi Steel, 1500fps shells.

1 in chamber, 2 in mag tube.

When I fire the first shot, the used shell does not completely eject, and the second reload shell is pulled back, along with the third partially pulling out of the mag tube, causing the action to stop.

When only loading 1 in chamber, 1 in mag tube, the gun functions perfectly fine.

Any idea why it is pulling both rounds from the mag tube? Sounds like the opposite of a blockage or weak spring..

You have three possibilies, maybe more:

    Carrier Latch Out OF Adjustment

    Magazine Spring

    Follower Maint.

Please  PM me if you can not make any progress.

  7. Zach,

Please let us know how it goes.  Many guns that I work on have this issue to some extent.  You will find your issue will be resolved if you cleaned out the bolt like described in photo essay: "Understanding lIght Strikes".

  8. Great insights from Steve, as usual:  You may want to check your Carrier Latch for proper shells contact.  Here is two photos looking down the magazine tube.  One of which is a Carrier Latch that is properly adjusted, correct surface contact with shot shell.  The second photos is a Carrier Latch that is bent, to much surface contact with shotshell.  Thus it will not realease shell from magazine tube.  Your design is slightly different because the SBE 3 uses a Two Piece Latch, however the concepts are very similar.  Photos's taken from M4.

  9. Hi Zach,

Very good insight from Steve, he always provided exceptional posts to the forum.  Please PM if you can not get this figured out.  I have been through nearly 1475 Benelli's over the years.  You may want to look at this as well. Search

  10. The M1 Super 90 is a very nice firearm, they were originally imported into the USA by H&K, before Benelli USA era of offerings.  these will be stamped on the right hand of the reciever either Benelli USA or Heckler & Kock.

The Super Black Eagle was also imported into the USA by H&K for the first few years of orgination.  These will be clearly stamped as well, previuosly noted.  The SBE in the first few years could be ordered in a high or low rib version, most of which were high rib.

Outside of the nostalgia, there are very few differences in H&K versioned and USA versioned Benelli.  Product developement and advancement changed and improved over the years which is sometimes mistaken for the time of importation.

Low rib versions were often set up with the D Drop shim plate, more drop.  The high rib versions were setup with the C Drop Shim Plate and C Drop Shim, less drop.

  11. The fitting on the forend is very tight in most 20 gauge Benelli's and Franchi's.  Insure you pressing the forend firmly against the barrel magazine ring, this will give you the needed space to seat the forend onto the barrel, thus making installation easier.  Remembering this parts will seat much better over time and after a few installations.

  12. If I don't press the cartridge drop lever, I am only able to eject the currently chambered shell and the bolt locks open."   This would be normal.

A loading sequence should start in this position, bolt lock back.  Place shotshell in chamber, use bolt release to close bolt.

Secondly I would look at your bolt head and ensure it is not packed with debries, thus your firing pin is not traveling through the bolt and make contasct with the primer or not deep enough.

Search "Understandin Light Strikes" on this forum  very good photo sequence.

Please send me a PM if you can not make any progress, be glad to help.

  13. The DX is actually your cast shim.  If you look on the back of it, it should read sx, sx meaning Left Handed, dx right handed.  Your SBE 3 should have been set up C Drop Shim, DX Cast Shim, both facing way from the reciever.  The Drop Shim Plate then should be CDX, these letters should be at the top of the plate located beneath the butt pad.

Pleasse PM me if you need assistance.

Will the SBE2 barrel not fit the SBE if ALSO using the SBE 2 forearm? OR modifying the original forearm?

Steve, you are correct it will "Fit" however forend modifications would need to be made.  I did not want to send someone down the path of buying a expensive barrel not knowing forend puchase and modification would needed.    Thank you for all of your contributions to the forum.

  15. SBE 2 & SBE 3 Barrels will not fit your Super Black Eagle.  SBE barrels are going to be very difficult to find.  Souces like EBAY, Gun Broker.com, Slinks Gun Parts would be good sources to start watching.  You may need to purchase another used gun to get the barrel.  If your barrels are not bulged you may wish to freshen them up by having them cerakoted.  Good applicators can get very close to the OEM color.

Please PM me if you wish I may be able to assist in finding a used gun.

  16. The Super Black Eagle 3 stock will fit the Cordoba however you do not need to get a new stock to covert yours into the same left handed stock as the SBE 3 Left Handed.  The Benelli Quadra Fit system makes these adjustments fairly easy once you understand the system.  The magic is inside the stock with the Drop Shim Plate, not as much so with the Cast and Drop shims that are located behind the the reciever.

Let me know if you may need reference material or a phone call, I could walk you right through it and have your Cordoba not only fit you in the cast but perhaps some drop adjustments are needed as well.

Finally you could also change the orientation of the safety to left handed as well, this sometimes requires a skillfull touch.

Please PM me if needed.  I have done nearly 1000 of these Quadra Fit fitting on Benelli's and similar.
