  1. Im running through 25 pounds of corn a every 2 days feedin the locals. Time to fatten them up.
  2. Kind of a by the way, I was testing a trap load through my SBE turkey gun setup with a .660 trulock choke today to test the red dot had an accurate POI. I threw a Remington 2 3/4 00 Buck shell in for the **** of it (not plated) and shot a silouhete target at 35 yards. I got a 4 inch group, and if you subtracted the one flyer I got a 2 1/2 inch group. Imagine that. Might be useful during deer season. Dont know if Im ballsy enough to try 3 1/2 Copper Plated OO Buck shell. Maybe next week.
  3. Im looking for a SBE II Pistol Grip Stock (Turkey Model) for sale. Willing to pay +-$100 + shipping. Camo pattern not an issue
  4. What kind of Gun? SBE II, just use the shims, and pay more attention when you shoulder it. OR get a red dot scope for turkeys
  5. Has anyone substituted #4 3 1/2 inch hevishot duck loads for Spring Turkey loads? Im shooting a SBE 2, with Trulock turkey .660 Rhino choke? I got too much variety here to make up my mind 3 1/2 inch #4 hevishot duck 3 1/2 inch #6 Remington turkey copper plated Handloaded 3 1/2 #6 Nickel plated + buffer (Hodgdon Longshot What would you use??
  6. Hey all. Any opinions on reloading lead shot vs. copper plated vs. nickel plated. Im going to do some experiments with some 3 1/2's and develop my own turkey loads. Ive never shot nickel before, I ordered 8lbs from Ballistic Products, going to give it a whirl. Anyone else try?
  7. Sure Cycle Mag Tube Extension Kits http://www.surecycle.com/default.asp Just dont get caught goose hunting with it..........
  8. Dont worry about the factory choke tubes. I never noticed a difference between factory and aftermarket tubes, even though I own a few now. I use rotate my SBE II and Nova for shooting the geeses. I shoot a Kicks High Flyer (Mod Steel Ported) in my Nova, Super tight pattern with hevishot @ 45 yards. Good overall pattern with steel. Havent tried it with lead field loads yet. They dont recommend buckshot BUT if you want a home defense choke, get a skeet or IC choke. Theyll handle buck in close, and rifled slugs. As far as recoil pads, not sure you need one. I shoot all 3 1/2 steel and will be custom loading my own 3 1/2 0000 buckshot loads. I shot one with the mercury reducer in the stock and Im not sure its worth the money. Overall great gun, great price, and you get a moderate ohh and ahh value from the redneck hunters. Oh yeah, the rifled slug barrel is worth every cent.
  9. Obviously the M4 is a tactical shotgun for homedefense and the Marines and what not. What do you use your m4 for? Target practice? Hunting? Looks and modifications? Just curious....
  10. I have a Nova pump as well, never fired slugs through the bird barrel but I have shot 3" Lightfileds through the rifled slug barrel. I only shot 1, and the recoil unlocked the bolt, let the bolt slide back 1/16th of an inch, and exposed the brass under pressure. The brass to the side of the ejection port ballooned out. Thank god the brass didn't blow out. Afterwards I couldn't extract the s****. I had to hold the release button and slam the butt of the gun on the gun bench to get the s**** out. Ill never shoot one of those lightfields again. And now I make sure I slam the bolt shut when shooting slugs. Once was too close.
  11. Just curious who else is shooting a rifled nova, what size groups you are getting @ 100 and with what ammo?
  12. Forget the pad, I want the cool Benelli Poster in the background
  13. Has anyone seen a spent shell catcher for a SBE 2. Ill be shooting sporting clays alot soon, and I started reloading so naturally I'm chasing shells all to **** and back. Just wondering if anyone makes a catcher that fits on the gun. Thanks-
  14. They are a sabot round, and somewhat cheap. Ive seen them for sale for 8-12$ a box. Remember, its not just the slugs that matter. I'm shooting them through a Nova, with Steel rings on the canteliver, that were lapped. Im looking through a Bushnell Banner 1-4.5x scope, that was torqued down correctly. if your using optics, lap and torque so that your POI doesnt move because slugs defintely tests your optics and mounts.
  15. If its a rifled slug barrel on your Nova, try a 3 inch BRI Slug. Works great for mine. I get a half dollar group @100. That combo is (embarassingly) more accurate than my bolt action .223 at the same distance. Only con I can think to the BRI slugs is some people think that too much penetration and energy transfer of BRI's are poor on deer unless you hit a bone somewhere.
  16. Some guys may grimace at this BUT, I have shot 10k plus rounds out of mine, of varying types of shells. THe only problem I ever had was a factory shell with no powder As soon as I got the gun, I cleaned it with alcohol to get all oil/grease out. Went to the trap range, shot 8 boxes of target rounds with a completely dry gun. Came home, disassembled it. Oiled everything. Never looked back. As i said before, only 1 no powder misfire-
