  1. The biggest differances are barrel lengths available and the ability to shoot 3 1/2" shells. The Cordoba comes in 28" & 30" and the SBE II in 28", 26", & 24". So if you want a 30" you have to get the Cordoba, a 24" or a 26" the SBE II, a 28" either one. The price differance accounts for the porting and the extended chokes. Just an observation. Hope this helps.--GB
  2. It'll look like a SS. I don't think I'd want the silver or non-black receiver, too much glare.--GB
  3. Lebhunter-- I have installed a Mercury Recoil reducer in my SBE II. So the rumor that you can't is false.--GB
  4. It looks like the Super Sport without the silver receiver. It also only comes in 28" or 30". I think the SBE II is a more all around shotgun.--GB
  5. Check with Lawry Shooting Sports Inc. (Rick Lawry) 1-877-705-0008 Caledonia,Ont. he might be able to help you on a gun.--GB
  6. I would try for Handicap 23 to 27 yard use the Full, for 18 to 22 use IM, and 16 & 17 use Mod. See how these work and adjust accordingly. Hope this helps. --GB
  7. Brownells carries an adapter kit for Benelli's to install any recoil pad on you gun for $29.95, but it doesn't work on the SS or a SBE II Comfort-Tech stock. All Sport Tech makes a Recoil Pad Replacement Kit for the SS & SBE II C-T stock that sells for $17.00 + $3.00 S&H. AST can be contacted at 734-717-5390 or [email protected]. Hope this helps with your problem.--GB
  8. Check with Pacific Sporting Arms (John Herkowitz) 1-866-474-6848 in Azusa, Ca. I"ll call him ahead of time if you would like me to.--GB
  9. Are they Crio chokes?--GB
  10. Hi-Viz makes an excellent sight Comp Sight model and has 6 or 7 different color pipes which can be purchased from www.mpcsports.com or 1-877-769-8783 for about $25.00. The best choke for SC is generally a modified. Briley makes some great extended chokes, www.briley.com or 1-800-331-5718 for about $35.00. Hope this helps.---GB
  11. Another way to float the bird at Trap is to raise the stock. A temporary fix is the Wrapid Comb which attaches to your stock and comes 3 or 4 spacers to get the height you want. Call 503-371-0245 or www.gunsolutions.com. Hope this helps.--GB
  12. A trap gun usually shoots high and the SS isn't a trap gun, so you must cover the target and pull the trigger. Hold about 2ft. over the front edge of the trap house, then call and shoot.--GB
  13. chief 79-- Hi-viz makes a good sight system, the Comp Sight available from www.mps.com for about $25. It comes with 6 or 7 lite pipes( white, green, and red) and is easily attached with a small screw driver. The current bead simply unscrews.--GB
  14. Mr. Lee-- There is a plate available that allows you to put any brand recoil pad on your SS ll and it lets you screw the pad on. It can be purchased from ALL SPORT TECH for $15.00 including S&H. Their number is 734-662-9127. -- Good luck.--GB
  15. DD--Before I had my 2 SBE ll's worked on they wouldn't cycle with 1-1/8oz. or any other loads. But since they function every time, even with 1oz. It doesn't surprise me. Many guns, not just your Benelli need fine tuning, new or used. If you like the gun spend a couple extra $$ and have it modified or tuned for you. Hope this helps.---GB
  16. I own both and they each have different good points. The O/U gives you opportunity of using 2 chokes, which may be necessary on some targets. But you can get the same result be using different size shot for each target shot with an automatic and 1 choke at a time. As Irish said, you generally can buy a automatic for less money than a O/U. Auto's take less energy and space to operate and this may be nice in the confines of small area (like a duck boat). No problem dealing with the empty hulls as they are extracted automatically, but hard to save for reloading. Big recoil difference which can affect endurance in the long run. Bottom line is, try both if possible and pick which is best for your situation. Hope this helps.---GB
  17. In response to Irish's suggestion of a search. I have 2 SBE ll's with recoil reducers both in the stock and up front. I installed an 8oz. reducer in the stock and added an 8oz. reducer in the magazine to (1) reduce & absorb recoil, (2) give the gun some weight to also reduce recoil, and (3) give the gun some balance. My guns cycle fine with all ammo. Porting will only help reduce barrel jump and redirect the sound, not reduce recoil. Lengthening the forcing cone may cause cycling problems and is not recommended on chromed bore barrels. Overboring would most likely cause numerous problems on an inertia type gun. Hope this gives you some insight.--GB
  18. Many of the barrels bores are chrome lined and hard to work with. Lengthening the forcing cone could affect the functioning of the inertia system. It would not dramatically change the recoil or patterns. If it ain't broke don't fix it. -- GB
  19. Most of the sporting clays shooters shoot a O/U with 32" or 30" barrels. This equates in an automatic to 28" or 26" barrels as the 4" longer receiver makes the gun feel longer than the barrels measure. For skeet the 26" barrels would be best and for trap either length would work. Hope this helps your decision making.--GB

    Recoil??

Ranger, I spoke to George (the owner) at Trapdude and they just came out with a 1/2" Gooey Pad. It may be a better thickness for your wife's gun. Thought I'd update you on the pad situation. Good luck.--GB
  21. Porting will not help recoil, it helps control barrel jump. Lengthening the forcing cone may cause the gun to not cycle properly and some of the Benelli barrels are chrome lined and hard to work on. Recoil reducers in the stock and forend or replace with cap type reducer. Also you may want to try a Trapdude Gooey or Super Gooey recoil pad, they are real soft. Limbsaver makes a recoil pad with tiny air cylinders inside it which also is quite soft. Good luck, hope this info helps.--GB

    Recoil??

Ranger-- The softest recoil pad is the Gooey or the Super Gooey by Trapdude and they have 3 thicknesses, 3/4", 1", and 1-1/4". You can check their website www.trapdude.com. C & H Research makes Mercury Recoil Reducers that are as short as 3" and as small as 3/4" in dia. Their website is www.mercuryrecoil.com. Maybe some of these products will work. Good luck.--GB

    Recoil??

Ranger-- Remington makes a Low Recoil shell in 20ga. that shoots great. My wife shoots skeet tournaments and she shoots 200 rounds a day with no problem . She shoots a K-80 O/U and has shot every brand of ammo out there and says these are the softess shooting. Hope this info helps.--GB
  24. Well I have had guns ported for many years and have numerous conversations with a fellow who used to run Magna- Port and it does have to do with pressure, not gas. But you can believe what ever you want. I currently have 2 Benelli's , both ported, with recoil reducers, and they both shoot 1oz. loads fine. The key is to get the cycle timing right and have the gun tuned to the ammo you are going to shoot. Porting does not reduce recoil , it helps keep the barrel down and directs the noise in a differant direction other than out in front. The most important thing is gun fit. Pitch , LOP, Drop at the heel and Drop at the comp.--GB
  25. I've heard that they are not interchangeable. Why not go with the BRILEY chokes? I got a set for my SBE ll a couple weeks ago and am very happy with my choice. I've known Jesse Briley for over 30yrs. and he has always made an excellent product. If you call over there ask for Gart Singer , he's a good guy to dea with.--GB
