  1. I think I'll stay with my SBEII one more year. I've got to pony up $1400 in dues to the hunt club this year, and I want to give the new hotness a year in the hands of others to see how it holds up.
  2. Deer and related game can be effectively dropped in their tracks with the high shoulder shot, but I agree with Steve on bears. There's too much dense bone, fat, and fur to make a good shoulder shot work consistently.
  3. http://americangundog.com/straightshooting.html Season 1 Episode 3
  4. I'm not talking about the rewards. I'm talking about the sacrifice.
  5. He likes his twins, so think in those terms. But the big news isn't what he's getting.
  6. Tell me more!
  7. Are you going to tell them?
  8. I've heard the song, but it's just a song. Besides, where's Kansas now?
  9. I'm smitten by something new.
  10. Sure. Nothing lasts forever.
  11. +1 on a decent red dot. The Vortex Strikefire that I have on my AR would be a nice choice. Choose red or green, with varying brightness levels. The dot is 2 MOA at 100 yards. Magnification is 1X. Unlimited eye relief. Shoot with both eyes opened!
  12. Exactly. Besides, I may not be a Benelli owner much longer.
  13. Sent you a PM.

    Gas Piston

If the new Benelli MR1 (Beretta RX4) has the same gas system as the R1, then it's not going to hold up very well in its target market. According to the literature I've seen, they use the same gas system.
  15. Not yet. Why don't you go ahead and get one going? I'm too busy to post.
  16. They say there are downsides to living in CA, but that sure isn't one of them!

  18. You're going to have to change your handle soon, my friend. Framed documents..... I vote we call him the curator. Can't wait to see what the next addition to the museum will be!
  19. Were Canvasbacks off-limits everywhere in the US last year, or just in certain states?
  20. It's marginally faster than a .308 and the .270 WSM beats it handily. I'd rather have the speed than the weight. If I thought I needed something with more umph for elk, then I'd probably go with the 7WSM or the .338 RUM, which puts a more appropriate amount of speed behind that lumbering slug. Yes, it's somewhat popular in the AR-10, but I suspect the .308 will reign supreme in that category for a very long time. As for other semi-autos, I don't see Browning clamoring to make one either.
  21. I'm sure they do the tooling for two sales. You guys should go ahead and call it in.
  22. Alaskans can't buy ammo via mail order either.
  23. Be careful. I hear he's got a darned good lawyer.
  24. I'll sure be glad when duck season is back in.
