Something in the neighborhood of 2"-3" at 100 yards would be expected. May not happen, but the possibility exists. While the barrel and scope are all attached, you will still get a slightly different assembly and different torque on the assembly. This can cause slight changes in harmonics and the mating of bolt face to chamber. Take a look at these two photos. I shot these today with my muzzleloader. The three in the ten ring were shot after the barrel was warm (not hot) from a few previous shots for scope fine-tuning. I noticed I was getting some vertical stringing, even though the barrel was supposed to be free-floated from the factory. Hmmmmmm.... So, I let the barrel cool completely. After all, that's the way it's going to be when I want to take a shot on a deer tomorrow morning. On the cooled barrel, it shot about 3" higher. While that's an unusual variance, usually warmer = higher, it's still a variance. The dollar bill test confirmed barrel to wood contact about 3" from the recoil lug. Something I should have done before going to the range, but I trusted the maker's claims of a free-floating barrel. It's not enough to worry about immediately, but it shows what a small amount of torque and pressure variance can grow into at 100 yards. When I'm done packaging the meat tomorrow, I'll take the gun apart and remove the problem area with some sandpaper wrapped around a wooden dowel. Then I'll go back to the range and recheck the zero.

Snap Ring Pliers Auto Parts Stores Home Depot Lowes Hardware Stores Sears You can also insert a small screwdriver through the hole and pry it out. Just don't aim it back at yourself.

splashdance, NJ is right. Simple physics dictate that if the projectile delivered that much impact force, then the recoil would split you in half. Nova, Send over a skirt. I need a new cover for my duck boat.

Women's size XXXL is going to be too much for me. Got any daughters who don't spend as much time at the trough?

I clicked one. It said that Obama was the same as Bush on guns. Another one was Robert Novak (op ed). Robert Novak - snarf -
Same POI with what? Slugs? Probably close, but may not be exactly the same. Just another excuse to go out and shoot again.

Wow. Just wow. Post up the inventory. I promise no one will get hurt.

That may be your goal. I'm thinking that he has gone to all the trouble of getting into my home for a reason. He doesn't get a do-over with me or anyone else.

Hypocrisy in overdrive: "The board of directors has asked Mr. Cooper to resign as President of Cooper Firearms of Montana, Inc." Think about it for a moment. A company with their very livelihood riding on one part of the Constitution takes a dump on another part of it, because of ignorance and backwards assumptions about what a politician MIGHT do IF elected. -
"Cruiser" status. Is that a paintball term? My "shotties" are all semi-autos. "Racking" is just too much extraneous motion, noise, and effort. Perhaps if you hadn't branded yourself noob you'd be more compelling.

Safety is relevant to those who are in the home. When my kids were here I kept all guns unloaded and locked away. Now that they are grown and on their own (well, sort of - college isn't really on your own), I keep just about everything loaded and there's a S&W 40 with 16 rounds (including one in the chamber) and an extra mag. within arms reach of my bedside all the time. I have no desire in letting an intruder know I'm either home or awake and alert to their presence until it's too late for them to do anything but bleed. You rack your shotty all you want. I'll do my own thing.
-
Racking the gun, shouting verbal commands, etc. alert the intruder to your position and status. There's really no need for that since this person has already forced themselves into your home. If he wanted conversation, he would have phoned or rung the bell. Time for talk is later when there's just one story to tell to the cops.

One more Q - UNSC? Halo?
-
Great pics, UNSC! Thanks for sharing, and we hope to see more from you guys this year! We get back into them on Nov. 15th, but my primary focus until then will be the whitetails with my new smokeless smokepole
-
Most Benelii owners actually do cycle them through the chamber. The mag catch release method can be tricky and can result in band-aids.

Snicker....

Nice shooting! What are your limits on ducks and doves, if there are any?

Duggan, Both sides are promoting "Change", lest you forget. I'm fine with either outcome, and I'm ecstatic that that the Cheney dynasty is coming to an end. You might want to look at what little miss fairplay newswoman's husband does for a living. That stuff doesn't also get through the Newscorp filters. He's a media consultant for the GOP. You didn't really think those questions came from her empty pretty head, did you? -
Yes, it's overkill.

Nope, not at all. The 2nd Amendment is the supreme gun law, trumping any and all state and local laws. As long as I abide by it, I'm within the law. People (and legislators) get this notion that the Constitution is some ancient historical cool document from the days of infancy of this great nation. In fact, it is THE LAW. Any ridiculous laws like gun laws, the patriot act, etc. which conflict with its core principles are null and void. -

Not what I said, Duggan. What I said is that, regardless of which candidate wins this time around, it's a vast improvement over what we've had to endure for the past eight years under Cheney, Bush, Rumsfeld, Rice, etc. The single most important thing about this election isn't about who's moving in. It's about who's moving out. America will no longer be piloted by drunk drivers.
