  1. Well I googled a bit more and it looks like the opinion of the BATF is that it is not allowed. If you add the stock the shotgun is no longer considered sporting and you need to comply then with 922®. You can get around this by having less than 10 imported parts. The catch is there is no source of US parts for the supernova at this time to bring the imported parts count down to less than 10.
  2. It looks like the sidearmor rail. If you want to co-wittness it will not work as the rail is probably too high.
  3. Is it legal to install the factory collapsible stock on a Supernova ? From my limited understanding if you do not install an extended magazine with it it should be ok. This is because installing an extended magazine makes it non sporting and not ok for import. I have also been told to keep the imported parts count to 10 or less due to 922®. I thought I understood 922® as I have a few AKs, however the entire shotgun imported. It has no US parts. How was it ever imported for sale if 922® applies. Anybody know how many parts count on the supernova ? If 922® applies would it be ok to replace the follower and install the stock? I know the collapsible stock counts as two parts. Any opinions ?
  4. Get the SN. At least with the SN you can change the rear stock if you wanted to.
  5. It should work. I have one on my pistol grip supernova. However, It is a very tight fit and you may need to use a dremel to fit the back end of the sight to your stock. Also the Speed bead only comes with the first generation fast fire not the new water resistant second generation.
  6. The weatherby looks interesting. Looks like a nova, has tactical ghost ring fiber optic sights, top mounted rail for scope or red dot sight, and chrome lined barrel and internal chokes. Also made in Turkey but price is good. I am tempted to check one out.
  7. You would be better off to buy another SN with PG stock and barrel. By the time you buy another stock and barrel you will have spent almost as much as a new SN. Unfortunately Benelli factory parts are quite expensive.
  8. I got one for my Super Nova on Ebay.
  9. Look here for pics of how I shortened my stock. http://www.benelliusa.com/forum/showthread.php?t=21177
  10. Yes, you use the epoxy only at the top and bottom edges of the stock leaving the middle open. I used brass wood inserts and machine screws to attach a new buttpad and it can be removed easily. You can also use wood screws and screw the buttpad directly into the epoxy.
  11. Cut the stock to make it shorter; it makes it a LOT better.
  12. This must be new. My SN tactical did not come with a pic rail. I got it about 2 yrs ago. I did get a pic rail from EGW. I no longer use it as I found out it it is too tall and will not allow co-wittness with the Ghost Ring Sights.
  13. Are you trying to make the LOP longer ? It is already quite long at 14.5 inches. To shorten it you need to cut the stock and use a filler like marine-tex of devcon plastic steel to allow the new pad to screw in place.
  14. I do not understand why they would even pursue making this. There are already better options with a receiver mounted optic than mounting it way forward on the barrel. What happens when you clean you gun ? Will you lose your zero as it looks like you need to loosen the clamp to remove your barrel.
  15. Here are some recent mods I did to my SuperNova. I shortened the LOP to 12 inches. I then filled the stock with Marine-Tex and used some screw inserts to reattach a limbsaver pad to the stock. Finally I used a dremel to modify a Burris Speed Bead to allow use with the pistol grip stock. This allows me a red dot sight that will co-wittness with the GR sights. I previously tried a Pic/wever rail in front of the GR rear sight but this did not allow a co-witness. I really like my SuperNova now.
  16. I called Benelli USA about this when the Super Nova first came out. They told me the ATF would not allow importation of the stock and they would not be offering it.
  17. They would be worth a lot. You cannot get them in the USA.
  18. The Nova and Supernova I have really would not benefit much from the VCS system. I have found using good ammo like Federal Flite control buckshot gave me similar patterns to an 870 and Mossberg modified VCS barrel. I also like the chrome lining of the Benelli barrels and you would lose this by back boring your barrel.
  19. Any simple two point sling would work. The SN could have been a great tactical gun. I do not know why Benelli does not support it better. It needs a shorter stock, and more accessories.
  20. I have the EGW rail and a Burris red dot. It works but the red dot does sit higher than I would like even with a low scope rings.
  21. I have not patterned it yet. I hope it patterns as well as the old Nova I used to have. I should have kept the Nova but it like the Super Nova came with a stock that was just too long for a defensive shotgun. To shorten the stock I started by using painters masking tape to mark the sections I wanted to cut off. I then used a wood saw to cut the sections off the stock. Next I shaped a spare limbasaver pad I had for a Rem 870 with a disc sander. I then took a spare aluminum scope rail that came with my Ruger 10/22 and shaped it to fit the inside of the Super nova stock. I do not have a picture of it but it resembled a sharpened popsicle stick when I was done. I next drilled a hole through the scope rail large enough for the stock screw to pass through. I then took two pieces of Oak and shaped it with a file to fit the stock. Finally I attached the oak pieces to the modified 10/22 scope rail with epoxy and wood screws. The entire assembly was then bolted in the stock using the original stock bolt. Here is a picture prior to attaching the limbsaver pad.
  22. That is very unfortunate. It would have been great to have the rails a bit lower to allow this.
  23. Anyone know if you will still be able to use the ghost rings to co-wittness when using this rail ? What size of scope rings would work ?
  24. Have you tried buckshot yet ? I am curious what size patterns of 00 buck people are getting with their Nova or Super Novas. I have not had a chance to pattern my SuperNova yet. However I had a Nova that would shoot 8 inch groups at 25 yds with the Federal flite control low recoil 00 buckshot. This is similar to patterns I got with a Rem 870 Vang Comp. and the older Federal Low recoil buckshot.
  25. I have finally finished shortening the LOP on my Super Nova Tactical. I removed 2 inches and now the LOP is 12.5 inches. This includes the limbsaver pad I installed. I like a lot better now. I am interested in seeing if anyone else has done this and what the results look like. Here is a picture of what I did. The lower part of the picture displays the two one inch section I removed from the original stock and the original butt pad.
